it can be overnight. in this video I said i can leave it in and let it sit or wash it out etc... for filming video purposes i did not leave it in overnight so i can proceed to show the next steps and not waste time
Love how you let your hair be natural and be free without heat damage I now wear my hair naturally curly and I love it my hair is so much healthier and it's such low maintenance now love it thanks for the great video!
it differs for different hair textures. some hair requires less moisture and some requieres more so it all depends on how oily your hair can get and how you like your hair to be. I clarify with this routine because the no poo will add hydration not remove it so it depends on how dry my hair is overall
I had a lot of heat damage from a couple years of straightening, and I've recently gone natural for good ( no more heat styling ) and I just used the Aphogee Two-Step Protein treatment and it brought most of my curls back to life with just the first use! It got rid of about 86% of my heat damage
clarifying is a deep clean done once in a while not often. I do it once a month because I do not use shampoo unless im clarifying once a month. I co wash weekly or use deva Curl No Poo which is the opposite of ShamPOO. It cleans without the POO meaning no soap no suds no bubbles that dry out curls
yes you're right by all means do further research because you'll see why I use baking soda once a month ONLY to clarify because I do the curly girl method all month long which means I do not use shampoo at all all month until I clarify with baking soda. so you see... it balances out. You should do research as well before commenting on something you haven't looked into :)
There is this girl in my school who has so much hair with so much curls and I really want to treat them like this, her hair is so damaged, I've talked to her and she said she doesn't know how to style it and that its too much work to ever do anything to it. I really want to ask her over to my house or vice versa so I can help her 😂
I recommend to be patient and stop using heat. youll get there sooner if u enjoy the process of recovery and do not sit and wait for it or itll seem longer. get a trim and just give ur hair tlc youll get there. Its not going to happen over night so be patient and dedicated
Thanks :) coconut oil is the best oils so I wouldn't recommend anyone stop using because someone else doesnt like the smell so im assuming your leaving coconut oil in your hair for purposes other than deep conditioning. I love coconut scent its one of my favorite smells in this whole world I even have coconut candles so try not going to bed with it or getting it on ur pillow so the smell isnt bothering him. I dont leave it in my hair as a styler so ive never been told i have an unpleasant scent
I want to know how to have my hair look good in the morning. I have curly hair and before bed or hours before I have a shower and condition my hair etc. However, when I wake up the next morning its all messed up so I shake it around but it never looks as good as the day before, why is that. Do I need to moisturize every morning? Someone help!
I had the same problem, what I do is mix water and a tiny, tiny bit of my leave in, in a spray bottle and spray it in my hair. It nourishes and revives your hair quickly.
SunKissAlba Say what yall want--but ima man w/long hair, which is why I clicked on this vid in the 1st place. Im NOT a perv, buy GAAAAATDAAYUM!! Alba is FUCKIN GORGEOUS!! Didn't think I would make it thru the whole vid because of typical EXTRA'NESS of these type of vids, but I must say she was knowledgeable, seemingly down to earth, and articulate---and did say she was FINE as a MF!! LOL, I just subbed and thumbed it up. Please God of heaven and Earth, make my wife as fine Alba OR more fine--IF thatz possible!! Pray 4 me yall* Peace+++
No u cannot sleep with egg in ur hair hun! it will damage ur hair to leave egg in it for more than 1 hr. its too much protein and can change texture of hair if u leave it on too long or do it too often. which is why I say in description box below not to do it more than once every few months. its not needed to be done often
Wow, this is crazy. I remember watching your first damage video in 2012 when you first posted it, and in 2013 i watched this video, and I started my hair journey. I've learned to love my hair and it's been able to grow and become healthy! You were my inspiration and I will never forget that and cannot thank you enough! Ilysm Alba!! ❤️
its in description box and I annotated in the video too. yes i wash my hair again but not 2 times in 1 day. I do 1 or the other not both masque. I was only showing 2 options for video purposes
not when its done in my perspective which is with the curly girl method meaning I do not use shampoo ever unless im clarifying so I replace shampoo with baking soda ONCE a month to clarify. Im not new to baking soda Ive been using it since 2010 and do not use it as a daily cleanser Only once a month to clarify my scalp.
