I have had such a difficult time being kind and compassionate to myself and it's so hard to change. Everytime I apply self compassion music or meditiation it feels like it never sticks. I want to have a healthy and loving relationship with myself but I am at a lost with how to get there. Please God send me some help and guidance
Thank you for sharing so honestly💗 To feel compassion and love for your own being is a process. It is not something that usually happens over night, but a process of dedication, intention and daily choices over time. When we feel a lack of love and/or compassion for our self it usually can be traced back to your early childhood. When did you start having thoughts and feeling that devalue yourself? What was it a response to? Was there someone in your family that you are close to that you were modelling that also lacked self love and compassion? Now these questions might help you get an understanding of the origin of your lack of self compassion. The next step in the process is your daily choice to do it differently. I will list some exercises, daily choices you can incorporate to become kinder and more loving to yourself: 1) Mirror exercise: stand in front of the mirror, look yourself in the eyes, say our loud "I am worthy of my own love and compassion. I am worthy of Love. I love myself deeply. I am willing to be there for myself with love and compassion. No matter what I have to go through, and for how long, I am here for myself." Do this every day when you wake up and before you go to bed. Notice how you feel. Do you resist your own love? Do any emotions in you get triggered? It does not matter if you do not believe yourself at first, it will come with time and practice. 2) Write a list of things/activities that you appreciate and know that it makes you feel good. It can be things such as: Take a bath, go for a walk, pick flowers and place it in your home, Light a candle and put on your favorite music, visit someone you love, and you know loves you back: family, friend, partner. creative outlets: Dancing, writing, painting ect. Exercise. Feed yourself nutritious food. Big or small gestures everyday that you appreciate. Do one thing everyday from your list. Tune in on your needs, and take care of yourself. 3) Write positive affirmations on post-it notes, and place them around your house where you will see it. Mirror, fridge, door, bedroom ect. In our video descriptions we have many affirmations written, choose affirmations that resonates with you. 4) Before bed, write a gratitude diary. Write down 3 things you are grateful for today. 5) Do nice things for others. This will gently remind you of the kindness in your heart. 6) Search content online from coaches and guides that can give you inspiration. 7) Meditate.
