Nice review, I actually own a H.K Sandstorm which is a clone of this vechile buy already comes with the upgraded dogbones and brushless motor (4500kv 2838 motor) Also my brother owns a Himoto Prowler which is based on the same platform but different, it's the race style buggy however instead of having the chassis with the under load battery bay, it's flat and you load the battery under the body. Also the motor is mid mounted like the cage versions. His came with a 2838 3200kv motor but it runs on 2S and 3S unlike my Sandstorm which has a 2S only ESC. So yeah you can actually use Himoto Prowler parts including the front wheels which are the same ball bearing hubs from all models buggy, SCT, truggy and MT. As well as change the chassis if you want. Also if you want to use hex wheels up front, you can use a 5x12x4 mm ball bearings and it will sit in there quite nicely without having to glue in the wheel and use just like a bearing hub mount wheel, althogh you may have to use a couple of the original bearings and or washers on the outside as spaces. For your battery bay as with my Sandstorm, I found the Turniggy 1600mah Losi mini 2S batteries a good fit due to their square shape and size. Also probably a slip of the tongue but changing the front wheel diameter does not affect the gearing on these 2WD Buggies, only changing the rear wheels do that and yes I use Kforce 1/10 rear buggy wheels and tyres on mine both off road tread and on road for circuit racing and yes does give it a higher top speed and more grip! Also my brother uses HBX 1/12 MT tyres on the rear of his which work really nice for off road and surprises a few with its capability for just a 1/12 RWD Buggy. The Tamyia holiday buggy tyres for the front seem like a good idea perfect size for this buggy, althogh they are not true 1/10 size wheels but a little smaller which is good for this. I have tried full size 1/10 2WD buggy tyres on the front and they don't work that well. Haven't uploaded any Sandstorm videos yet but there's a few of the Himoto you can check out on my channel, if you have any questions please let me know 👍🏻
Cheers for the info Andrew! I actually ended up selling this Comet on to fund...er...I cant remember now...whatever I craved at the time! The kids have still got them though so the spares info is very useful cheers! Will check your vids out!
Hi Adrian. These are the batteries I used (cannot vouch for the seller this was just the 1st google result...I got them from ebay :) ) www.amazon.co.uk/Crazepony-UK-Battery-1500mAh-Universal-Replacement/dp/B076GZ5PFK
@@adriandavies4502 I never bothered to be honest as they seemed pretty durable. They arent anything unusual in setup though, just measure overall length, maybe 1/10th buggy fronts for the rear and some kinda tamiya fronts...the world's your oyster!
Hiya I always used the "crazepony" or similar 2S lipos. Similar to these : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184635804232 and either an esc with deans or adapt to deans.
These are a perfect fit due to square shape meaning you can get 1600mAh capacity in a compact space, perform well too. I use to use zippy compact 1300mah but these are alot better 👍🏻 hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-1600mah-2s-20c-losi-mini-sct-pack-part-losb1212.html
Do you have a video showing how to relocate the motor so its inside the casing please?
Cool vid mate
