Jet Powered Go-Kart (Top Speed Run)

  • I Built another Jet Go-kart just to see what the Top Speed of the single Engine Jet-powered Go-kart is.
    In the previous jet go-kart video I did everything except for a top-speed run, so here it is, I thought it was kind of weak because I was expecting a lot more but the wind resistance is much stronger than You think it would be.
    I am editing this video after a Brain injury I sustained recently, so I'm not seeing things exactly the same way I used to right now, I hope this video is edited well lol.
    let me know what you think and wish me luck on posting more videos! these are pretty difficult sometimes.

    I was wondering about the top speed when i watched that original vid. Tbh i thought it would be a bit faster, i was able to get to 41mph on my own jet kart with a smaller engine and it was still accelerating, but i got sketched out.

    • @WarpedPerception
      @WarpedPerception  11 месяцев назад +40

      Yeah I think I remember that, I also thought it would have been much faster like over 80 mph. But it was definitely on the balance point and the wind resistance was definitely doing its thing. I think with some more aerodynamics it would have probably done 70 or 75, but honestly if I want to go faster I'll just put more engines hahaha.

      I saw a guy who was trying to break the world speed record with a RC car having to do a bunch of things similar to what would hold back the speed from air drag
      That dudes problem was tires, it’s prob a combination of road type and tires
      40 mph with a jet engine is pretty sketchy, idk how the dude did 60 mph in one, I bet a pothole or bump is a nightmare

    - improve the aerodynamics with some covers over the frame and the bottom
    - side skirts for groundeffect
    - add 2 vertical parallel fins behind (each) jet engine that are controlled via cables and the steering for giving you vector-thrust in tighter turns; if you have oversteer and you need to counter-steer the vector-thrust can help you to get the rear of the go-cart back on track

    • @WarpedPerception
      @WarpedPerception  11 месяцев назад +5

      That's what u would think but these are turbo jets, They don't pull in as much air as you would expect, most of the power from these engines comes from the fuel, If they don't get enough air they stall, that's pretty much it. I do however wonder if an air intake would increase the efficiency. See because no matter what these engines are RPM based, they're going to dump fuel until they reach the target RPM or stall in the case of not getting enough air. I'm definitely going to experiment with that

    If i ever did a channel, it would like this one! This dude is low-key, very intelligent, and down to earth at the same time.
    I my idea for a channel is turbo everything or muti engine everything. Junk cars, rc cars, go carts, lawn mowers, tunners, muscle..etc then compare them to a modern fast or super cars..

      Thank you! I had no friends growing up so it's bitter sweet. I love multi engine setups, I saw a dual engine Hyundai one time, can't remember what model but it even had two transmissions and the guy would put one in drive and one in reverse and do four-wheel donuts.

      True but I'm sort of scared of doing any top speed anything, I mean it's cool for the books and the numbers but when accidents happen at top speed they are usually very bad.

  • @p80mod

    Amazing engineering effort indeed! However, for comparison - a standard 125cc racing kart (such as Vortex Rok) gets up to 60 in 5 seconds and tops out - depending on gear ratio at around 80 mph. And oh boy, it can turn! So if someone proposes competition - stay away :) Also, your tires might actually be wet weather tires, as for a dry track karts use slicks only. Bridgestone slicks will certainly provide a lot of grip - and they don't wear too fast. I used to race karts professionally and I love this jet kart - awesome job man!

    Maybe with a better air intake of the jet engine you could get more thrust at higher speed, because with the current setup the seat is masking the intake of jet engine

  • @bozotheclown935
    @bozotheclown935 10 месяцев назад

    Pretty crazy setup specially with all that fuel and stuff in front of you.
    Just glad you didn't hurt yourself doing this. The sort of thing you should be doing at a racetrack with flame proof suits not on a back street somewhere.
    Anyway, good to see you survived it OK.

      Thanks, it was insanely painful for almost 2 weeks straight, I can't explain how intense and unbearable the pain was non-stop continuous. But I actually made it and I'm currently recovering, all I can tell you is a brain injury is no joke, it's really hard for me to explain how you pretty much have no control over what your brain is doing.

  • @unitimmy

    I'd love to see if the single jet makes much more top speed with some ducts feeding it air. It seems like as the speed increases, inlet pressure would be dropping. It's possible the added drag ends up equaling the improved thrust, but it'd be interesting to see especially because it looks like when you have 3 jets there will be 2 operating in clean air

    • @WarpedPerception
      @WarpedPerception  10 месяцев назад +1

      Well these are turbo jets, they don't really benefit from ram Air too much. With turbo jets if there's not enough air flow or the air pressure in front of the intake is too low then the engine will stall. The speed here is too low I would think maybe over 150 or 200 mph there might be enough of a low pressure zone behind the seat to reduce the amount of air to a point where it could cause problems, these engines get most of their thrust from burning fuel And they are RPM based, So the computer will inject fuel to get to the Target RPM. As for the 3 jets I am building a completely different setup for that.

  • @tullgutten
    @tullgutten 11 месяцев назад +1

    Better aero and an ram air duct for the jet as it gets very little air from being right behind you in the vacuum drag instead of getting some air pressure
