    Good info man. I think the biggest hurdle for most new folks is just understanding thet not all fresh water is created equal, water is more than wet. Understanding the basics of water chemistry is key. Once you understand the rules you have to play by and how certain actions effect those parameters then its easy lol. You gotta get out the science kits regularly to do it correctly unless you just have perfect caridina tap water lol. I kinda doubt they would survive in the tap water I keep neos in.
    In my first go round so far once you get parameters stable then soft water tanks are much easier than hard water. If I blasted my neo tanks with as much light as I do my caridina tank it would be pea soup or 80% hair algae 20% water lol. I think this makes it way easier to keep water perfect with plants alone. I been changing like 2 gallons every 2 weeks just because, never register anything its always all zeros as far as nitrogen goes.

      Thx mark for the detailed comments. It's so true. I cringe when people use the term tap water for caridina shrimp as they need a specific range and all tap water differs from city to city. My area on the other hand has perfect caridina water as it comes out 15ppm tds and it's pretty cleab except when it rains then there's a lot of sediment. But you're the neo master and with good quality as you know, they can do well in a wide range. Thx so much for the support

    VinShrimp uses thick soil layers like 3-5cm.
    Personally i use a thin layer but i also have to reset the tank every year.
    It all depends on the rest of your setup and your plans.

    I personally have to say that depending on your tap water you can keep caridina shrimp and what I do is put tap water inside a bucket and leave it for at least 2 weeks,I also add dechlorinator to the water along with some tank/pond water for bacterias.I honestly agree with most myths you have said but when you didn't mention that depending on caridina variant the breeding rate is higher or lower for example most tiger shrimp have a higher breeding rate and hardiness.

    Idk why my caridina shrimp didnt swarm food like my neo tank..is it possible due to my caridina tank has lots of unseen biofilm and algae?? And somehow they prefer algae/biofilm over other food??

    • @RWAquariumPages
      @RWAquariumPages  Год назад

      That could be it. Caridina shrimp don't eat as much and they're probably over fed or have enough food. As long as they're pooping it'll be fine. I'll post some of my caridina shrimp swarming soon!!

      @@RWAquariumPages thanks for the reply..yes the amanos, malayas and caridinas are all pooping normally..kinda concerning but i put 1-2 pieces of varied food such as sinking pallet, algae wafer, snowflake, barley stick and glassgarten artemia every 2-3 days..in addition to catappa leaves and cholla wood ..so far they are all good and healthy
