  • I've already started acquiring parts for the project LS430 with a bad transmission, but today we're taking a deeper dive into what it's going to take to get this thing back on the road and JJ in Motion approved.

    I love the positiveness that you put into the proyects. When something is absolutely not working as it should, just laugh ironically hahah. You are doing great, its just a matter of time(and work) that you end up with a nice riding car

    Love it! I'm currently working to bring back my 2002 LS430 that the previous owner clapped out. Luckily, most of the mechanical maintenance has been done but lots of work to do still! Cheers from Houston!

    My advice is to take the car to the car wash .
    And wash it very well from underneath , you can't work like that .

    Just subscribed. My 98 Land Cruiser has about 340K miles on it and has suffered through two teenage sons "owning" it during college, first jobs, etc. Best "car" I've ever owned. When it does pass by my house I give it a once-over and usually change the oil if I have time. Knock wood, it's going strong!

      @@JJinMotion i recently got new oem suspension and engine mounts for my 2000 ls400, so smooth. I would recommend finding which dealer sells parts for the cheapest. I found one that sells for 27% off for all and sometimes they have 17% or 15% off extra for all on their official Lexus parts websites on special occasions, so almost 44% off on all parts. Also they do free shipping when u shop online until next year. Could save u ALOT of money for ur project. 🙌🏼

    Greetings from Los Angeles. I have a 2005 black on black UL myself…. Needs lots of work😅 I wish I was as handy as you. Mine does need a new transmission and I’m in the process of buying that this week. I’ve owned the car for 12 years and it’s been great but it’s got 230,000 miles and it needs to be maintained.

    The caps you pointed out at the back of the intake look like air bleed points for the cooling system.
    The throttle body of the 2UZFE in my mom's GX470 had coolant crusties on top. IIRC a little metal plug had worked itself loose somehow. I knocked the plug back down with a punch, on the off chance that would fix it, and to my surprise it did.

    Valve covers are almost always the leak on these. Anything not FIPG glued together is suspect.

    Just fyi while a minor detail I don’t think the needle jiggle is related to the terminals. I think it’s just a quirk of these. My LS430 was absolutely babied with new battery, new alt etc and had the needle jiggle. I’ve seen so many that have that jiggle on startup.

    Don't replace that radiator, that one I guarantee you they replaced it, that one is oem toyota new spec which is made in China, the original is made in Japan, and by the color of it looks new, the original would've been brown from age. I have an ls430 and I replaced the radiator 4 months ago with oem and it is the same as yours. Good luck with the new project.

    • @texan176
      @texan176 5 месяцев назад +1

      Agree 100%. I also replaced mine with dealer OEM and it is made in China now. Cost is around $340 from online discount dealers while walk in retail is over $400. It is the same radiator as the Rockauto Denso for around $140. All you get is the Toyota marking on the upper tank and the Toyota cardboard box. I am very disappointed with Toyota for that kind of price gouging. However it is a great sign on your car. The person who had it insisted on OEM parts or used a mechanic or dealer that went OEM with everything.

    I gotta say, I don't really understand all the fuzz with this car man. It ain't particularly pretty, it ain't that reliable, it ain't very cheap to own and maintain. I guess it all comes down to the fact that ppl in the US love BIG cars with V8.

      Have you driven a luxury boat like this? It's superior to the same era Mercedes, or pretty much anything German, plus far easier and cheaper to maintain.

      @JoeBlack666 5 месяцев назад

      @@Mis73rRand0m Yeah, I agree with you, but I'd much rather go for the Lexus GS300 from the same period. The GS is also a luxury boat, just easier and cheaper to work on and with less things that could go wrong.

      It's gorgeous, but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As for the reliability, it is definitely one of the most reliable cars ever created, and there are thousands of testimonials and endless data to back it up. People don't just say it's reliable, it actually is. It's definitely not cheap to own or maintain, you got that part right.
