It looks like a Prius unit is inserted on to the steering column just inside the bulkhead (I say Prius, in fact it is a good quality Japanese part used in a lot of Japanese cars) . Similair conversions can be made with GM electric steering assist boxes, there are many out there. Dare I say it, becoming common on classics. You cut the column and insert this into it, then a couple of brackets and wiring connections. A used box is around 50 quid but there is some cutting and shaping and joints needed. A good hobbyist could fit this in a day and make the brackets etc. The ups and downs is that everything else remains as is, your steering relay box and everything else. Any play in there and you will need to fix it, not just force the wheels with this electric motor.
