    As a rangers fan we’ve been outplayed for 5 games and bailed out by Igor for 3 of them. This team has played like gallant is still the coach. Absolutely pathetic.
    Edit; I have no clue how they won this series when being outplayed 75% of the time (actually I do and his name is Igor) - but wow. What a series.

The 3-0 initial lead was flattering; it was really skin of the teeth stuff and could have easily been 2-1 the other way. If the Canes PP wasn't flaccid as heck all series, it probably would have been. Now we have the momentum going into a home game, where we historically play better.

Yeah if it wasn’t for the rangers limiting the canes to shit shots with no rebounds and no pp at all, and 4 shorthanded goals for the rangers. And goalies are a part of the team too so yes we win in that category too. Winning because of a goalie being better is still the team no? Funny how biased ppl can be that they ignore their own telling of why they are even and canes haven’t been dominating, other than period 3 of last game. Woulda coulda shoulda rangers were up 3-0 canes won 2. And now all the canes fans think what the rangers thought that the series is over but it doesn’t work that way, Rangers are clearly still in it with less games to win to move on.

  • @brandoncashion
    @brandoncashion 15 дней назад +7

    Story is Special Teams. Canes (largely) absolutely control 5v5 play. Games that get a lot of broken up time with Powerplays muck us up bigtime. Our PP has been real bad, and though our PK is decent, that is the one place the Rangers DOMINATE in general. So I'm not surprised the tilt of this battle so far has really to do with Special Teams play. It is ironic that the Game 4 go-ahead goal was a PP goal by the Canes tho. Squirrels eventually find a nut I guess.
    Games 4 and 5, minimal penalties, and Canes grind out Rod's system and trust it'll find a bounce. It did.
    I'm still not putting the mortgage on the 0-3 to 4-3 reverse sweep happening, but this series went from bummer to massively entertaining and interesting.
    EDIT: The other part of the game that the Rangers do VERY well and we've mostly minimized in the last 2 games is transition play. generating 2v1s , clean 3v2's, etc. We've done a better job mitigating or breaking those up as they come. The Trouba SH 2on1 being the last fruitful one.

    This type of performance after going home with a chance to close it out feels like they might've gotten too comfortable and thought a win was preordained. This is why I'm so fond of the mindset Tocchet's got the Canucks buying into right now. Every team in the post season if they play hard has a shot of beating another team. They might be skating uphill to do it, but as long as you're still pushing for a result and not letting your ego start cashing in cheques before the job is done, you can still upset expectations.
    Winning the cup is hard and even perennial contenders get bounced for unlucky or silly chances(key injuries, untimely bug in the locker room, poor ice surface one game, stanchion another). Just convince yourself that you haven't done anything until that thing is done, don't get too high, don't get too low. The only thing to focus on is focusing on staying in your zone to get the job done, everything else is a distraction.

    As a Canes fan, I don't think the Rangers have much to worry about. Considering Andersen's shaky performances, I can tell that one of the next two games he'll have another rough night (the Trouba goal this night just highlights how he lets in easy goals at the worst times). Aside from that, most of the factors benefitting the rangers (pp, special teams, Igor) are still there, and considering Carolina has been peppering Igor every game with shots, we've only saw the other end of the stick this game, with better goaltending from Freddie and some fortunate goals for Carolina.

    Even despite the first 3 game losses, as a Canes fan I kept saying there was no way the series was over. The games were so close. Both teams use almost identical systems. They're built differently but take advantage of the same types of players. A few bounces the wrong way and a hot goalie, we were in a 3-0 hole. But that's just it... We basically lost to a few bad bounces and a goalie. All the games were 1 goal games. This is the first one in 5 games that kind of looked like a blowout.
    This series was always going to be a 6-7 game series in my opinion. And the past 2 games, Canes have definitely looked like the much more composed team, staying patient and just finding ways to outwork the Rangers and get past Igor (who is an absolute machine so far this playoffs). Losing to a goalie always feels bad, but the momentum may be shifting in the opposite direction.
    Either way this series is still going to be insane and dramatic. It's going to be good playoff hockey.

Anderson will blow up & the Rangers will advance. The Canes weakness is in net for sure. Anderson will have a brain-fart game that he is known for, series over. I predicted Florida & Dallas as the final at the start of the playoffs & I'm sticking to that.

The Canes kill is finally showing up, but being on the powerplay is the most dangerous situation the Canes can be in now...that's sad. Goaltending is also why the Rangers managed to take the first three games. I think the Rangers will find a way to win in game 6, unfortunately for me as a Canes fan. We'll see. as a Rangers fan all i can say is I'm disgusted. In my opinion the momentum shifted when they decided to play Chytil in game 2. He is in no shape for a playoff game and I knew that having him play would throw off the mojo. The team was solid, playing off each other and mixing it up was not the right call. Then Chytil gets "sick" when you know its cause of his head injury. Now theres a funk in the locker room, your teammate who made the effort to come back for the playoffs got hurt again and everyone has to play knowing that. And instead of bringing the lineup back to where it was, they decide to play Brodzinski instead of Rempe for game 3 and we get bullied all over the place. With the top stars on this team not showing up like they should and making sloppy mistakes every shift it falls onto fourth line players like Cuylle Goodrow and Rempe to pick up the slack and either they don't trust Rempe and bench him for someone else or they trust him and don't double shift in the Third and keep him on the bench. There are far worse offenders who deserve that bench spot and one of them isn't Matt Rempe.

    The Canes have been under-performing all playoffs, so it's not surprising to me that they suddenly decide to show up. That said, the Rangers fans utterly INVADE the PNC center when the Rangers come to town, and "home advantage" isn't so swell. I don't know if they fly-in for the game, or if it's just the entire town of Cary, NC spams ticketmaster. They seriously take up at least 1/4 of the arena. They're loud, present, and demoralizing af. You could see the frustration in Kuznetsov's slash to the glass (where a bunch of rangers fans were grouped up) when he scored on 5/11 in Raleigh. In an arena famous for their LOUD home fans, it takes the wind out of everyone's sails.

    As a Canes fan I might have a different perspective. Those first three games honestly might have messed up the Rangers’ flow. They certainly messed up the Canes’ flow. But I’ve seen teams vs the Canes get power plays early in games, get a couple easy goals, get some false confidence, then get crushed. The dig about the officiating in game five I’ll let go. Regardless of how they got there, the Rangers got some JUICY power plays. Game three was gifted to the Rangers and might be the difference in the series by the end of it. The Rangers need to work on 5 on 5 play, don’t bank on power plays and definitely don’t try to “draw” any. Canes strengths right now are 5 on 5 and that’s it. Their weaknesses are power plays and goaltending.
