LIFX is the best option for going behind a desk or TV. the Govee is the best for mounting around ceiling corners. Attempting that with LIFX is prohibitively expensive
I agree. Especially since Govee provides clips that can be drilled in your walls. Lifx is definitely to go behind a desk or under a bed. So expensive to get a wall ceiling setup with lifx.
What makes it the best? I use Philips WiZ LED strips for behind the TV.. and I use TP-Link Kasa LED strips for around the ceilings and desks since it's addressable with 16 individual zones. Both are relatively cheap for what you get, both work with WiFi, both have a high build quality with the plastic cover, both support all the assistant apps, etc. LIFX is way too expensive for what you get. It's overpriced just like Philips Hue.

You are a smart light connoisseur! 😊 Led lights are just lights. They last longer and are more energy efficient in comparison to incandescent (used in all homes back in the day) or CFL lights. They are also the only type of lights that can be non-smart or smart!

Not on this strip. Govee makes 2 kind of LED strips. Wifi enabled (this can be connected to Alexa and google home) And also the Dream color (this is bluetooth app controlled and has multiple colors on a single strip) You can have wifi enabled and multiple colors on a single strip so you'd have to choose which is more import to you...I hope this makes sense lol let me know Links below to make them easier to find. That’s great to hear that this cleared things up. There is one strip that I have that actually does WiFi and multiple colors. It’s called the LIFX Z LED strip. Yes in the govee app you can control all of your govee lights separately and all together. You can make scenes or even schedule times to turn on and off.

Yes you can but will need to be mindful of the power supply. This strip is made to work with 16ft of LEDs so govee doesn’t recommend adding on to this strip.
Is there a way to control multiple stops cut off? Maybe by a connector 90° corner? I wanna have 1 strip under my table but another around a poster on the other side of my room but I dont really want the strip around the whole room....
So I have a question I bought some LED lights thinking that 32.8 feet would be enough for my room except, it didn’t go all the way around it only went around to three corners of my room. So what can I do about that?
Lol either buy an additional 16 foot or a 64 foot Led strip. Would have made it easier if you had measurements before hand. See if you can return it. I think It would be easier to get the longer version so it’s all one piece and easier to change modes and colors in the app.

Nope. These are the WiFi version. The ones that do multiple colors on a single strip are called the dream color. I have those linked in the description as well. Only difference is the WiFi can be controlled by Amazon Alexa and google home but he dream color are Bluetooth and can’t be controlled by smart assistant
Going to buy these but I keep reading reviews saying there is issues with connecting to alexa. Are people just moaning for the sake of it? Or is that the case. Looking to buy 4 sets of 20M.
I am still using this model in my garage which is far away from the router and it never loses WiFi. I command with Alexa to turn on the the Garage and all the lights turn on. But you internet speeds could vary and distance from router..
You only get 4 timers and sleep + wake up..sleep/wake will gradually increase the brightness over 15 minutes.. Make sure your app is up to date…just looked at mine and it’s still there so not sure what needs to be fixed. It’s in the app… you can also try to master rest the strip going to settings of the light and delete then re add it to the app. Hope this helps
It’s recommended to use a hairdryer to warm the strip if it’s less than 50 degrees to get it to stick properly so no I didn’t use it lol. And thanks a lot 🙌🏾
I just purchased these lights (32 ft) for $20 on Amazon. It’s the RGB Wi-Fi enabled one. I was going to use it behind my TV and along the wall. It’s a small corner of my home. Do you think this will do it justice or should I get the other strips mentioned in your video?
I think this strip is great if it’s your first or just getting started with LEDs can’t go wrong. For better options with multiple colors on the strip you may want to invest in a better quality led strip
Hi Max, If you cut the strip you can add 4 pin extensions to make a break in the strip. You only get one controller so all pieces of the strip will need to be connected in order for them to work properly. hope this helps

This one in this video is the RGB version and what you’re after is the RGBIC version. Govee makes rgbic in Bluetooth only and WiFi/Bluetooth. If your into smart home and have Amazon Alexa or google home get the WiFi version, if you do not have smarthome stuff just get the Bluetooth one. Rgb is solid colors only. Rgbic is the rainbow wave effect. Hope this helps

Lol it should be fine. The alcohol is to remove dust and debris to make sure it sticks to the surface so it it felt grippy you should be fine. If it falls you can always buy replacement sticky for the Led strip
Absolutely you can put it behind a TV. It’s pretty long so you can cut as well to fit to your tv size. If you have the budget I’d recommend getting the Govee immersion kit as long as you have a 55inch tv or bigger… I just made a video review about it here ruclips.net/video/BNhyGHtEgL8/видео.html if you’re interested. The price for this kit is a little more but worth it in my opinion.

