make sure you do some research on how emerald's rng system works because for certain types of encounters there is a very good possibility you could hunt forever and never find a shiny
i somehow willed this into my recommended after watching a few vids on dexnav chaining from 9 years ago... so cool to see that someone else is still doing dexnav! makes me want to do these hunts myself, it would be so cool to have a shiny from these games transferred up to scarlet and violet
This video reminded me that I still have all of the DS Pokemon games to finish (Y, Moon, Ultra Moon, Omega Ruby) and that there is always a chance I'll find a random shiny I won't be able to transfer forward to switch because I didn't get pokemon home when I had the chance (tbf that wasn't really my fault, I got my 3DS for christmas)
if you mod your 3ds you can still download pokemon bank and even all the other pokemon games as well as vc versions doesnt cost you a penny and works absolutely flawless after modding your console you can also technically cheat in your games but i dont rlly do that i mainly have a modded console so i could hunt my shiny celebi and transfer it
Just started Dexnav shiny hunting this year and it’s been pretty fun! I’ve generally had great luck getting every shiny I have under 1000 encounters, except for trapinch I’m not quite sure how far over 999 encounters I’ve gone but I’m definitely at around 1400 encounters now with zero luck as they often move too fast and run away, get scared away, or the Dexnav just says there aren’t any nearby. Hoping this hunt ends soon cause it’s super frustrating
So for trapinch do NOT battle them. Dexnav them, get the encounter, and run away. On a chain of 5 they will always be super fast and it’s not worth the headache. I’ve gone over max search level and no shiny. It happens just keep trying ✨

@@tracydainton in the desert, surfing and in caves when you build a chain “KO Pokemon” every 5th encounter they will always get super quick and it’s really not worth the trouble. You maxed out your search level so you have best shiny odds anyway. You just gotta keep trying ✨
I was hunting a shiny Ralts early in the game. I wanted it in a great ball for the color matching, but I already had a couple on hand so I didn't bother buying more. I finally got one around search level 250. Somehow that level 3 Ralts broke out of both of my great balls, so I had to catch it in a premier ball instead ;-; Now to drive myself more insane I'm hunting another shiny Ralts so I can have shiny Gallade and Gardevoir.
I got a question. When dexnav and another Pokémon pops up while chaining can I just make that Pokémon flee and keep chaining or will it break my chain. I’ve been shiny hunting for days with good success so it might not be a problem.
@@DannyRayqu those are really old videos. I’m in the process of making an updated video for Dexnav. Dexnav chain 100% does help BUT it’s not required to help you find a shiny Meaning you could break your chain a bunch of times but with high search level you may just find the shiny Pokémon that way Or if you have a shiny charm that can also be a huge help as well ✨
@@DannyRayqu encounter the Pokemon in general. If you do Pokemon hordes for some Pokemon it goes up by 5. It’s all encounter based to raise search level
@@DannyRayqu so since you want a low level ralts the main thing is to encounter as many as possible 1st. Get a maxed out search level of 999 is the best shiny buff you will have since you want it to be low level. So basically encounter ralts and run away and search again for ralts. The dexnav will tell you if there is a level jump so if you really want it to be a low level shiny just scare away the ralts and search again.
I got super lucky playing Alpha Sapphire the other day I wanted me a level 13 ralts so that's all I was hunting for and on my 46th encounter I got a shiny ralts I was so shocked! Was level 3 but I wasn't even mad!
I’ve been shiny hunting eevee and I’m on 800 encounters. Not feeling very hopeful for it now and I feel like I’m doing the method wrong. How long do your hunts typically go on for?
@@JokesLP so my plan is to get the surfing Pokemon with Dexnav in the small pond, but I wasn’t having fun with it so I’m going to do it at a later time. In general you can surf in other areas for surf Dexnav shiny Pokemon I’ve done it before so it 100% works.
@@SmkGaming05 i am currently attempting the same challenge in OR, but i just couldnt get the dexnav encounters on the water as random ones appeared in the gras 99% of the time and once i had one on the water i couldnt manage to get ON the water without it fleeing..
@@JokesLP you have to be on the right side from the water so you don’t get grass encounters. When the Pokemon spawns in the water you have to wait for it to go under water then you start to surf. It’s all a timing thing and it gets boring really fast because the whole process takes awhile to do. Hence why I’m not doing it like I originally planned. I can always do it later
@@JokesLP yup you basically are to the right of the pond but still close enough to the water to make a Pokemon spawn. The problem I ran into is it’s difficult to search for the Pokemon you want. Most of my encounters I did was just running in circles and doing it that way because a Dexnav Pokemon would show up in the water. When I would search for a Pokemon it failed to spawn a Dexnav Pokemon a lot of the time. It still works just not as good as you would want it be
I'm trying to get shiny tailow with dex nav, only gen 3 mon i still need shiny, but I've been struggling quite a while with it, do you go 999 search power for all of them?
So this is a challenge thing I’m doing and I’ve played so much that most of my Pokemon are at 999 search level. You don’t have to get max search level to find a shiny Pokemon but sometime it just happens because bad luck.

@@spud9079 you don’t need the shiny charm for quick encounters. It just “helps” all you have to do is dexnav chain and every 5 battles is a shiny boost. If you get the chain to 50 and 100 those will be the best extra shiny boosts. Remember to BATTLE all Dexnav encounters and not just the Pokemon you want to continue the chain. You know the chain is working when every 5th encounter the level jumps up by 10 ✨

@@hunterreese8716 yeah your chain does break when that happens. Get a Trapinch with the Ability "Arena Trap" at the front of your party. It prevents ralts from teleporting away

Very important question: Does synchronize work with the DexNav? I have heard from many recourses that he does and it doesn't. Could you clear this up?
It does work 👍 I always try to synchronize when I dexnav these days. It’s not 100% that the shiny will get the correct nature but it does work overall

Does it matter if you accidentally scare away a Pokémon? Not necessarily the one you’re hunting for, any, like a hidden one or something?
When you scare away Pokemon it does break the chain no matter what Pokemon it is