well I scalp massage and finger detangle once a week before each cleanse but I dont do a protein masque that often I only do it when needed. I do the Anti breakage masque much more often then protein masque. too much protein can be bad because it can change your texture when done too often so Id say if u want something weekly do a hot oil treatment weekly or anti breakage masque by shea moisture not proetin
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! When I was younger I had beautiful tight 3c curls, and really my hair was treated fairly nice, but for some years now my hair has been really looks like 3b/3a hair, I haven't really used heat on my hair, but I also haven't been taking good care of it, which is something I understand, but what I wanna know is why my curls are so loose now, I did the big chop but I haven't seen much of a diffrence, and like I said I don't use heat much, maybe 1x or 2x a year p.s. I recently did a chemical treatment, but like I said this has been happening for years .. Help??
The only way to get perm out of your hair is to cut it off. They is no product or anything on the market for that. Our hair texture changes over time. So no ones hair is exactly like when they were a child. You could be over washing. Make sure to use sulfate free shampoos and leave the conditioner on your hair until you are finished washing up and doing everything else in the shower. Follow up with a deep conditioning treatment after every wash. I wash my hair once a week. I have 3c/4a low density high porosity hair with normal scalp and dry natural hair. Use a heat cap or sit under a hair dryer when deep conditioning. Heat penetrates the hair allowing the deep conditioner to really work its magic. Rinse then always follow up with leave in conditioner. Then product to moisturize. Then oil to seal in moisture. Style and Let air dry half way then diffuse or let air dry complete. Also known as a wash and go. You may need to add a pre poo treatment before every wash. Protein treatment every two weeks or as needed. Research is key!! Mo knows hair is wonderful to follow and I hope this helps!
Hair changes. Especially after puberty. My hair got curlier urs probably just got looser. My advice is: dont think about types of curls. Enjoy ur hair as it is now. There r so many benefits to looser curls and lm sure ur hair is beautiful
have u seen how i recovered from my damage in older videos? I cut off my straight pieces and never straightened my hair again and just deep conditioned monthly and also did masque like in this video and kept trimming my damaged straight pieces as it grows. be patient thats all. hair generally grows 1inch to 1-1/2 inch every 2 months! it took me over 6 months to see my natural roots texture so healthy and different from the rest of my hair
I had the same as u can see in my 2011 videos. You can improve some parts but the entirely straight pieces have to be cut off like I did in 2011 and do masque and stop using heat and your hair will love you back
No disrespect Bumble bee--but this is why little black girls don't know how to comb/care for their hair...inherent laziness. C'mon, the treatment is ONCE a month yo! Is it too much to give YOU/YOUR hair 2.5-3hrs of detailed love and attention--once a month?? If it is, I thoroughly understand--keep doin what you do. Sad that black women don't own even 1 percent of the beauty supply stores in our communities. Koreans and other Asian INVESTORS got that shit on lock! They profit off of our ignorance and lack of self love...sad ;( Peace family*
I think that has to do with how ur applying ur products and smoothing it down while applying from root to tip like I do in my new curly hair routine. I also dont touch my hair until its dry and dont manipulate it until its 100% dry before I fluff and add volume
it was waist length and I cut it 4 inches, then 2 inches then layers gradually not right away until all the damage was gone. I left it above boob length in aug 2012 and now its right below boob length. I no longer have to gradually trim or often trim since all the damage is gone I only trim the hair on the front when it gets to long.
I havent colored my hair over 2 years so the reddish tones you see are fading and growing out still. the the top part is my natural color the ends are old color thats still growing out
Oh my goodness thank you!!! I have just a little bit of heat damage left from when I cut it, and the damaged parts that were left were so dry and frizzy and completely unmanageable. I just did this an hour ago and omg. When washing it out my hair was already noticeably silkier and shinier, and felt thicker/stronger. When styling it the parts that usually just frizzed up and stayed straight actually not only curled a little, but RESPONDED to the products! My hair looks amazing and much healthier. I could cry. I am DEFINITELY doing this each month on top of my deep conditionings! I feel like I'm advocating for a commercial item, but this is just something you can do at home. I won't say it will work the same for everyone, but I have a 3b/3c and my hair looks amazing already!