Hi Daniel. I haven’t tried the minger brand led strip so I’m not sure what the experience would be like. But based from some research...govee Has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectability, plus the Govee app, you can control every aspect of these strip lights, even from the on board controller. You can connect goove to smart assistants like Alexa and google home. minger seems to not have those features... so if you don’t need the WiFi Bluetooth then minger may be a better option for you. You can but you’ll have to solder the cables. Also if you purchase a 16 foot strip you can’t add another 16 foot for a 32 foot due to the power brick. I’d recommend going with philips hue or LIFX because you can buy extensions and those can go more distance off of one power brick. You get that feature at a higher cost. But you can get creative with a budget strip and buy cable organizers to hide parts of the led strip you don’t want to be seen. Hope this info helps Bryan
Yes these work perfectly for that. You’d mount around the ceiling tho not on the actual roof. Also with this kit goove provides 5 corner mounts that can be screwed in the walls or mounted with adhesive that’s on that which will keep it attached to the ceiling well. I showed them in the video.
They both work the same way. The dream color is cool but when I got the WiFi the dream color was only Bluetooth so you have to choose what’s more important multiple colors or WiFi enabled. If you have smart Assisant (Alexa or google home) and have other smart devices then get the WiFi if you don’t care about telling Alexa or google to turn them on or change colors then get the WiFi. Which feature is more important? Go with that
Is there any protection at all over the copper and any of the circuitry? Not really concerned about the waterproof but basically what prevents arcing? Or shorting out if any piece of metal comes into contact with any part of the strip?
Nope no protection on the copper areas. But it’s solidly put together and you shouldn’t have any problems. You will only run into problems if you begin to bend the strip when setup or if you’re using a monitor arm and you place it tight against the strip…. Some portions can come discounted causing the strip to not produce colors like Red Green or blue. All and all it’s held up well for me. Keep in mind this is a budget strip…so don’t expect the BEST quality but price vs what you get it’s definitely worth it in my opinion.
@@WilliamNevius Thanks. The cabinets I have are basically Ikea Detolf-like. The 4 supports are metal rods and I am just concerned if I miss that one special spot where the extra adhesive tape i put on and if that led strip buckles the slightest bit and makes contact with the metal pole of the cabinet. God knows what would happen. Might just have to try last year's dreamcolor govee.......thats all I'm finding with silicone on it and bluetooth. I need about 25-30 sets of them so these non-covered ones are so much cheaper but i think I'm too scared......if that makes any sense:-)
Ahah yea makes perfect sense. I’ve only used on wood tho so not sure if it’s shock proof. As far as corners the so provide those corner clips so just need to loop and stick the extra corner. But I honestly think you’ll be good either way. Good luck with your project tho. Hope it all works out. Plus the dream color will give you a variety of color if that’s something you want.
Yes as I showed in the unboxing in the video you have 3 ways to control the lights a remote, a controller on the unit and also the app. Everything is included that you need to get this going! Hope this helps
Like multi colors chasing at once..that is rgbic the IC stands for independent control of segments of the strip. Normal rgb can have multi color effects but not at once. More like changing colors of scene modes.

I mentioned warm white accuracy most LEDs will do tho due to the Red and Green colors it takes to make yellow....But for it price of like 20 bucks and still have wifi capabilities aint bad at all !
any 4 pin connectors will work since all it is is copper like this one: amzn.to/34gKwzA Just keep in mind that if you have a 16 foot strip you can't buy 16 additional feet and connect it on due to power. They make the power brick power for the original size of LED strip so adding more will not work but if you want to make a cut in the strip and extend it you should be good to go!
No. Those are called govee immersive led TV light strips. They cost triple the price. I should be getting some of those in soon so subscribe if interested

No still work great but when you install make sure you don’t bend the led parts around corners and should last. These are entry level so don’t except super high quality. But they’re still running fine

