Yeah, they tried to retcon that she wasn't a starcraft player even though starcraft obviously exists in Overwatch's world. It was a stupid idea in my opinion and I tend to ignore it.

That moment when you realize that this annihilates the fourth wall of the OW world. Since D. Va is a Starcraft player, she's meeting the characters she controls in "real life." Since she knows that they're in a game, she makes them self-aware in a sense. Then, upon realizing that she, being with them, must be in a game, she too becomes self-aware. I mean, yeah we'll never see this happen in-game, but can you imagine what that does to your worldview? Actually, don't imagine it. Just look up the Deadpool that killed the Marvel universe.

Instead of such strong nerfs, I feel like they could've tweaked her in some other way without necessarily nerfing her as she's always been pretty useless in comp (but still take out cold blood though) Also at the guy above you: the PR and hero developement are 2 different teams. No matter what you think about the characters, as a hero you gotta admit they're uniquely and well designed. So I'd say the hero dev team (who don't decide which hero's next i'm pretty sure) is doing a great job.
Such strong nerfs? I don't know what you're doing with her, but I still maintain a 65% winrate with her overall and 80% in Heroleague (Plat1). It still surprises me how people seem unable to get the hang of her
But there's no reason they should stay the same. Maybe the other OW heroes were just easier to convert to heroes whereas D.Va needed some help. Who knows?

i think that's a pretty stupid observation considering Tracer is the mascot for overwatch. Zarya was added because she's easy to do. Lucio was added because we needed an overwatch support. and genji and dva were basically worked on at the same time.
I mean, it looks pretty easy to avoid, even when it's charging at you. And from what I've read on the patch notes, it seems to do more damage the closer you are to the self destructing mech.
You'd have to time it pretty well. o the explosion goes off just as the time stop's stasis effect is over. I'm pretty sure you can't take damage in stasis. It doesn't mean it's not a powerful combo if timed correctly, but still. I doubt it's as easy to pull off as it would seem. Zarya ult and mecha explosion would probably be a more likely meta. Easier to pull of and just as if not more effective.
But the thing is Zeratul can lower the Void Prison earlier just like Nazeebo can do with his zombies.But unfortunately a lot of players seem to forget about that.

D. Va already sounds exactly like Kled and Skaarl: Lose partner HP, lose partner and access to most abilies. You can get partner back by attacking enemies.
Patch notes state that they reduced the available maps to make sure the new players coming with their huge let's-leech-off-of-Overwatch's-playerbase campaign from being overwhelmed and scared off and to bring Hanamura into the spotlight. Furthermore they state that on the 15th more maps will be made available but still not all maps for several more weeks. Why they didn't just link the maps to account level beats me since this is just a temporary fix for a far fetched issue that will always be there for every new player at any point in time. Very poor execution Blizzard. Does not live up to your usual standards.

I think everyone just gave up, since every hero these days just comes with ridiculous broken abilities. Started with Li Ming, and now its like EVERY hero is broken, so you can't really complain I guess. Balance in this game has seriously gone out the window.
almost everyone here hates Overwatch heroes being added into the game but in my honest opinion, I think they are great additions. Blizzard is making a huge difference and contrast with other MOBA. This is blizzard's game and they have the right to do whatever they want. More maps, different and unique heroes are what make the game so much colorful and diversi-ful. But still, I want Kelthuzad, Hellscream and Fenix.
I'm guessing they thought it would be lazy since its in ow already, I still expected it to be the first skin she gets after release. Hopefully the goliath skin looks good.
Regardless, they made the precedent to have Oni Genji in both games. It would make zero sense if Officer D.Va wasn't added to HotS when the planning for the same crossover event as Oni Genji. The development of this event, OW's version of the skin, and HotS' D.Va debut are all concurrent. It'd be more work for themselves not to make Officer D.Va skins, while making it a thing people would obviously complain about. Plus all the other Officer D.Va mounts, banner, icon, and spray are already in HotS.

