Серия головок звукоснимателя ГЗМ-х05, выпускалась Рижским электромеханическим заводом ПО "Радиотехника" и была весьма популярна среди советских любителей грамзаписи. Они ставились в такие проигрыватели как Эстония-008, Radiotehnika ЭП-101, Электроника 017 и электропроигрывающие устройства 0-ЭПУ-82С, 0-ЭПУ-82К
Изначально еще старому ГОСТу начали производить две головки звукоснимателя - ГЗМ-005 и ГЗМ-105.
Отличались они качеством изготовления (то что не проходило по параметрам высшего класса ГЗМ-005 - маркировали как первый ГЗМ-105). Для сортировки по классам измерялись такие параметры как неравномерность частотного диапазона и разделение между каналами. Сам диапазон частот - давался исходя из допусков по классу - на деле у обоих классов он одинаков. То есть, "тушки" немного отличались, а сменные вставки были совершенно одинаковы. Хотя по некоторым данным отбраковка велась и по сменным вставкам, лучшие использовались на ГЗМ-005, а похуже на ГЗМ-105. С появлением нового поколения вертушек (таких, как Мелодия-105В) возникла необходимость использования специального держателя для установки в тонарм, так в наименовании появилась буква Д. Д это тип крепления. (пластмассовый быстросъёмный разъём) для установки на 2ЭПУ-65СМ и 1ЭПУ-73С. На 0ЭПУ-82С и 0ЭПУ-82К головки крепились винтами без пластикового разъёма.Для проигрывателей II-го класса применялась совсем другая голова ГЗКУ-631Р (корунд) или ГЗКУ-631РА (алмаз).
При введении нового ГОСТа - требования по "нулевому" классу стали несколько выше, и некоторые (ранее выпускаемые) головы по своим характеристикам перешли на ступень вниз. Например ГЗМ-005 автоматически стала ГЗМ-105, а ГЗМ-105 - ГЗМ-205. То есть головка ГЗМ-005 (старая)=ГЗМ-105 (новая). ГЗМ-105 (старая)=ГЗМ-205 (новая).
С самого начала и до окончания выпуска головок серии ГЗМ-x05 (а так же их модификаций), во всех вставках применялась сферическая алмазная игла А18/0.8 с радиусом 0.018 мкм и длиной 0.8 мкм (ГОСТ 7765-70). По имеющимся в интернете данным, в отличие от серии ГЗМ-х55 с импортными алмазными кончиками, в серии ГЗМ-x05 использовались иглы (сами камни) магаданской артели обработки технических алмазов, они поставляли иглы, а в бериллиевый кантилевер их вставляли уже на заводе.

This was interesting. An argument can be made for conical styli when working with often played records, I think that is one reason the lower end Audio Technica sound so good.
Great video👍👍👍. Couldn't find any appreciable difference excepting that the Russian one appeared to be a more detailed with some airy treble.
Would like to see a video as to how you connected the resistance and capacitance with the BUM cartridge.
Probably the best comparison I've seen. There's very little variance between the ATs and the r3m was way too colored.

ГЗМ-205Д is a conical needle cartridge. I don't know these models with other design. For some records too bright and more distortion at higher frequencies. At95e is more flat and honest. At3600l from some sources needs 3 grams set, 1 to 1.5 is too low for it, when cantilever is black ( carbon).
just close your eyes and listen, and check later which cart opens up the soundstage..its the GZM.
Wow, great video, thanks! Definitely having to fiddle with the cantilever mount is a great red flag, just as having to improvise filters. The BUM M1 is definitely the worst needing an RC filter, followed by the 3M-205 which looks like you had to add capacitors as well. I personally own both of the Audio Technica cartridges and yes, the best is the AT-95E, but followed very closely by the AT-3600 and at a lower price. Keep up the good work, happy holidays!
The GZM cartridge sounded too bright. AT-95-E just slightly brighter than AT-3600-L. The most notable difference between the two Audio Technica is the price. The AT-3600-L. produces the same sound quality as the AT-95-E. for less money. However since this video was made Audio Technica has upgraded the 95E and renamed it the VM95E and has introduced the VM95C which has the same body with a conical stylus. It's hard to beat the AT3600-L which is still available at a very low price. The newer cartridges are considerably more expensive than the old version of the AT-95-E.
If you have the AT3600 then upgrade it with the LP Gear CFN3600LE, an elliptical tip on a carbon cantilver. It really improves the performance, even though the AT conical stylus sounds good already.

Actually differences are very noticeable. You need good pair of earphones to notice them. I use AKG K240. Thanks for watching!
seemed to me that the Soviet cart had a wide sound stage and a bit sharper.
I bought an bum m1 just to come in handy on my Technics sl 1300. Then I set to 2 grams like it’s say to set (same to antiskanting), but it was skipping a lot. Does this happened to you?

Yes it happened to me too. Cantilever was lopsided and that caused it.
Out of all of them , I would stay with the GZM205 (the Soviet one) as my main cartridge, less distortion sibilance better frequency response and better stereo image
The GZM 205 sounds amazing. It's in another class compared to the others. Do you know if it is available? Does this brand exists now....????

