- Kelly Ripa is taking the high road! The 52-year-old talk show host appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Dear Media’s “Not Skinny Not Fat” podcast and reacted to Kathie Lee Gifford’s comment that she will not read her book “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories.” Kathie Lee’s decision came after Kelly’s book made headlines for her comments about her complicated working experience with “Live” co-host Regis Philbin. "I think anybody that reads the book will have a completely different take," she said.

Kathie Lee and Regis had a special bond.
Just my opinion.
Kathie Lee, was at the beginning of his Regis’s life when he was younger. Kelly, there is an age difference, and he was older. People don’t always get along the same way. Haven’t read the book. Wasn’t aware of the book. But I do believe everybody has the right to tell their truth.
I think Kathy started out in a man's world in TV and knew her place. By the time Kelly came women were making their own choices and standing up for themselves no matter the workforce.
Only thing is there is no "my truth" their truth etc. There is just thee truth. One. Wish we could get that straight right out the gate.
@ashley1994 you must be young. Kathie Lee Gifford. She is a tv legend. An opera singer. And most notably, was the host of "Regis and Kelly" - except it was originally called "Regis and Kathie Lee" - for 15 years. (Kelly Ripa was the later replacement) And then Kathie Lee went on to host "Kathie Lee & Hoda" which was the 4th hour of the Today Show, sort of, the "fun hour" if you will. She's also the widow of Frank Gifford. He is a football great who played for the Giants and then became a sportscaster for 27 years. They were married for 30 years before he passed.
I don't care about "their" truth, I care about "the" truth. Regis isn't here to tell his side, so I hope it is "the truth" and nothing but "the truth", including if some interactions weren't intended to be negative but that is how she took it/how it made her feel.

When Kelly started the show I stopped watching it because she constantly over talked Rhegis and would not let him talk. Since then I cringe anytime I see her on tv.
Kelly has really shown her true colors in the way she has handled herself with her relationships with Michael Strahan and Regis. She is self serving

Gifford doesn't want to see or hear anything negative about Regis, a person she loves dearly. He and his wife are like family to her. Stop trying to make it more than that.
Kelly doesn’t rate to speak to Kathy Lee. Kelly is not worthy. Kelly has no talent whatsoever. Terrible TV host. It’s Unbelievable that she still has a show!
I was a guest on Kelly’s show years ago when Michael was there. He was warm, inviting, and authentic in front of the camera and behind the scenes backstage. Kelly was a nightmare. She is a demanding, abusive narcissist and I don’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth. She was horrible to pretty much everyone, snotty, and entitled until the cameras came on. That’s the only time she’s half way pleasant and it’s all an act. Gross.
Well, she IS from South ( Southern) NJ, where she is one of MANY of the same kind ( they are born and bred the same). Imagine attempting to associate, live, and work with THAT EVERY DAY?! Now you know why so many young people can't wait to leave NJ for college in other areas of the country, never to return to live there....

Yes BUT for Kelly to say what she did about feeling unwanted from the SECOND she walked onto that set had to be incredibly heartbreaking for her so it's completely understandable that she WOULD talk about how it made her feel and she has every right to feel that way about what happened. I wouldn't want to walk into my first day on a new job to basically hear "great, why is SHE here?" either, you know?
That was just his personality. He was always trying to be funny. I'm sure he wasn't serious.
Technically, it wasn't fair for Gelman to push for Kelly's hiring. Regis mentioned more than once, during their opening chat segments, that he preferred Valerie Bertinelli, who was one of the co-hosts the show was auditioning, after Kathie Lee's departure. In all fairness to Kelly, I'm sure it was not only hurtful but humiliating, to constantly be reminded that she was not truly "wanted" by Regis. He was not the easiest person to get along with, as many of us are old enough to remember when Joey Bishop fired him live "on air" when he was the announcer for the Joey Bishop Show back in the late 60's. He and Bishop just could not get along. He, sadly, tended to repeat that humiliation unto others when he became the host of his own show, and Kelly, unfairly, was the unlucky recipient.
I'm sure that $20+mil income must have made it really hard to swallow.

I read her book. It was OK. I'm surprised she didn't mention her other cohost that left, (I'm forgetting his name.) Also, her husband isn't the nicest man he appears to be.
Kelly should have been sophisticated enough to send a note to Kathy regarding the book so she wasn't blindsided. But she got the publicity, so...

Kelly lacks many qualities that Kathie Lee Gifford has including talent and integrity.

@ashley1994 How is what someone depicts on television, a true representation of their character overall and behind the scenes? As we have seen recently with James Corden, Ellen DeGeneres, and others - PLENTY of hosts (and others in the entertainment industry) are being exposed for treating people badly. Why do you think that's news? Because it is such a stark contrast from the person they portray via the media, thus it is shocking for people to hear.

At a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.

I’ll say this, I never have read Kelly’s book. Maybe it’s better left a mystery, at least for me. Another thing, it takes two people to make or break a relationship, so I fault both Regis and Kelly because they are human. Well, Regis “was” because he’s dead. Whether they got along outside of the show or talked away from it, is their business, not mine or for that matter, anyone else’s. I don’t know that Regis wasn’t invited back, because I’m going to have to deny that statement.

I really don't know , how Kelly Ripa's book. can be so interesting '' when she has a boring show with no substance, a 10 year. old girl would be able to do exactly what K. R. does in her show. My niece 13 years old said, people must be bored or deaf to see this show.

Saying anything but, “ Thank you Regis”, you had a working relationship. You are sort of shady toward some things. You trash him in a way,a sneaky way. Why didn’t you tell us your feelings toward Michael Strahan? Okay, so you had little to no relationship with Regis after he left,okay…say…he was an icon and leave it at that.

I quit watching this morning show after Kelly came on it because she just appeared to me to be so very very into herself….not an attractive trait….
Kathie has no desire to read the book. She had a wonderful friendship and working relationship for many years and remained very close friends up until Regis passed. That's her truth. Sad for Kelly that she missed out on being friends with such a great man. Everyone loved Regis. I loved watching Regis for many years and thought he was a class act. Kathie too. Kelly always came across as high maintenance. I hated the way she over reacted with Clay Aiken and things didn't seem well between her and Michael Strahan either. She will never be adored by fans at the level Regis was. I think she's jealous and bitter about that. I'm not buying what she's saying at all.
Correction: Everyone loved who they THOUGHT Regis WAS. Kelly had a different experience with him and that's all she's trying to say. She's not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, it's just what happened to her and she has every right to feel the way she does.

Regis was loved and respected by so many celebrities and fans for many many years. Kelly is known for having feuds and Regis is not. My gut tells me Regis is the real deal and Kelly is the phony. You may disagree and that's fine. I also really respect and admire Kathie for the way she's handled this. If Kelly had any issues with Regis saying what he did she should have brought it up when he was alive and could respond. Her not doing that was pretty suspect and makes me not believe anything she says. It was also classless after he's passed to make a profit off what happened by bringing it up in a book. She knew it would help her sell books.