The expensive option in this video I put side by side was a LIFX LED light strip. It costs 89 vs goove which is 25. Basically the expensive has more brightness. Better accurate whites (warmer white and cooler white) the build quality is better too. Goove light strip is exposed vs LIFX has a rubber sealant. LIFX has more modes.. gimmicky tho. Works with google assistant and Alexa. To get to work with google assistant it’s the same process. Go to app store and look for APP name is "Govee Home" add skill login in and boom!! Change colors and control off and on with google assistant

Yea you can’t go wrong with LIFX z strips for a setup (bright, multiple colors at a tome and WiFi) I’d say go for the LIFX strips you can buy 1 meter extensions cables to jump between 2 strips if needed as well. The best bang for buck is getting it from bestbuy. You get 3 1 meter strips for 100 vs 2 1 meter strips for 90
Also going back to the govee bars. The main selling point is the sync function which you have to add the camera thing on top of your monitor. Haven’t tried them yet but I’m sure it’s like hue bars that I have...they can be spotty as well with the light. Hope that helps

This is the wifi enabled Alexa/Google home version. Funny thing is when I purchased these and even when I was doing the review I thought these were the RGBIC model which gives you multiple colors on a single strip. Thats why I thought it would be cool to compare with LIFX LED strip which can do multiple colors on one strip...even the box shows multiple colors on the strip so they fooled me lol. After some research, The RGBIC model is bluetooth known as the DREAM color LED strips and Govee does not make a RGBIC with wifi! I prefer the wifi due to smart home compatibilities but really wish you could have multiple colors on one strip! Basically, they are the same except app and themes etc..but the differences are what I stated above. Hope this helps Luis!

Govee has a few different types all are RGB Led light strips. Led is the type of light and RGB means it can change colors all colors (the full rainbow) Govee has Bluetooth led strips which CANT be controlled via google or amazon Assisant and WiFi versions that are controlled by google and amazon. The ones I have in the description are WiFi so it’ll work with your google Assisant. Just make sure it says WiFi also the product will display it in the product page on amazon

I used KRK Rokit 5 speakers amzn.to/3lIZc1R I’ve had these since like 2003 and they’re still holding up. They’re studio monitors and you’d need an audio interface to hook these up to your computer I use m audio 2x2 for my interface. I hope this helps Tony

You can use this strip Bluetooth only but will be limited to no voice commands with amazon and google Assistants. But if you want the full package then Yes, you will need 2.4ghz. But if your WiFi is a dual band and uses both 2.4 and 5ghz it will connector the right one no problem.

The copper points are contact pads if you ever want to re-attach the piece you cut. You can buy the connectors on Amazon for cheap.

Not on this strip. Govee makes 2 kind of LED strips. Wifi enabled (this can be connected to Alexa and google home)
And also the Dream color (this is bluetooth app controlled and has multiple colors on a single strip)
You can have wifi enabled and multiple colors on a single strip so you'd have to choose which is more import to you...I hope this makes sense lol let me know

That’s great to hear that this cleared things up. There is one strip that I have that actually does WiFi and multiple colors. It’s called the LIFX Z LED strip. It’s a bit more expensive than the goove led strip.

Yes in the govee app you can control all of your govee lights separately and all together. You can make scenes or even schedule times to turn on and off.

if you cut the leds can you use the bit that's cut off from the main strip somewhere else
Yes you can but will need to be mindful of the power supply. This strip is made to work with 16ft of LEDs so govee doesn’t recommend adding on to this strip.
Is there a way to control multiple stops cut off? Maybe by a connector 90° corner? I wanna have 1 strip under my table but another around a poster on the other side of my room but I dont really want the strip around the whole room....
You’re better off getting 2 strips. You can cut and extend but will require soldering.
So I have a question I bought some LED lights thinking that 32.8 feet would be enough for my room except, it didn’t go all the way around it only went around to three corners of my room. So what can I do about that?
Lol either buy an additional 16 foot or a 64 foot Led strip. Would have made it easier if you had measurements before hand. See if you can return it. I think It would be easier to get the longer version so it’s all one piece and easier to change modes and colors in the app.

Nope. These are the WiFi version. The ones that do multiple colors on a single strip are called the dream color. I have those linked in the description as well. Only difference is the WiFi can be controlled by Amazon Alexa and google home but he dream color are Bluetooth and can’t be controlled by smart assistant
Going to buy these but I keep reading reviews saying there is issues with connecting to alexa. Are people just moaning for the sake of it? Or is that the case. Looking to buy 4 sets of 20M.
I am still using this model in my garage which is far away from the router and it never loses WiFi. I command with Alexa to turn on the the Garage and all the lights turn on.
But you internet speeds could vary and distance from router..