I think they mean she has no hard CC, rather than her being weak to being CCed(which is not even true considering her only Mech Heroic gives her a long Unstoppable effect). She only has a knockaway in self destruct and a knock aside boosters, and the only meaningful slow she has is tied to her Mech heroic(though she might have other options as part of her talents.)
They list her as having significant weakness to CC because she relies heavily in her movement abilities to engage and disengage. Imagine Malfurion: sure, stuns and roots can wreck him, but he doesn't lose significant mobility when rooted. He's slow moving naturally and has no way of getting out of something like Leoric's Heroic. D.va, on the other hand, relies a lot on her Boosters and can quickly move around things like Tassadar's Force Wall, but she is unable to use her superior mobility in her favor if she is stunned of rooted. Just like Genji. That annoying little cyborg would be just a squishy assassin without his movement abilities, but because of them he can be incredibly hard to actually kill.
D.Va's origin story of being good at videogames feels like a serious case of wish fullfillment for Blizzard's playerbase. Her design (the pilot suit) also seems pretty jail-baity.

I think everyone just gave up, since every hero these days just comes with ridiculous broken abilities. Started with Li Ming, and now its like EVERY hero is broken, so you can't really complain I guess. Balance in this game has seriously gone out the window.

almost everyone here hates Overwatch heroes being added into the game but in my honest opinion, I think they are great additions. Blizzard is making a huge difference and contrast with other MOBA. This is blizzard's game and they have the right to do whatever they want. More maps, different and unique heroes are what make the game so much colorful and diversi-ful.
But still, I want Kelthuzad, Hellscream and Fenix.

I'm guessing they thought it would be lazy since its in ow already, I still expected it to be the first skin she gets after release. Hopefully the goliath skin looks good.
But Oni Genji is in both games and has the same requirement of having to play HotS to unlock it in OW.
David Cote Yes but the skin came out in ow last year so not the same as releasing the same skin at the same time in both games.
Regardless, they made the precedent to have Oni Genji in both games. It would make zero sense if Officer D.Va wasn't added to HotS when the planning for the same crossover event as Oni Genji. The development of this event, OW's version of the skin, and HotS' D.Va debut are all concurrent. It'd be more work for themselves not to make Officer D.Va skins, while making it a thing people would obviously complain about. Plus all the other Officer D.Va mounts, banner, icon, and spray are already in HotS.
I never said she wouldn't be added, just their most likely reason for why it wasn't her first skin.

plenty of heroes have methods of escape or cc reduction effects.
I think they mean she has no hard CC, rather than her being weak to being CCed(which is not even true considering her only Mech Heroic gives her a long Unstoppable effect). She only has a knockaway in self destruct and a knock aside boosters, and the only meaningful slow she has is tied to her Mech heroic(though she might have other options as part of her talents.)
They list her as having significant weakness to CC because she relies heavily in her movement abilities to engage and disengage.
Imagine Malfurion: sure, stuns and roots can wreck him, but he doesn't lose significant mobility when rooted. He's slow moving naturally and has no way of getting out of something like Leoric's Heroic.
D.va, on the other hand, relies a lot on her Boosters and can quickly move around things like Tassadar's Force Wall, but she is unable to use her superior mobility in her favor if she is stunned of rooted. Just like Genji. That annoying little cyborg would be just a squishy assassin without his movement abilities, but because of them he can be incredibly hard to actually kill.

there are so many characters that fit in so well with hots and the other blizz games, like reinhardt or hanzo. But why lucio, tracer and zarya?! They look so out of place jesus crust
To be fair, Tracer is Overwatch's mascot, so it makes sense to put her in what was formerly Blizzard All-Stars.

Like I wrote I don't find them particularly boring by how the play but their characters. If I'm not interested in a character then I'm only going to play him/her half-hearted if you know what I mean.
I agree all the supports are just boring the only one I like a little is Auriel she is more agressive oh also Brightwing if you dont like him/her/it you just dont have good partner to go with :D
Having self-destruct as an E and either of those ults (ugh that big shot ult combined with the light pistol dps they showed - half healthing a jaina that quickly? really? Pretty sure that's even more dps than it does in overwatch) seems like it will be really OP.
HoTS' D.Va seems way more fun to play than in OW lol!
