Others undoubtedly played important roles...but Darwin stood above the rest. He was such a scientist that found it just to give credit to other scientist...his were the example of true scientific principles...he deserves that special spot of the greatest of all scientist...such humbleness can only be found in true genius n greatness...that is all I can say.

ok, many people may not belive me, but I'm going to tell you anyways:
I am a 13 year old, about to graduate middle school by the end of this month, I just want to say (and no im not flexing) I'm so amazed by darwin's discoveries/therios about evolution. We had learned it in my science class. But I felt like we hadn't been told everything about Charles Darwins discoveries. Yes we did learn about the Galapagos islands, but that's just a sliver of what he discovered. When we finished that unit, I was left feeling a little frustrated, I wanted to learn more about it but I didn't know how. So I searched up "documentary" scrolled a little and saw this. I was honestly excited. Right now I'm painting my nails and watching this. I would like to thank the creator for making this video and going fully into depth. honestly I didn't know over have the stuff mentioned in this video. Now you may be wondering why i said people would not belive a 13 year would want to educate themselves, its because most young teenagers are thought to not really give a care about wanting to actually absorb the information and actually want to learn more about a person or time beyond school, and that's normally the case. But something about Darwin discoved one of the most important discoveries in WORLD made me want to learn more. Normally I don't want to learn anything from school, well, out of school. So once again i would like to thank the creater for this video, and I want to thank any viewer for reading this. :)

I did get a book to read for my son, and he is mentioned in there just as much as Darwin. It is good to realize that a lot of times it is a question of luck to get the credit for it.
Studying Biology in college, I loved revolutionary biology and animal behavior. Charles Darwin forever will be remembered for his legacy to the sciences. What an amazing human being and naturalist. We need more of these people in our modern world.

We visited Down House a few months ago - a fascinating combination of "period family home" and exhibition centre. Very well worth visiting! Darwin's story should give great hope to anybody who feels drawn to a field of activity that is contrary to the expectations of their parents 😊 Follow your dreams and great things can happen!

Alfred Russell Wallace is certainly still known among historians of science. He did not contribute as much as Darwin to the general theory of evolution, but did make a seminal contribution to geography as it relates to evolution. The geographical line separating the animals of Asia and New Guinea--Australia is still called the Wallace Line.
And Darwin, the capital of Australia's state the Northern Territory, is the only city in the world to be named after a scientist. The Beagle sailed up a river there only to become grounded so they had to throw the cannons overboard to refloat the ship. The cannons were only recently found.

While Darwin gets nearly all the credit for evolution theory, poor A.R, Wallace is remembered at best as a footnote.
It is my personal belief that if Wallace hadn't been snapping at Darwins' heels by independently reaching the same ideas about natural selection, Darwin would have continued procrastinating and putting off publishing his own theory until he died.
I also believe that because Darwin was higher in the Victorian class system, he got far more attention.
Wallace didn't know that by being in South-east Asia when the joint paper with Darwin was published, it would forever leave him in Darwin's shadow.
Then poor Wallace got involved with arguing with Flat-Earthers.......one REALLY needs a heart of stone not to feel sorry for the man!

Yes he does get most of the credit, and for a reason, he did the vast majority of the work to demonstrate it. Quite a few people pondered on the idea, including Wallace, but didn't do the decades of work that Darwin did. A few rationalised it, but Darwin did the empiricism.
You might be right about Wallace being the catalyst to publishing though, he knew what a storm would be created, one which unfortunately is still controversial, in some minds at least, nearly 200 years later!

Look ill share something personal. I’ve personally seen Jesus (Not worthy), Heaven and Hell. Hell is worse than what you think (I was shaking after that experience), and Heaven is better than what you think. I have also received a personal healing miracle, I can go into details if you want. This is how God works. If you give Him the benefit of the doubt, He gives you more and more. Would I spend even 2 minutes preaching if I had an ounce of doubt? (I’ve experienced way too much)
Thank you for this excellent biography of Darwin. I think he came by his theories and observations honestly, and gave credit to those who were in parallel with him, or who expanded upon his own work. He was well regarded among his peers, which says much for his character.
He has had a profound effect on scientific thought to this day…and never professed his work to be more than a theory derived from direct observation and research. To publish a work so antithetical to the religious doctrine of his time took great courage.

