Love the smaller stuff I find it easier to find things to crawl
Love the small scale! Starting in 1/24 plastic models years ago, these are a perfect fit. This make the Mini-Z much more appealing now as compared to Axial. Up to 13 SCX24s… so yes, I’m an addict. These may be next…
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
The classy background music is well suited to the Kyosho Mini-Z
I concur. 👍
I fell in love with the mini crawlers. After watching this the mini z will be my next purchase. Once again thank you for all the great content.
Thanks for watching and have fun with the new rig when you get it!
The mini and micro stuff is great. A bit cheaper, and cheaper upgrades, and you can use them almost anywhere. And easier to find hard bodies for them, like model kit bodies for 1:24 and smaller trucks.
If you want to go mini, and capable, and with some quality upgrades you should try out the Orlandoo Hunter Model trucks. Fun builds, if a bit frustrating at times, and pretty capable even in stock form. And they make some really nice quality upgrades for them too, to really bling them up and get them to perform even better. :)

I've been into mini-z for over a decade now so my mind changed instantly from the scx24 to the mx01 when they released it. I agree more tires options wouldn't hurt. I do find the 1.0 inch to be too big for my liking though so my choice would probably be the new 0.7 from rc4wd. Kyosho has expensive oil shocks but I think yeah racing has now an option too that is a bit cheaper. Hot racing has one set too.
Eagle Racing has a set. They are a game changer for that little truck.
Yep, we love the furitek stuff and the mini crawlers.
Carisma make really small oil shocks for their small scale trucks. I got some that work really good on my 1/18 RC4WD D90.
My RC adventure started with Mini-Zs years ago, my Jimny is sweet. I am glad they finally did a crawler.
Chuffed here, I just ordered the chassis and servo. Thanks 😊
Finally some more parts for the mini-z. But I had a heart attack when seeing some of those prices 😅
Love this little rig! I found some hot racing oil filled shocks. This little guy is what got me hooked on the hobby! Thanks for your videos! You always have the best content!
Thanks for watching! These little rigs are great!
Thanks for commenting on my last comment, you're putting out the good stuff. I am 100% an scx24 kind of person, and charming is definitely the way to describe the small/mini/micro scale rc. Basher, crawler or otherwise. Keep up the good stuff.
Thanks for commenting on my comment on your comment 😂. I definitely see the appeal of the mini rigs, so portable. A lot of fans of 1/24 are sharing how they use them and it’s made me appreciate them even more.
I’m really liking the Miniz just because it’s a little smaller and seems like 1/24 model kit bodies would fit on it a lot better. I’m going to need to look deeper in this one
Looks great! Good shocks seems to be the missing holy grail of small scale crawlers. I went on a quest for my scx24 and I still haven't found any. I've been racing mini z on road for years and I love the scale detail of the bodies, they look so good and the National race series we run features tracks that fit in my garage. I love 1/10 scale, but I would never use it if I had to plan and drive to a track. The minis get a lot more use, I can just crawl on my messy desk as a work break.
I have both Mini z and SCX24, they both are great. Good show.
I love my Mini Z 4x4 Suzuki Jimny, now for more upgrades....
Just a shout out for your "Fix It" toolkit! I love mine, and you have the means to get into most electronics! I like Furitek, but all the shipping problems lately make availability a major hassle
I have 5 SCX24’s and Mini Z RWD car. I do have a few bigger vehicles as well. The smaller scale crawlers are so much fun.
And very portable!
@@scalebuildersguild i need to get a duffel bag to carry mine. I think my next project might be 24 comp truck.
Yep. Love the smaller rigs and the challenges that come with them. But, you haven't lived until you've built and modded an Orlandoo.
Matt - thanks for reviewing upgrades for this model.
You mentioned you might be interested in upgrading the shocks... I grabbed a set of Eagle Racing SP shocks for the mini-z from eBay and I could not be happier with them. 1000% better than the stock setup.
Thanks!
@@scalebuildersguild U're quite welcome. Try not to melt out there today...
I think you will find the graphene 950 2s battery will fit well.
Cheers!
Hey Matt that thing is cool
I've been waiting to see if there would be some aftermarket support for kyosho before I got one. Now its just a matter of when
I have one of each now. Lol very fun to tinker with.
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Kyosho does make red metal shocks for this car. Kyosho also makes a front metal axle too. Thoughts?
Looks like a solid upgrade!
Some mini desert lizards would be good
Just got the chassis and servo today and ill be shocked if this servo moves by brass upgrades and injora 1'0 wheels and tyres, I guess I'll find out soon.
Are you not chuffed!? Great review
I have the 4Runner and it’s great :).
Love the shirt!!
Cool like my little ftx defender cool
Minutes are very good😆🎶👍
Slap some mini hyrax on your car!
I love my mini z, but mine has nothing to do with yours! It's a RWD GT-R drifter 😉
So many hop ups and so much tuning possibilities, but like you said you can end up spending quite a good amount of money on those tiny things. I have the rear train tuned, offset wheels on point, LF 3 tires, now working on the steering, though this will probably be the cheapest by just changing and tuning the springs. Last chunk will probably be changing the esc and receiver, and a mini Rx for my gt5 only sells for 7 bucks so that's good.
I'll stick with my scx 24 for the mini crawler. ! But will surely end up finishing it with a esc motor and Rx swap. Also for practicality and to rule them all with just one transmitter
They are cool. But don't run smaller than 1:10 scale due to climbability.
Well thats super cool. I love the 4 runner mini they did. I just dont own one haha.
I like the small ones... but being on the Blind side of things.... the small stuff is not easy to work on.
This looks great.
Very cool to see how everything is coming along in the little truck world.
