Father Coyne, your homilies during Father Unni’s sabbatical were so uplifting and soul-refreshing. We’ll miss you here in New Jersey. (And we’re so happy that Fr. Unni will be back on the altar!!

Take a break, Fr. John! The ministry is in good hands with Fr. Ron. Best thing you can do for your parish (and you!) is to drop the FOMO and dive in! Love ya, Padre! God bless you and may the Spirit lead you forth!

John - enjoy your well-deserved sabbatical - you will be missed very much, but I am happy to see that we are in great hands. Thank you! Stay safe and have a blessed time with the R's - reflection, rest and renewal. :-) Peace be with you, always.

I remember the corvette! Fr. Coyne ministered under my Granduncle, Rev. Daniel Dunn at St. Margaret's. Talk about different models of priesthood! Fr. Dan was a lovely guy, but old school. You know, a bit detached, community involvement not stretching much beyond the bingo. He was an academic and historian at heart. Fr. Coyne's arrival was like some kind of pastoral defibrillator, especially for the parish youth. Fr. Coyne was the first priest I recognised (and appreciated) as being human. Just a regular guy who... oh, by the way, is a priest. And that makes ALL the difference. It's why I'm drawn to your ministry Fr. John, and I put Fr. John Culloty in the same basket too. I'm glad the parish will be in these safe hands while you enjoy your sabbatical.

Hello from a former St. Mark’s parishioner and teacher.
John, I got hooked on St. Cecilia’s masses since the pandemic and am looking forward to visiting in the near future...you are the best. Wish you were closer to Westwood.😊
Fr. Coyne, good luck at St. Cecilia’s and I’ll sneak a few online Masses even though my husband thinks it’s skipping if you aren’t in the church.
Best of luck to the both of you!

Thanks for this inspiring dialogue, Fr. John and Fr. Ron. You guys model the kind of priesthood the church needs (of course, there still needs to be be a few women added to this group, as deacons and priests 😉). Welcome, Ron!

There will never be female priests, it’s not biblical.

@@marys5624 There are already female priests in the Episcopal/Anglican church (and Lutherans and other churches). Vatican II said the Holy Spirit operates in these churches also. The day will come. Clericalism and hierarchicalism are big roadblocks to the Holy Spirit.
