Fantastic song, with piano, voice, double voice, and some tambourines, looks almost a like a finish song ! They need to release and remastered this songs without alterations ! Like a new Lp with Now and Then, Real Love, Free as a Bird, and Imagine !
The Piano is really awesome. Love the shuffle he does a few times in there like @ 35 seconds. I Feel like on this brisk winter day feeling unusually good and rested with my feet up on the computer desk looking out the window without a clue as to how I'm going to support myself for the rest of my days.....Like I was meant to be here right now reflecting on my life and the faces that have come and gone.
I love the song, I don't know why John felt it wasn't good enough to include on Double Fantasy or Milk and Honey. From Free as a bird and Now and then I understand that John discarded them (they don't measure up to Woman, Beautiful Boy, etc.), but Real Love does.
I still believe that he intended to make a world class album that would go down in history as the best album, he didn't collect these masterpieces for nothing else
Why are these 3 songs Beatles songs when Beatles split up beforehand? Is it Yoko giving the remaining Beatles another shot at a much sought after reunion?
Anyone know why John went so high in these last 3 songs? It seems Paul did the high songs with the Beatles but maybe Paul found his high voice once he split with Beatles? 🤔
Guessing, I'd say John let the melody do want it wanted to, caring not whether that meant it went higher than his comfort zone. You don't write song in the way that you'd write a letter. Instead, you catch them out from of the aether, and they are what they are. Post manipulation will only subtract from the original thing you've caught. I think John was pretty comfortable with the process ;)
John used to sing both low and high parts in his demo. I though Paul winged it, because it's so hard to sing along John's melody line, but there's a beatles demo, If I Fell, where he does the same thing - sings where he wants Paul's line and then sings where he was planning to be.
The demo sounds alot like some of the old songs that he and Paul used to like back in the day. Though his piano work is wild in between the chorus and versus.
