  • I won't even start to go through the struggles to ensure we have finally finished 1 x beautiful Yaesu FT107M. This has been a labour of love that inspired my thinking on how much petrol does it take to totally disintegrate a Yaesu FT107M, however, my good mate relented and allowed me to make 1 x very nice radio out of two, (or three in fact as it turned out)and success, finally. This radio tested extremely well, and Im very happy to have it finished, albeit with a lot more grey hair. This video is more of a demonstration of what we have finally achieved for mycgood mate so I will understand if you tune out by minute seven, but a few interesting notes after minute 15 on what to watch out for as I continue testing the beautiful old yaesu ft107m. It still had a couple of adjustments to go even when we thought we were finished.😁😁😁 Cheers brenton vk3cm jdw229 pls subscribe and also feel free to join us on Facebook at Aussie Radio Pickers or vk ham sales and service anytime

thanks for the informative insight into the 107m. I am back on the air after 40 odd years, having dug my old 107m out of the attic, did nothing to it apart from brushing off the dust, rigged up a G5 RV & off I went! Your video gave me the info I needed to bush up on the many knobs & dials I had forgotten just what they did! many thanks again 73s Jim G4PFT

Hey Fella Great Vid, nice to listen to your views and thoughts on this radio..... I have one and watching this has made me want to dig it out again, the power switch has gone on my Ft107 I don't suppose you have one for sale? As I remember trying to get one and I struggled, I guess that's why it ended up in the shed.... 73's Steve

hard to find wrecked FT107 units for parts as they are usually fixable. The only chance is I may have a brand new stock of a very similar switch as I own the entire Bail stock of yaesu spares from 1960's to around 1990s, so this may end up as a solution. email me to brenton@posnav.com.au and we can discuss possibilities. cheers Brenton VK3CM

Brenton, I am one of the lucky ones who has a very stable and sound working Ft-107. Some relay issues . turned out to be dirty contacts. My question is about the notch filter. When I turn it on there is no effect a all. If it never works so be it. Is this something that should be left alone . Any ideas ? anybody...

Brenton, My own 107m is giving all sorts of receive grief. When I heard you mention an oscillating fault my ears pricked up! I had an antenna cable problem and managed to blow the lamp fuse in the protector circuit. Repaired that but I have this weird oscillating on receive that sounds like a chicken about to lay an egg! Tapping around the board I can get it to stop for that moment, but it comes back right away. Not in front of the radio at the moment but looking from the top down, the far right board that plugs in seems to be the issue. I think its a connection issue on the plug-in card. Have you had any similar issues with what you have fixed? I have great TX reports on this old girl, and it is just the oscillation on rx that is annoying. If I dont have an antenna plugged in the noise is more pronounced. It is related somehow to the AGC and Noise Blanker/Mark switches, as moving those switches seems to vary the oscillation. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

Hi Colin, more likely to be on the AGC board by the sounds of it, I have a load of spares here so often I'm cheating a little and replacing boards out on 107 units, but the cleaning of the board connectors can be the culprit for sure. Clean up with some Deoxit D5 and it may bring some positive changes into the equation. Cheers Brenton VK3CM

@@brentonmeadowsvk3cm Where is the AGC located? I am unable to find a dedicated board or any ref to where it is if it is on another board. Thanks

Hi Brenton, couple of questions for you. I have a complete FT107 lineup: transceiver, speaker unit and external VFO. The white model. Clean inside, doesn’t look like anyones messed with it. Assuming I wanted to sell it and it checked out ok, how much would you be putting it on vkclassifieds for? Cheers, Tim, VK4QP.

on dummy load, although a transmission on 10.120 or so would probably be a little more power being closer to its filters tuning point for sure. cheers Brenton vk3cm
