There are very few performances which perfectly capture the essence of the respective piece of art.
These are the ones for which it truely was written.
Maria Callas performed in many of them

Very random fact: my car's number plate includes the letters DLZ. I didn't pick it, but I was delighted when I received the plates! Of course now my car's name is Delizia and I play this aria in my head whenever I walk up to it.

Grazie Theo❤ Maria amava Violetta e la Traviata. E Visconti è stato un grande regista. Ho visto Sonnambula, ma non Traviata

The contrast between the first act and the third... She was a genius, but then so was Visconti. How lucky was the public of the time!
I recently watched this interview with Callas and Visconti: ruclips.net/video/NSGJVkonOks/видео.htmlsi=cd6cKQqgYc1AJFxj
Their mutual understanding, respect, and affection was heartwarming. ❤️

...and how lucky they found each other, Geniouses suffer when they collaborate with common minds

@@LohengrinO and as we know, sadly there was plenty of that for Callas

By a look of 1st excerpt, i think Jolie did a wonderful job for portraying Callas

Ι personally love Jolie, havent seen the movie yet, it is SO difficult to portray a Genius like Callas and Jolie declared she spent months trying to learn how to look while singing and she also said that Maria died being very lonely and she would have been so happy to see how much people LOVE her nowadays... so Im already biased positively towards her

@LohengrinO I'm sure she had enough people around her when she was at her "stardom" years and after that. Besides, Jolie nails this mid - atlantic accent. Except for the fact that she has a higher speaking voice and probably didn't smoke now.