You are a bit confused, there is nothing above a theory in science. A theory in science, just like musical or educational theory, is the theoretical background you need to understand the facts. In this case facts like speciation or the fossil to give 2 prominent examples, and the theory explains how and why they are all connected, how and why spoeciationb happens etc. etc.

Sincere compliments on this documentary and sence of your objectivity. We could not blame Darwin for not having electronic microscope and knowledge of genetics. Mutations are always within the species but the genotype remains the same. As far as I recall from my training and in the environment that was anything but religious, there is significant historical as well as archaeological gap in homosapiens development chain yet to be explained.
A genotype is changed by mutation. If there enough mutations in the subset of a species, those creatures will not be able to breed with the main group of their original species and will either go extinct or become a new species.

At the time, many scientist suspected we had evolved, what nobody new was the mechanism involved. That is the reason Wallace returned on a second trip after his first ship caught fire and sank with his findings. That would be Thomas Henry Huxley. He was nicknamed Darwins Bulldog. He was a superb comparative anatomist, and was convinced our nearest relatives were chimpanzees and gorillas, in which he was almost perfectly right. (Chimps are actually closer to us than to gorillas.)

I mean the Darwinian concept of invisible evolution: a stem cell evolved from itself, which multiplied itself invisibly. No one has seen this, yet this evolution is used against God. Observable evolution adapting to the environment does not need to be proven, it is so obvious. From this they manipulate the invisible. If it were true, it would be visible, and it would be evident, no need to prove it.

I find it interesting that a man who thinks so laterally, who changed the way we think about the world and it’s rule, can also be the kind of person who opposes slavery. Yet so many religious people were for slavery and maintaining the status quo. Ironic really. It’s still those people that pass judgment that they are morally better.

Theory back in Darwin's time, Fact now, in our time! Science is always expanding our knowledge, faith in religion is a strange concept to us scientific types! My father was a maths/ Physics teacher so my approach towards all things is based on hard,proven facts.I got microscopes, telescope, fossil kits for my presents! And tend to win all debates on the non- existence of religion (like my da). It is easy to disprove "faith", which is all the they have to argue over! The question, possums, is not about "who" may have created us? But how our universe was created, and hey we're getting there...slowly. In one of my visitations to hell, Jesus showed me a person who was a Christian (Jesus said “he was a Christian like you”). But the guy unfortunately started sleeping around (1 cor 6:9). He died middle aged and went to hell forever it was dark but Jesus lit up the area, he asked Jesus for another chance but unfortunately it was too late for him, Pretty sad, Repent and ask Jesus to help you with your struggles (James 4:7)
This was a joy to watch. I am a huge fan of Stephen Jay Gould. His first book, Ever Since Darwin, should be the introductory textbook for science curricula. Don't forget Louis Agassiz, the argument-from-design fundamentalist whose name to this day adorns the Harvard chair occupied by Stephen Jay Gould. We should change it to the Gould chair. Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. God showed His love by suffering, dying on the cross and rising from the dead for you, now you show Love back by repenting of your sins (lying, stealing, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain etc) and believing in Jesus as your Lord and saviour so that Heaven is in your future not hell
He did his best to include Wallace, which was the honorable thing to do. However, the breadth, depth, and painstaking attention to detail across the entirety of the then available sciences would have been astounding if accomplished by a legion of men. The man's powers of scrutiny and perception were almost an argument for supreme agency in and of themselves. For the average person, they were difficult to fathom; it remains incomprehensible even today for laymen to understand many of the concepts Darwin developed, let alone accept that one individual could or would go to such lengths simply to assuage the least coveted characteristic on earth, curiosity. And when we consider the time and place when most of Darwin's contributions took place, it becomes increasingly difficult to look at religion as a victimless crime. And make no mistake about it, it is a crime _rife_ with victims. In fact, an argument could be made for modern-day religious approaches as being nothing other than an all-out assault on both nature _and_ reason. To have a relationship with God on earth so you can spend eternity together in Heaven. So, what pushes me away from God? Hell is worse than what you think (I was shaking after that experience), and Heaven is better than what you think. I have also received a personal healing miracle, I can go into details if you want. This is how God works. If you give Him the benefit of the doubt, He gives you more and more. Would I spend even 2 minutes preaching if I had an ounce of doubt? (I’ve experienced way too much)
