Starlink Delays? 2023!?

- SpaceX's progress on the Starlink rollout during the "Better Than Nothing Beta" has been truly amazing, however there are now a series of obstacles that taken together seem to be slowing things down. From chip shortages and liquid oxygen shortages, to lawsuits and laser links, I wanted to take stock of where things stand right now.

Thank god, I just got my order confirmation after 8 months of waiting!
Starlink is targeting coverage in your area in mid to late 2021.
Union City, OK I was hoping to have it this fall so I could telework.
From Arlington Nebraska was supposed to get our star link dish last August. Have no idea how to get an update on when it might arrive.
Central Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦, we've had Starlink for 2 months now.
Crazy fast.
Can stream anything I want.
No interruptions.
Love it.
That's awesome! Love hearing about the rollout improving things for people, especially in Canada!
Florence, SC. Preordered feb 23th, and still getting mid to late 2021.
In North Mississippi (34.825706) and pre-ordered Mid August 2021. Service still reflecting mid to late 2021. Anxiously awaiting email notification for dish delivery.
Ordered in February and still on for mid to late 2021. Thanks for the update.
Fingers crossed for you - thanks for watching!
Northwest PA.. ordered 2-9-21. Still stuck on mid to late 2021. Been stuck with DSL for years! 1.5mb down, 0.75mb up. Starlink can't come soon enough!
Very rural South MS here. Ordered back in Feb and still shows mid to late 2021. Can't wait to get off my 6 mbps hotspot. Funny thing is now the power company is actually saying anyone getting service will be able to get fiber soon (already running cables). At this point I'll take whatever reaches me first.
I'm in Harman, WV and the expected delivery is still being stated as Mid to Late 2021. However, I have not gotten any updates, and I really have no way to get an updated estimate or current status.
Tasmania, Australia…oh how the wait has been worth it…six days to get here from California and so easy to setup…speeds are revolutionary for us!
Hugo in the OBX of North Carolina. Our original beta delivery was late spring 2021. Now it is late 2021. Fingers crossed.
Of course other telecommunications companies are suing . Their asses will be kicked! Ordered mine in late September and I’m still logged for mid-to-late 2021. Patiently waiting!
Happy to be in the 100,000 gang! I got my starlink kit on August 9, 2021 here in Northern Nova Scotia.
Just got it mounted in the volcano mount on my roof earlier this week. But now I am noticing some major speed fluctuations throughout the house even though it is pointed in the correct direction.
Oh interesting - glad you got it mounted! I know the satellite service itself can fluctuate based on satellite position. If it depends on location in your house then that sounds like positioning of the wifi router inside the house. Maybe try moving that around a bit to get a better signal?
Enjoy it, and thanks for watching!
Yea, might have to reposition the router or get a couple of extenders. I’m in the mountains of central PA and my only hope is either starlink, or garbage phone line internet. I’m really really depending on starlink to provide internet better than my current 1mbs internet.
@@MikeOnSpace yes I've run some speed tests closer to the router but it's not much of a difference compared to out in the living room. There was a major outage a few days ago and I was affected, but my dishy what is it still located in the backyard in it's temporary set up that we had running before we mounted it on the roof in the volcano mount. Should I try repositioning the router first to see if that changes? Or should I restart the router completely first just to give it a little bit of a refresh?
@@ryanschaff2507 you may have a point, it will be hard to say. But I do feel your pain when it comes to slow Internet, I dealt with a company called Seaside high Speed up in the very northern part of my province here in Nova Scotia and they could only give me 1.5 Mb the Internet speed. The service was so terrible that it was an absolute nightmare trying to keep Internet especially in the winter, because if a winter storm came in we would lose Internet because the companies main towers we're located in the northern part of Nova Scotia as well in a highly elevated area causing the service to go down easily during the winter storm.
i ordered mine in april hope to get it sometime this december or even next year hopefully just really hope it’s soonish
SE Wisconsin, mid to late 2021. Ordered March 3, still waiting. I figure it will show up at the first major snowstorm!
I too am waiting, in Hudson WI, no update in a very long time, I cant stand the silence
I think what would be really cool once they they get the Laser Link working is to launch up web servers that can Laser Link with the satellites. I think that would shorten the latency considerably for StarLink customers to any website hosted by a low-orbit web server.