How do fix the timer mode to give you more options my doesn’t work?
You only get 4 timers and sleep + wake up..sleep/wake will gradually increase the brightness over 15 minutes..
Make sure your app is up to date…just looked at mine and it’s still there so not sure what needs to be fixed. It’s in the app… you can also try to master rest the strip going to settings of the light and delete then re add it to the app. Hope this helps

Yes you can. As long as it’s a 4 pin led strip. You can reuses the cut pieces. You just can’t add additional feet to it due to the power consumption

Cut thru the copper is the correct way to do it for any LED strip. That’s how it’s made to connect all together. You’ll be good if you do it that way.

I just purchased these lights (32 ft) for $20 on Amazon. It’s the RGB Wi-Fi enabled one. I was going to use it behind my TV and along the wall. It’s a small corner of my home. Do you think this will do it justice or should I get the other strips mentioned in your video?
I think this strip is great if it’s your first or just getting started with LEDs can’t go wrong. For better options with multiple colors on the strip you may want to invest in a better quality led strip

Hi Max, If you cut the strip you can add 4 pin extensions to make a break in the strip. You only get one controller so all pieces of the strip will need to be connected in order for them to work properly. hope this helps

This one in this video is the RGB version and what you’re after is the RGBIC version. Govee makes rgbic in Bluetooth only and WiFi/Bluetooth. If your into smart home and have Amazon Alexa or google home get the WiFi version, if you do not have smarthome stuff just get the Bluetooth one. Rgb is solid colors only. Rgbic is the rainbow wave effect. Hope this helps

No you can cut all govee strips on the metal line with the scissors I showed in the video so you can get a custom size
i stuck these onto my walls without rubbing the alcohol over my walls first. will they peel off? please help.
Lol it should be fine. The alcohol is to remove dust and debris to make sure it sticks to the surface so it it felt grippy you should be fine.
If it falls you can always buy replacement sticky for the Led strip

Absolutely you can put it behind a TV. It’s pretty long so you can cut as well to fit to your tv size. If you have the budget I’d recommend getting the Govee immersion kit as long as you have a 55inch tv or bigger… I just made a video review about it here ruclips.net/video/BNhyGHtEgL8/видео.html if you’re interested. The price for this kit is a little more but worth it in my opinion.

Hi Daniel. I haven’t tried the minger brand led strip so I’m not sure what the experience would be like. But based from some research...govee Has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectability, plus the Govee app, you can control every aspect of these strip lights, even from the on board controller. You can connect goove to smart assistants like Alexa and google home. minger seems to not have those features... so if you don’t need the WiFi Bluetooth then minger may be a better option for you. You can but you’ll have to solder the cables. Also if you purchase a 16 foot strip you can’t add another 16 foot for a 32 foot due to the power brick. I’d recommend going with philips hue or LIFX because you can buy extensions and those can go more distance off of one power brick. You get that feature at a higher cost. But you can get creative with a budget strip and buy cable organizers to hide parts of the led strip you don’t want to be seen.

Yes these work perfectly for that. You’d mount around the ceiling tho not on the actual roof. Also with this kit goove provides 5 corner mounts that can be screwed in the walls or mounted with adhesive that’s on that which will keep it attached to the ceiling well. I showed them in the video.

They both work the same way. The dream color is cool but when I got the WiFi the dream color was only Bluetooth so you have to choose what’s more important multiple colors or WiFi enabled.
If you have smart Assisant (Alexa or google home) and have other smart devices then get the WiFi if you don’t care about telling Alexa or google to turn them on or change colors then get the WiFi. Which feature is more important? Go with that