when done once a month like me being on the curly girl method it works out perfectly and balances out. I dont use shampoo all month only cleansing cream and conditioner to cleanse so Im never at a loss of moisture and once a month I clarify with baking soda. Ive been doing it for years over 2 years to be exact so it all about the routine. its definitely bad if u use to too often by i use it to balance out. so because 1 person proves why they dont like it doesnt mean its bad for everyone.
yes I am dominican. Dominicans are generally mixed with indian, spaniard and african so my granparents had naturally straight hair but my dad has very course afro hair and my mom has loose curls so thats where my texture comes from
This was one of the first videos I watched about heat damage and how to get back my healthy curls. This was over a year ago I used to be ashamed of my hair and although it didnt happen overnight I sticked with my healthy regime and now Im Proud to say I recoverd from my heat damage and I fell back in love with my hair. Thank u Alba for all the tips.
I used to be so obsessed with dying my hair super blonde and then like you can already figure it absolutely quit on life and stopped curling! 4 1/2 inches of the ends were just straight and curls. I chopped my hair and it devastated me. Then my cousin told me about your channel! DON'T EVER STOP WHAT YOU DO!!! It has been such a help to watch you thank you and keep doing your thing and sharing it with us I can't get enough! Thank you!
I dyed my hair 1 last time black only to go back to my natural color and ive never dyed it again since 2011 I still have some red dye that seeps through the bottom half of my hair but I dont mind it cuz it looks nice in the light and kinda looks like the ombre affect so its all good :)
7 months isnt much at all especially after a perm. took me 6 months to see my 2inch new growth growing out without ever having a perm. It will not happen over night Patience & Dedication is worth it. Think realistically... do u really expect ur hair to just go back to curly after 7 months? it has to grow out and u have to gradually start cutting the damage off as it grows. hair grows approximately 1inch to 1-1/2 inch every 2 months. Enjoy the journey, if u dont it'll only seem longer.
I have in older videos but I havent in about 2 years or so (The damage of doing it once isnt worth) I dont desire to see it straight anymore I love my curls so much :)
Theres no accurate measurement for any of the 2 masque I show. we all requiere a different amount. some people need more some people need less. I go by how saturated my hair is with the masque. each and every strand of hair should be covered from root to tip. In the description box i wrote: 1 egg and spoon on coconut oil. you can add more coconut oil or less theres no rule. for the shea moisture masque just apply it like conditioner and wrap
Absolutely Love Your videos. I have checked several other channels, and all are good too, but you are the closest to where I want to get with my hair, skin and nutrition. Getting more into organics as well. Please do not stop making videos, you have become a big inspiration for me. I know you will make it to where you want with your own organics line. Best of wishes always!
I have a cut shaped around my face frame long layers so I maintain long length with short layers around the crown area for volume on top so my hair is short on top long true to length on bottom
Devachan salon is a salon specialized for natural curly hair so they only style curly hair no straightening. That's where i got my first curly cut in 2011 :) i absolutely loved it
I want to take the time to thank you for creating this video blog! You have the best curly hair tutorials and I'm so happy to see someone that looks like me on here and am looking forward to using these products and see my hair get healthy! THANK YOU!
I restyle by adding water to dampen, I air dry only and sleep on satin pillow case thats all. about my teeth I only use baking soda on my tooth paste to brush and drink coffee and tea through a straw thats it
only the protein treatment cant be done more than once every few months I placed info in description box it can hurt ur hair to apply to much protein to it its not needed frequently
Thank you for this tutorial. I love your "No Comb" detangling technique. I tried this before washing and deep conditioning my hair and I love the results. I also used the "No Comb" detangle technique in the shower and was really impressed with the results. No more combs for me.
This was one of my favorite video that made me follow in love with you channel. I still go back to it even tho so many years has passed. Years has passed and you have become a better version of yourself!! It is so noticeable! I wish the best for you and your beautiful family! 😘🌺
its not recommended to apply that much protein often its suggested to be applied no more than once every 6 months! if u dont use heat often or no heat like me you will most likely not even need to apply egg in ur hair often anyway
look like what? thick curl chunks? its just my finger detangle process detangle and twirl just to get the sections out the way to move on to the next before washing
Keep the videos coming. I am 100% puerto rican with naturally curly hair. Your no shampoo, no heat, and twirling method has done wonders for my hair. It has never looked better!!!!! Thank you for the tips......