SE corner of Iowa here. Feb 11 deposit. Still says mid to late 2021. FINGERS CROSSED!
Western West Virginia preorder February 08. Account still says mid to late 2021. I have not seen any terminals in area.
I am in Canada, my territory says available by Mid to end of 2021. Open for preorder. I am just not sure if I should preorder as it’s already the end of the 2021 and we still have the same message. What would you do?
North Central North Carolina, placed order Nov-7-2021, Update states early to mid 2022 for service.
Similar timeline to there. Western central Washington. Ordered beta in February 2021. Still shows mid to late 2021. Moved into our rural retirement house in April. Excited to get internet again soon.
West Virginia. Ordered in February with a mid to late 2021 estimated service. Still waiting.
Pre order Feb 9th..just got a Starlink ready to be shipped email August 26 outside of Saint John N.B. Love your videos
Hope i don’t have to wait that long..i’m near Edmundston. Ordered on august 30 said it will ship September 17-23
Hey BUB. I also pre-ordered on Feb 9th in Saskatchewan outside of Saskatoon and I’m still waiting. I periodically check my account and it still says planned service in your area for mid to late 2021. Hope you like the service.
great update
Reserved in February 2021, live in Virginia on North Carolina state line. Still scheduled for mid-late 2021
Mid to late 2021, ordered in early February for central New Mexico.
Ordered in feb 2021 in southern Virginia however still no dish or updates
Mine has been shipped. Northern Ontario.
Got ours a month ago, but just before I put the dish on an outbuilding my maintenance guy mowing cut my cable! 😫 The good new is Starlink is sending a reconditioned kit at not cost. I’d have happily paid the $450 again. I was getting 280+ speeds to the modem, before the cable was cut . . .
Damn! Lucky you! Knowing the struggles of satellite and hotspot I know you would pay another $450! Hope I get mine before I move in to my new house! 😩
An early preorder in West Texas. Not a word or response yet.
Mine was shipped yesterday so I will get it on Wednesday 👍 I am in Atlantic Canada
Awesome, I wish I was you lol.
when did you place your order? Thanks.
@@John-of8vr Right on the starlink website.
I got it three months after I ordered
I'm in Southeast Texas and it still says mid to late 2021.
Still mid to late 2021. PreOrder in feb 8th still using viasat. So ready for useable internet
Texas here.subscribed in june, havent heard a thing from starlink.
As of now I’m still on track to receive mine oct nov up here above the Arctic circle in Alaska
If you get a terminal in oct/nov my guess is that you coverage will be horrible to none existent on the polar circle.
i am in souther north carolina and it still says mid to late 2021
Mid to late 2021, Western Slope, Colorado
Starlink has pushed us out from Mid 2021 to late 2021 here in Medicine Park, OK
Reserved mine in Feb of 21. Service estimate still says mid to late 21. This is killer waiting for it. Im using a wifi hotspot device that is absolute garbage waiting for this internet.
Once you get it you will see the wait was worth it for sure
Same here. Ordered in Feb 21 , still says "mid to late 2021" and haven't seen it yet. Using 2 hotspot plans to get 60 Gigs of about 8 mbps so I can work from home. It works but barely.
Reserved Feb 10th and as others waiting. Mid to late 21 estimate date.
I am in a rural area outside of Cologne, MN (west of Minneapolis). Reserved on day 1. Still says mid to late 2021.
That’s what ours says for east texas
patience is a virtue
did my deposit for North Idaho was mid to late 2021 and now updated to late 2021
To the Liquid Oxygen (LOX) issue, was just reading an article around this last night. We know Starship uses Methane+LOX, and Falcon9 uses RP1 Kerosene+LOX. LOX is also used by some municipalities for treating water (Tampa Bay, Orlando). Hospitals though bring in LOX tanks to warm up to gaseous O2 for patients, and this is especially needed for respiratory-challenged patients. Current surge in Covid is increasing patients, and by that, demand.
Yeah, I was surprised when I heard it. Makes perfect sense but not really something I'd considered as being in limited supply. I imagine they're already looking at making their own at Starbase given how vertically integrated they are in most other areas. Thanks for the comment!