I took 2 Chinese models, it seems that the heads are all the same, just change the cover, BUM 1M AND STYLUS (ortofom copy) needs 12 hours of operation to start working, Stylus the more weight the more bass it produced with 3.2g, BUM 1 catilever was too deep Leaning against the magnet wall, I removed the rubber and adjusted it. the sound was pleasant
Excellent demo. I find the AT3600, AT91, Rega Carbon carts all a bit vague and pick up lots of surface noise. Stick an LA Gear elliptical in them.and they are way better.
The AT3600L carts are designed to have a VTF of 3.5 grams. I wouldn't run an elliptical at that tracking force!

I'm confused ........am I hearing that AT3600 sound the same as AT95E? But the price differ a lot?
They have very little difference. AT3600 has some high frequencies spiked up. AT95E has warmer sound and more linear frequency response compared to AT3600. Also AT95E lasts longer

In my case the BUM M1 has better treble quality, and very good bass, even good sub bass.
But...for some strange reason the BUM M1 captures the magnetic field of the power transformer of the Marantz SintoAmplifier, I changed the head for another one with an AT-95e set and then for another AT-3600 and the hum disappears.
I reinstall the head with BUM M1 and move the tray from the rack mount to another base, about 50 CM (20 Inches) away and then the hum disappears.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
the output signal of the AT-95e and AT-3600 is 3.5mV, the BUM M1 is 5.5mV. I had a problem when connecting the equalizer to the bass frequencies, I noticed the catilever had been mounted wrong on the rubber, the rear part should have been touching the magnet, I pulled it the catilever a little and everything was fine
Послушал сравнение на колонках с неравномерностью +/-2,5дб. Что тут сказать, надо радоваться той игле, что уже имеешь, а менять "шило на мыло" я бы не стал, разница не "вырви глаз" какая. Главное, что не вытекшая ГЗКУ))) У старых ГЗМ-ок часто пересыхает единственная резиночка-иглодержатель, от чего АЧХ начинает плыть, но им и лет-то сколько! Заточка ГЗМ-ок другая, это известно, зато такая заточка менее требовательная к тонарму, а он в СССР бывал укороченный (2ЭПУ65СМ).

En mi caso la BUM M1 tiene mejor calidad de agudos, y muy buenos bajos, incluso buenos sub bajos.
Pero...por algun raro motivo la BUM M1 capta el campo magnetico del transformador de poder del Sinto Amplificador Marantz, cambio el cabezal por otro con un conjunto AT-95e y luego por otro AT-3600 y el zumbido desaparece. Vuelvo a instalar el cabezal con BUM M1 y muevo la bandeja desde el montaje en rack hacia otra base, a unos 50 CM (20 Inches) y entonces el zumbido desaparece.
Alguien tuvo una experiencia similar?
uso excel QD700 mutcho bene, substitui por l BUM M1 una experiencia foi 14hs para mesmo produzir qualidade muito boa no Graves e medios , verifica ajuste do SRT e VTA
FUN video! AT3600 cantilever is carbon fiber, not plastic. My BUM M1 performed better than yours, but did have a very bright high end.

I hope that you will be interested in my short review of MM cartridges produced in the Soviet Union:
GZM(ГЗМ)-003/-103/-043 - a series of cartridges with elliptical (003, 043) and spherical (103) needle sharpening. Structurally, the cartridges are very similar to the Shure M-44/M-55/M-75 series of cartridges.
GZM(ГЗМ)-005(D)/-105/-205/-121 (D prefix means complete set of cartridge with headshell) - a series of cartridges with conical/spherical (and extremely slightly elliptical -005) sharpening of the needle. They do not have a close constructive analogue from other manufacturers. Far away - Empire.
GZM(ГЗМ)-053 - cartridge with elliptical needle sharpening. Structurally, it is very similar to the Ortofon OM series cartridges.
GZM(ГЗМ)-055/-155-1/-155-2 - a series of cartridges with elliptical (055, 155-1) and spherical (155-2) needle sharpening. They are licensed version of Ortofon series VMS20EMKII
Korvet-008/-108/-018 - a series of cartridges with spherical (008), elliptical (018) and multi-radius Gyger (108) needle sharpening. Beryllium needle holder. Excellent cartridge with good linearity.
Korvet-028/-128 - a series of cartridges with multi-radius Gyger needle sharpening. Beryllium needle holder.
Excellent cartridge with good linearity.
EDA(ЭДА)-001/-101 - a series of cartridges with elliptical needle sharpening. Features a unique design:
a significant difference between this pickup head and others is the absence of a magnetic circuit inside the coils, which eliminates signal distortion caused by losses in its magnetization reversal, eddy currents, etc. High sensitivity is achieved by using magnets with a residual induction of at least 0.75 T, two transducers in each channel, as well as coils containing a large number of turns. The permalloy cylinder also contributes to the increase in sensitivity, which straightens the magnetic lines of force so that the largest possible number of them most effectively cross the turns of the coils. For the same purpose, the length of the magnet is much less than the length of a two-section coil.

Г3м 205д sounds the best to me. Then 95e.
Mostly indistinguishable to me. Why waste time on adding resistors to a faulty POS stylus/cartridge? Just throw it in the trash. AT 95e and AT-3600 win because of consistent construction.