Alba, your hair looks great! You were so right about patience and following the techniques you provide in your 2 recent hair videos on deep conditioning and daily routine/twirling hair. I've been following them to the T and my hair never looked better. Much healthier, stronger and fuller. Didn't know my hair was this curly. Thank you!
Hey Alba just wanted to say you are so inspirational! Curls, skin, makeup, relationships you totally slay! You're one of the reasons I started my own channel. Be blessed always
Lately my hair has been dry and doesn't curl up nicely like it used to. I tried the egg treatment and my curls were bouncy and amazing . I swear the whole day people kept touching my hair because it looked really good. Thank you for putting this up . i look forward for more :)
Hey Alba, I think leaving the egg for longer periods depends on the type of hair and its needs. I have left it overnight (unintentionally) and have had great results, my hair is fine and if not cared for properly can get brittle and extremely dry. Ive used the yolk when is in this state, left it for longer than an hour (or overnight) and works great. I mix it with coconut milk, avocado and other stuff. Coconut oil also works wonders for dry hair. Me fascina ver a dominicanas como tu. Keep it up!
Thank you for your videos. I'm a 44 year old American Indian women. I have super natural curly hair. Up unto last year I had bar length hair. I stopped coloring and straightening over a year ago. I did had to cut it boob length after seeing the damage I'd done from processing it. I plan on flowing your methods, and I hope it will help my hair restore itself. I still have damaged ends, but I will allow it to grow out more, before cutting it again. Your awesome for sharing and thank you.
once or twice a week it varies on styles ive done or want to do. I speak on this in my wash n go video uploaded after this one. Link is in description box
as you can see with my hair results... YES! totally worth the process lol its not a long process when ur enjoying the health recovery of ur hair. I cut my damage off so that I wouldnt have to see it and can style my hair and enjoy my hair getting longer and caring for it etc... getting healthy hair is never not worth it. ask ur self, Do u think its worth not seeing any health continuing to damage ur hair with heat and wondering if it will ever get better?
I think you have become one of my new favorites!!! You are gorgeous and I love any tips that I can get on my curly hair. My hair has always been natural but lately it has lost its curl and moisture. Before I watched this video I purchased some of these conditioning items and now I am excited about starting the no heat journey for the next few months. Thank you again for helping out the girls with the curly hair. Its not as manageable as some people think... lol
All my front portion of my hair is transitioning to coil curls the back is half flat and half wavy how do I get the back to curl up coils??? @sunkissalba
ever since i was 10 it was my dream but I have way too many flaws for that. I'm 5'7 which is kinda short compared to those girls and Im over the weight requirements and body structure :/
i love how different you are! physically and just the way you speak and act :)
it can be overnight. in this video I said i can leave it in and let it sit or wash it out etc... for filming video purposes i did not leave it in overnight so i can proceed to show the next steps and not waste time

okay maybe not 86% in the first use, but it helps soooo much
Jordan Nolan I really want to use that but I've heard people say it damages and breaks your hair, is this true?
Jordan Nolan I have the same situation as you I've been straightening my hair 8 years and my curls are gone :(
Anesthetic Ethan only if you do it too much
Jordan Nolan how often did you do the treatment
sleeping on a satin pillow case helps, also air drying helps and dont use cotton towels only microfiber or t-shirt. it will prevent frizz and tangles
This made my hair so soft and healthy looking. I feel a lot more confident with my natural curly hair 😍 lol it even made my skin soft. LOVE IT
clarifying is a deep clean done once in a while not often. I do it once a month because I do not use shampoo unless im clarifying once a month. I co wash weekly or use deva Curl No Poo which is the opposite of ShamPOO. It cleans without the POO meaning no soap no suds no bubbles that dry out curls
I can watch her videos over and over again. I luv to do my hair while damage videos are playing. It's fun.

I had the same problem, what I do is mix water and a tiny, tiny bit of my leave in, in a spray bottle and spray it in my hair. It nourishes and revives your hair quickly.
Thanks a lot
Watch my video on how I restyle my curly hair the next day. and it also includes my sleep method :)
Thank you so much

do you ever leave the coconut oil in your hair? I'm wondering if it's ok to style with coconut oil
This may be too late of a reply but it's perfectly fine to leave coconut oil in your hair as it's a very good natural moisturiser
not when its done in my perspective which is with the curly girl method meaning I do not use shampoo ever unless im clarifying so I replace shampoo with baking soda ONCE a month to clarify. Im not new to baking soda Ive been using it since 2010 and do not use it as a daily cleanser Only once a month to clarify my scalp.