@@MikeOnSpace The Starbase site, specifically the old Well site, has had a Liquid Oxygen distiller tower up since late Spring 2021. As to if it's functioning, or where they store the outcome product until taking it down the road, unclear. It was supposed to be more of a test for Mars in situ production. My guess is it's nowhere near enough volume, and would probably take months to produce enough for even one Starship (non Booster) launch.
Mine still reads “mid to late 2021 “ , but because starlink has such fragmented and minimal communication with it potential customers that I am not really sure what is happening
I signed up and paid when Starlink was offered to on the first day BUT I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM SINCE I'M IN AUSTRALIA ??????
Iam in ontario canada i ordered mine feb 6th 2021 . i have not heard anything when i will receive it. Hope its soon the internet provider iam using now
is awful
Still waiting, at 39.8, still mid to late 2021
I'm still mid-late 2021 for Australia (-26..9).
We order for the Philippines about 4 months ago , starlink was say it was hoping to start late 2021 to mid 2022.
We haven’t heard anymore than that ..
Has anyone else out there gotten any news for Philippine rollout?
Would love to hear it. 🤩🤩🤩
I am in the Philippines as well and when I check my account it still says the same, late 2021 or 2022, I live out in a province of BOHOL and this Globe internet is awful at best, but I would say all of America will be covered first before it ever comes here. So I am thinking it will be more like 2023 before it reaches the Philippines.
Mid to end 2021 is my order
I have ordered. A year ago. Ecuador 100km 60 mile inland from the coast of Ecuador. I called in June and said I’m on the list, but no update. June 2021 was the time expected. Are people getting email updates? Or is there a special page? Keep up the good worth and thanks.
Hi Karina! As far as I know it's just an email update once they're ready. That needs the country to approve and then user terminals to be built. The user terminals seem to be the bottle neck right now with the chip shortages. My fingers are crossed for you!
St.Thomas, USVI Expected in Y2022
Live in Canada and a bunch of people in my area are getting a dish within a week
Yah the people commenting waiting they are waiting for there area to open up if your region is open you can get the service fairly quick might be slowing down now
from Cleveland Ohio, just pushed out to mid-2023
Mine is still mid to late 2021. I'm in California
the covid situtation is exactly why places cannot get Liquid O2. our factory cannot get any bulk deliveries for the foreseeable future and that is the reason they gave us.
As of this morning I'm still targeted for "Mid to late 2021"...made my deposit early Feb. 2021.
Here as well... still hoping!
Same here Feb 2021 northern South Carolina
I preordered early to mid February. Im in southeast Arkansas. Mine still says mid to early 2021
If you are not in a target area you will probably be waiting until mid to late 2022
@@missmud2053 well they are just now runing cables at my road so i may not need starlink anymore. If it comes fisrt i will take my name off the list and make room for others
Mid to late 2021 northern Michigan
The chip shortage is killing everything
Still says late 2021 for me here in Alberta.
A good sign - no comments so far on any delays to 2023. I'm hoping it was just a glitch! Thanks for the comment!
Ordered it and its been 3 months
Hey mike just wanna let u know I finally got my Starlink about 2 weeks ago and it’s been a game changer ..totally loving it and ditched my community’s internet ...thanks to your videos for the info
That's awesome! Did you get it mounted somewhere with a clear view? I'm thinking about doing a few videos covering the various mounting options. Thanks for watching!
@@MikeOnSpace yes i did i had to mount it on my roof ...app says no obstructions so i think im good for now ...yess would love to see more videos ...hope to see em soon have a good day!
South west of France here. Ordered in may, confirmed today ! Hopefully the delivery will be fast.
Did you receive it yet? How’s the experience. South East France here, anxious to know how the coverage is here
@@jaapbums heya ! The numbers are pretty good : 100 to 300 mb download. 30 upload. But i'm facing 15 minutes of connection errors on a 12h00 span. So it's ok but nor for gaming or streaming now. Maybe that's the dish position. Under testing now 😉
@@kostraone thank you for your swift reply. I guess the satelites have too much distance from eachother over France.
@@jaapbums your welcome mate. yeah maybe. I also got a electrical fence close to the optimal location close to my house. Maybe i got interferences. So i have a decent connection over a 4g box for zoom (but Comes with a data cap). Meanwhile i use Starlink for all other tasks (with better up/down spec but more or less outages)
@@kostraone I see on the satelite map, my area is now covered too. Have you seen any improvements after updates? Thank you in advance 👌🏻
Ordered StarLink last January and just received it about a week ago. I'm in eastern Washington State. Was on dial-up for the last 20 yrs and in fact really never used the internet much until now.
