  • A 1982 Fiat-Allis stripping clay and pushing it down to a Caterpillar 992 to be loaded into trucks and hauled away. Once the clay is stripped down to the rock, the drills will move in, drill and fire the ground for the dragline seen in the background. Want to see more big tractors? Then join the PA today!

    A tribute to the great HD40 design of 35 years ago, they are still running today!

    I found that even on the Cats and Dressers it was always best to steer by adjusting the blade tilt when hogging a full blade. You can steer entirely by the blade with no need to grab a clutch. Hydrostatic finals are much more forgiving than the old mechanical clutches.

    Great video. Nice to see operators trying to take care of the machines. No hot dogging.

    Very nice angle on the 41 well done. These may be old but they will still pace with cat D9-10s and Komatsu 275s all day long. Keep up the good work, seeing this reminds me of the my old D9 days before i got moved to pit loader...

    Never knew Fiat made construction and mining equipment, thought they only made cars.
    Great vid as always Justin.

    That back-up alarm is hilarious.
    These old Fiat dozers have finals that need frequent attention. You have to take up the wear in the bearings around once a year or so, according to a friend who has one. He says that you just have to get used to the fact that you're gonna have to break the tracks off and open up the finals once a year. Get that in your system and you're okay, I guess.
    There's a website by VanNatta logging and they have one of these. They talk about it some. Good old dozers.

    these had a bad reputation for weak final drives, they were once a upon a time the largest dozer in the world before the Komatsu D455A and later the Cat D10. the 41-B was rated 524 HP.

    Thanks for all your hard work with these superb videos.How about a Fiat-Allis documentary?

  • @PAmining
    @PAmining  11 лет назад +6

    Yes. Everything that gets removed to get to the coal goes back when mining is done. The clay will be used during reclamation

  • @PAmining
    @PAmining  11 лет назад +7

    Yep. The finals on these tractors are weak. The easiest way to blow a final is grab the steering clutch while hogging a full blade.

    Would love to see a timeslapse of such a site over a day or three, sped up say 30-60 fold, so you could actually see the hill being moved?

  • @PAmining

    The mine is near a residential area and of course people complain about noise. That's a special type of alarm to reduce high pitch sound travel.

    It's called "Crow alarm", because the sound is taken from a regular american crow call.
    Of course, I can be wrong and I just could be making this whole thing up.