Is there any protection at all over the copper and any of the circuitry? Not really concerned about the waterproof but basically what prevents arcing? Or shorting out if any piece of metal comes into contact with any part of the strip?
Nope no protection on the copper areas. But it’s solidly put together and you shouldn’t have any problems. You will only run into problems if you begin to bend the strip when setup or if you’re using a monitor arm and you place it tight against the strip…. Some portions can come discounted causing the strip to not produce colors like Red Green or blue. All and all it’s held up well for me. Keep in mind this is a budget strip…so don’t expect the BEST quality but price vs what you get it’s definitely worth it in my opinion.
@@WilliamNevius Thanks. The cabinets I have are basically Ikea Detolf-like. The 4 supports are metal rods and I am just concerned if I miss that one special spot where the extra adhesive tape i put on and if that led strip buckles the slightest bit and makes contact with the metal pole of the cabinet. God knows what would happen. Might just have to try last year's dreamcolor govee.......thats all I'm finding with silicone on it and bluetooth. I need about 25-30 sets of them so these non-covered ones are so much cheaper but i think I'm too scared......if that makes any sense:-)
Ahah yea makes perfect sense. I’ve only used on wood tho so not sure if it’s shock proof. As far as corners the so provide those corner clips so just need to loop and stick the extra corner. But I honestly think you’ll be good either way. Good luck with your project tho. Hope it all works out. Plus the dream color will give you a variety of color if that’s something you want.

Just keep in mind that if you have a 16 foot strip you can't buy 16 additional feet and connect it on due to power. They make the power brick power for the original size of LED strip so adding more will not work but if you want to make a cut in the strip and extend it you should be good to go!

what’s the expensive option, and the difference between them?
The expensive option in this video I put side by side was a LIFX LED light strip. It costs 89 vs goove which is 25. Basically the expensive has more brightness. Better accurate whites (warmer white and cooler white) the build quality is better too. Goove light strip is exposed vs LIFX has a rubber sealant. LIFX has more modes.. gimmicky tho.

That sounds like it’ll be a dope setup bro. Yea you can’t go wrong with LIFX z strips for a setup (bright, multiple colors at a tome and WiFi)
I’d say go for the LIFX strips
you can buy 1 meter extensions cables to jump between 2 strips if needed as well. The best bang for buck is getting it from bestbuy. You get 3 1 meter strips for 100 vs 2 1 meter strips for 90
Also going back to the govee bars. The main selling point is the sync function which you have to add the camera thing on top of your monitor. Haven’t tried them yet but I’m sure it’s like hue bars that I have...they can be spotty as well with the light.

This is the wifi enabled Alexa/Google home version. Funny thing is when I purchased these and even when I was doing the review I thought these were the RGBIC model which gives you multiple colors on a single strip. Thats why I thought it would be cool to compare with LIFX LED strip which can do multiple colors on one strip...even the box shows multiple colors on the strip so they fooled me lol. After some research, The RGBIC model is bluetooth known as the DREAM color LED strips and Govee does not make a RGBIC with wifi! I prefer the wifi due to smart home compatibilities but really wish you could have multiple colors on one strip! Basically, they are the same except app and themes etc..but the differences are what I stated above. Hope this helps Luis!

Govee has a few different types all are RGB Led light strips. Led is the type of light and RGB means it can change colors all colors (the full rainbow)
Govee has Bluetooth led strips which CANT be controlled via google or amazon Assisant and WiFi versions that are controlled by google and amazon. The ones I have in the description are WiFi so it’ll work with your google Assisant. Just make sure it says WiFi also the product will display it in the product page on amazon
Can I connect it to Xfinitywifi? I use a hot spot account but you have to log in when it pulls up a browser
@@jonnychhon1881 you can but using an xfinity hotspot account will probably cause dropouts. I used that configuration once as the experience was blahhh. Maybe the Bluetooth version of the strip would be a better fit for you?
what speakers you rockin there?
I used KRK Rokit 5 speakers amzn.to/3lIZc1R I’ve had these since like 2003 and they’re still holding up. They’re studio monitors and you’d need an audio interface to hook these up to your computer I use m audio 2x2 for my interface. I hope this helps Tony

Like I said these have last for yearsssssss lol actually was thinking of getting something different to match my new desk but idk really love the rokit 5s. They also have these in a gray and black which would be the ones. Pretty good setup just will run you about 400 usd for the full setup

Did you need 2.4ghz ?
You can use this strip Bluetooth only but will be limited to no voice commands with amazon and google Assistants.
But if you want the full package then Yes, you will need 2.4ghz. But if your WiFi is a dual band and uses both 2.4 and 5ghz it will connector the right one no problem.

@@edwinsosa3378 this strip only uses 2.4 ghz to connect to WiFi. If you connected it to tour WiFi and it’s working in govee app it will connect to Alexa no problems.