Definitely not easy to work on things so small if you're visually impaired, but they sure a lot of fun! Thanks for watching!
Can you do all the furitek upgrades on the miniz but keep the AAA batteries?
Nope, you need the steady voltage of a LiPo, and there's no place for the giant battery housing after the conversion.
I think I need to get another 1:24 truck.
Os that the micro komodo in that case?
Yep!
Like button engaged.
I want a scx 24 Fusion!
Never to tall for a mall crawle🥴 great video👌🏼😃
Would I run a Furitek chassis and brushless setup? Sure, if they'd like to send me one to run and review for my channel! All added together, you could push a single Mini-Z up over $1k by installing all the available options. I love their appeal, yes. But, man, a person can invest so much money in this hobby.
Gearing down with the included kit gets some pretty amazing performance with the Z right out of the box. But, yes, I am intrigued. Just how much is my wallet intrigued. I added everything up at Furitek and it's close to $400 in parts. Plus the $200 for the already awesome Z ... sheesh. We're deep in 1/10 scale territory on those costs!
This hobby is definitely not cheap! Thanks for watching!
Very nice, what batteries and transmitter work with this set up? Thinking about doing the same
I had to use another new receiver, so I’m running a Spektrum system. As for batteries, any 2S LiPo would work!
Would you know if the furitek avatar transmitter and receiver work with this set up?
Sorry, that's a question for Furitek!
Nice shirt!
Looks sweet. I just installed some 3D printed parts to replace the stock electronics trays and the servo from my SCX24, otherwise I would get that chassis. I am getting the electronics, it looks like a nice system. Does it come with the same plug as the SCX24 batteries?
It does indeed!
Having that change the receiver and transmitter is a major bummer. I wish there was another way to upgrade to brushless without that extra expense. Do you have any suggestions for other motor upgrades that don't require the transmitter upgrade?
Also did you manage to put oil-filled shocks onto it?
Scx24 is where it’s at. Axial puts out a good mini RC out of the box and aftermarket allows customization to the extreme. I’m amazed at what mine can do, I’ve turned it into a functionally and aesthetically amazing super machine to the point I’m not interested in anything else.
Cool! Glad you love it!
I wonder if any of there stuff would work in my rc4wd gelande ll bronco.
Not likely, sorry!
This looks awesome. Did you follow up on the oil shocks?
I haven't, no! I should though.
@@scalebuildersguild I would love to see how that would transform the car. Because other than that it is so close to perfect.
since its an electric, shouldnt it have those blue accents? :P
😂
Can I pair stock transmitter with the furitek setup?
No, you need a separate receiver.
What battery are you using that fits in the battery tray?
I'm temporarily using SCX24 batteries, but shopping for something smaller. Thanks for watching!
Wow,,,very like this,,,👍
Just ordered mine how long does it take to receive in the mail
That all depends on where you are, and where you ordered from! Shouldn’t be too long though, enjoy!
I ordered from the link u put they are in Singapore why is there a furitekusa
I feel the entry price is obscene so I'll be scooping up one of the clones that just came out for less than half the price.
Fair enough. Thanks for watching!
Hmm Mat, honestly, how much do you USE those mini´s? I just dont get it and thinking, because you can make it, do you need it? The 1/10 ish´ scale is easier to handle, make stuff for, scale-stuff and more. I just dont get it! -She said too ;-)
Hi! A lot of people like the minis because you can carry them around so easily. Take a couple out in a backpack and have some fun on a hike. They're also great in the winter, because when there's too much snow outside, you can build a little course and have fun indoors. I've also suggested them to anyone that has mobility issues that wants to get into the hobby. I'm mostly a 1/10 scale user, but totally get the appeal for the little guys. Thanks for watching!
@@scalebuildersguild Yes, i know, just curious about your thoughts and yes, fine supplement ;-)
Do i have to buy their radio System to use it?
Yes, ESC and receiver are one unit. Thanks for watching!
@@scalebuildersguild i dont like that but thx and great vid!
Hey there, do you know if its possible to run the Furitek motor on the stock ESC?
No, it’s a brushed ESC.
@@scalebuildersguild I see, thank you for the response!😃
Cool
I’d be fine upgrading everything except I’d really like to keep the aaa batteries. I just don’t use it often enough or want to have to manage a lipo. Anyone know if it’s possible to upgrade esc, servo, motor, but keep batteries?
You’d be better off switching to a mini LiPo.
@@scalebuildersguild I’m doing a full furitek lizard conversion but with an emax servo and keeping aaa either li-ion or nimh.
In my opinion the jeep is way to high. With lower suspension it would Look awesome
I agree
👍👍
I only have 3 scx24's lol
Only??? 😂
@@scalebuildersguild for now 😉
$320 plus a radio and battery for this setup. Whew, we're talking 1/10 money for 1/24 scale.
Not a cheap setup, that's true! Thanks for watching!
German engineering is the best in the world!!! (fuhrer-tek)
😬
Definitely needs bigger wheels, definitely. Wapner, five minutes, definitely.
😂
"bummer if you're doing this on a budget". Budget and furitek don't really go together though. 😂
You are right! Thanks for watching!
Hard pass
Oh the remnant’s of poor life decisions scattered all over your arms. Hey Pinkman! Cook much?
Poor life decisions? Been with my wife for 21 years, have a great job, house and car. I've never done hard drugs and have never gotten more than a speeding ticket. Love every single one of my tattoos and never had any negative comments about them until now. It's none of my business how you feel about my personal appearance, so next time you feel like trolling a guy that is just having fun with a hobby, keep your opinions to yourself. Thanks for watching!

Looking for my first RC car looking at either the FMS lc80 or maybe a mini Z 4Runner. This looks cool though! Can’t decide haha