This service has potential. I hope there will be an opportunity to pay with bitcoin or USDT.
pre-ordered February 19... still waiting. Still says mid to late 2021.
Mid to late 2021 is upon us. Feels like it has to come soon! Thanks for watching!
Still mid to late 2021 south/central Alberta
PreOrdered starlink in July, (illinois)still says mid- to late 2021. I’m estimating/ hoping it will get to me around late January
So do you think when they give you option to preorder we should take the option? My territory is same, mid to Late 2021, open for preorder. I don’t know much about this but I just need to improve my Wi-Fi 😕
@@yoospianocafe8466 I recommend preordering it as soon as possible, starlink is first come first serve and there’s a lot of people preordering it now,
@@simplycarsen6305 Thank you, just placed an order. Can’t wait!!

In Nova Scotia, signed up Feb 8 and still waiting though some people around are getting dishes.
Yeah, I've heard a few people reporting just over the last few days getting access in NS and NB. I'm not sure if that's from moving down in latitude or if they pick clusters of cells periodically. I always keep my eyes open for rooflines with a dishy when I'm driving around :) Thanks for watching!
Elon cannot or will not keep a commitment. I signed up Feb 8 of 2021. Was to I would have starlink mid 2021. About Dec 2021 I was told Mid 2022. Now he says mid 2023. They say I could get "best effort" but it would still be the full price. Yesterday I submitted to get my money back. Looking at Elon's history, that man could not finish a project if his life depended on it.
As I see it Starlink is Not a good system it needs much improvement to be a good system. BUT it is better than and working then other systems It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness. We are better with Starlink than without it. Problems and all Some action is better than no action! At this point in time
I completely agree! I will happily take the "better than nothing beta" because at least it's progress in the right direction! I've got confidence things will keep improving over time and maybe in the future it will be better than the alternatives. Thanks for watching!
@Something Different right Good is relative. Starlink understands the faults in they system and is trying to improve it like better/improved satellites and User terminals
My estimate is mid to late 2021
Been waiting a year. Missouri
Good to see you more frequently.
Starlink is targeting coverage in my area in 2022.
Yes, life gets busy sometimes but I should be posting more regularly now. Hopefully things keep moving ahead with Starlink and you get access sooner! Thanks for watching!
I'm in NE NS and have had mine for a month. Friend just up the road ordered theirs 2 nights ago... No deposit. Shipping right away.
For the past few weeks I have had some issues. Speeds in the single digits. But 5 minutes later it could be 250 down and 40 up again.
Had a few outages too. They told me they are actively working on resolving it.
The link to the symposium video is down does anyone have a upload that works ;)
Shoot - looks like the video's been taken down. That was the only one I was able to find - I'm guessing he was asked to remove it. I think my excerpts definitely fall within the fair use guidelines, but let's see if I get asked to take this down too :)
If the official videos are posted later I'll update my references. Thanks for the heads up!
In Florida still says Mid to late 2021
South Florida says the same. Ordered back in May. I looked at the sat map and Space X still has a few clusters of sats to move around so they aren't worried about the next launches all that much yet. Will be nice to see when they do a 400 sat dump out of Starship.
Western PA mid to late 2021
Launches are going again - I wish you luck in getting selected! Thanks for watching!
SW Virginia still mid to late 2021

It just says 2022 for Philippines, but they did get govt. approval at least so maybe it will someday happen.

At least if your gonna sue SpaceX back it up with a better faster available product. These people are creating all this drama with nothing to offer, all they want to do is keep us in the stone age.
I know right! It's just so transparently grasping at anything to slow down SpaceX and ViaSat's eventual demise. I wish they would spend their energy trying to come up with something new instead.

Likewise for Eastern CT, sticking to that original projection.
we had viasat their garbage.. and they charge u to diactivate ur service
Beta is getting better and alot of users from the maritimes and Nova Scotia.
Thanks for update video.
Do U know what will be the maximum number of users worldwide?😶
That's a great question! I don't know a max, but I am planning a video covering all the planned layers of the constellation.