After the egg treatment ... Do you wash with shampo and is it better with cold or hot water ??
Pamely De Jesus me tooo she is beautiful
Cold or room temp, hot water could cook the eggs
no just one. i was just showing 2 options for 2 purposes. check description box all info is there
What do u mean by "clarify your hair"? No shampoo?
Do you air dry?
Lely clarify means getting rid of the build up of course she shampoos
no that was only for video purposes and editing tricks :) I placed all the info in description box :) check it out everything is there
can you like take care of my hair and return it when is healthy? lol I suck at taking care of it 0_0
when it's*
right lol

Well said, at the end of the day, black people don't even like to support their own people.

clarify means to deep clean with a shampoo or dr bronners to remove all oil and build up starting from beginning process before my reg styling
once its a habit it becomes a staple and theres no other way for you. it becomes easy to do because it flys by once its part of your routine.
I havent colored my hair over 2 years so the reddish tones you see are fading and growing out still. the the top part is my natural color the ends are old color thats still growing out

yes it works for all hair types but especially curly hair cuz it needs the hydration most
Hey Alba! I'm very happy with your success!! Going through heat damage recovery as well! Thanks for the tips!
I have in older videos but I havent in about 2 years or so (The damage of doing it once isnt worth) I dont desire to see it straight anymore I love my curls so much :)
whatver works best for you. I like to do it on clean hair because the nutrition is most absorbed on clean wet hair
That's where i got my first curly cut in 2011 :) i absolutely loved it
yes wash condition and style as usual. I placed all the info in description box :) check it out everything is there
i start off the video on uncleaned hair, massage, finger detangle, then cleanse. Check description box always because its all there :)
Do you think If i'm going to start this monthy routine to get my natural curls back I shuld stop putting heat in my hair? flat iron, blowdryer etc?
No more combs for me.
check the description box there's a list of places to buy coconut oil and everything else in the video
This was one of my favorite video that made me follow in love with you channel. I still go back to it even tho so many years has passed. Years has passed and you have become a better version of yourself!! It is so noticeable! I wish the best for you and your beautiful family! 😘🌺
its not recommended to apply that much protein often its suggested to be applied no more than once every 6 months! if u dont use heat often or no heat like me you will most likely not even need to apply egg in ur hair often anyway
look like what? thick curl chunks? its just my finger detangle process detangle and twirl just to get the sections out the way to move on to the next before washing
no not the same day just 1 or the other. I just showed 2 options for 2 purposes
Thank you!
for me it didnt really get hard within 1 hour since it was heated up under plastic bag but if u dont use a plastic bag and no oil it gets hard easily
Hey Alba just wanted to say you are so inspirational! Curls, skin, makeup, relationships you totally slay! You're one of the reasons I started my own channel. Be blessed always
i just apply it to the scalp in shower rub in until runs smooth and clean i repeat like twice that it. Thank You btw!
Yes I placed some replacement oils in description box
devachan salon its specialized for natural hair styling no straightening
Keep it up!
Yes its always in the description box of the video
Alba I haven't even gotten to the deep condition yet and my hair already looks phenomenal. You rock.
Link is in description box
by doing exactly what in this video. No heat, just TLC and PATIENCE. my hair did not recover over night if u look back at my videos
as you can see with my hair results... YES! totally worth the process lol its not a long process when ur enjoying the health recovery of ur hair.
Thank You! I placed all the info in description box :) check it out everything is there
yes I placed all that in description box

I think you have become one of my new favorites!!! You are gorgeous and I love any tips that I can get on my curly hair. My hair has always been natural but lately it has lost its curl and moisture. Before I watched this video I purchased some of these conditioning items and now I am excited about starting the no heat journey for the next few months. Thank you again for helping out the girls with the curly hair. Its not as manageable as some people think... lol
Thanks yes! I placed all that info in description box
All my front portion of my hair is transitioning to coil curls the back is half flat and half wavy how do I get the back to curl up coils??? @sunkissalba
