Thank you so much for this video! I think it is the ONLY video on RUclips that addresses Bavarian Twisted/Traveling stitches worked FLAT. Still having a hard time re-wiring my brain on the WS with traveling stitches, but I'll get it. Now if only I could get used to Maria Ehrlbacher's Twisted Stitch knitting charting conventions!
I love it too. Check out my video on a stretchy Long Tail Cast On too. this is the one that I use for top down socks. ruclips.net/video/aPS3OKx1dQ0/видео.html. I love knitting socks.
Thank you for all the lessons! I have learned to knit socks because of your videotutorials and have now a big drawer full of colorful socks and sometimes I can even sell a pair or make someone happy with a sock present! :-)
This is a great question. Flat knitting is when you knit a right side row, then a wrong side row. Examples are shawls, scarves and such. In the round knitting is when you continually knit in a circle and all the rounds are right side. Examples include socks, sweaters knit in one piece, hats, mittens, etc.
They are similar but not the same. Twisted stitches are worked through the back loop causing them to twist. And they are twisted on every row, whereas, cables are usually only cabled on the RS rows when worked flat.
This is first video that has clearly explained Bavarian Twisted Stitches. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much, this is the only video I can find that works both rows…
Formidable Merci ! J’adore vos vidéos !
Vous êtes la bienvenue, Maellys May ! 😊
Thank you for making such a clear tutorial of this technique. I get it now, it seemed so difficult to me before this video. Thank you.
You are very welcome, Lana! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

This is the stitches I'm interested, it is like you read my mind, right timing. Excellent video tutorial, thanks for sharing your expertise.
What good timing. We must be on the same knitting wave lengths.
I've never knitted these stitches so will be anxious to try them. Thank you.

Yes you can!
What does knitting in the round vs flat?

love it! thank you!
Thank you! Happy knitting.
So, am I to understand that this is the same as cabling but much smaller?
They are similar but not the same. Twisted stitches are worked through the back loop causing them to twist. And they are twisted on every row, whereas, cables are usually only cabled on the RS rows when worked flat.
And, you never cross more than one stitch over another. Great question. Happy knitting.
Knitting with Suzanne Bryan Thanks for the clarification. 😊
