    Kobe Bryant Full Highlights (Rare)
    LA Lakers vs Chicago Bulls
    March 13, 2004
    United Center
    - 35 pts, 8r, 3a, 2s, 1b / 12-25 fg, 1-4 3pt, 10-11 ft
    2nd half - 23 pts / 8-16 fg, 1-2 3pt, 6-6 ft
By all means, Kobe Bryant’s 2003-04 season was a regression from his previous. Off-court tribulations and on-court injuries were the easily identifiable factors affecting his mental/physical well being and consequential performance on the floor. The addition of future (at time) HOF’s Karl Malone and Gary Payton readied the Lakers for another title run. However, Kobe’s role offensively had been significantly lessened compared to years prior as a result of the two veterans’ arrival.
Through mid-February’s All Star Weekend in Los Angeles, Kobe was averaging only 21.5p, 4.7r and 4.3a on 42-36-85 (%) while playing in 36 of the Lakers’ 50 games. The 5 day layoff appeared to work wonders for his mind and body. In LA’s first 7 games following ASW, Kobe went on an absolute tear, posting 32.7p, 8r and 8a, shooting 55-39-86 en route to 6 Laker wins.
Facing the Sonics on March 5th at Staples, Kobe re-injured his already vulnerable right shoulder. He returned to action 5 days later. Following subpar nights in Boston and Minnesota, Kobe’s 35 point showcase in Chicago was the first amidst an 11 game stretch in which he averaged 29.8p, 6r and 4a on 48-39-87 in just under 40 mpg. The Lakers were victorious in all 11.

Take away the legal problems he had that year. The 2003-2004 season was really a underrated season for Kobe's career.

Without those legal issues kobe would been MVP or runner up and could of saved his legs more for the finals ....games 3 4 and 5 I just felt he wasn't getting the lift in his shot to be amazing

On the flip side, the fact that he managed to make All NBA First Team and All Defensive First Team that year despite tremendous adversity is very impressive because it required a lot resilience and perseverance.

Just too much drama that year with Shaq. Kobe was pissed they blew the 4 peat they couldn’t work together after that.

@@franklinyi6934Yea Kobe was pissed Shaq came in out of shape not ready to 4peat & he used the season to recover from his "toe thing" . But Kobe did injure his shoulder on that famous dunk vs the twolves in 03 playoffs & it followed him into the 04 season.

@@jaycarlos3559TBH people only remember the 04 Lakers for losing to Detroit & Kobe drama. Prior to Malone getting injured during the regular season the Lakers were 18-2. Then the injuries started piling on, only GP outta that big 4 played all 82 games. Even Kobe had injuries during that year. Even without the legal issues & off court drama , Kobe wasn't going to win MVP in 04 because he wasn't healthy until the second half of the season.
