Hi Luke. Great video. I personally just like good old trail hike camp videos like this one. Seems like all the channels are becoming the same. Everyone camps with a dog, now several channels are using electric bikes, and they all are cooking fancy meals. I prefer the good old solo walking camps and keeping things minimal. But I will continue to watch whichever you decide because I love your channel.

He sadly passed away a couple of years ago, so I have lost my camping buddy. Do you bring any type of personal protection with you, on your sole trips? If so, you should do a little segment on on some good products. I am in the first quarter of this video, and I want to wish you an enjoyable, and safe time!!!!! Years ago I found an '81 Yamaha 850 Midnight Special at a garage sale for $1000. It needed quite a bit of work and maintenance. It was a fun project. That motorcycle brought me the greatest joy as a motocamper. I toured almost all of Arizona, southern Utah, southwestern Colorado and northwestern New Mexico. Minimalist camping with a tarp, sleeping bag, air mattress, a Coleman Peak One stove, my GI mess kit and a soft Walmart cooler for a couple of brews and whatever food I picked up along the way. It was a total freedom blast! A Spanish Bota carried my water. I love motorcycles and have been an enthusiast since age 19. Crotch rockets to cruisers. Now at 75 I'm considering a BMW machine on-off road to get deep in the woods and away from all the craziness of our changing world.

I thought about switching. Thanks to your endorsement of the S21 ultra, I'm keeping Android! Without a doubt, my best phone ever! I even bought the Fold 3 from Samsung for $1800! Which is basically a folding tablet. Great for watching RUclips videos and your channel, but that's it. I gave mine to my wife. She loves it! The only issue I have is the screen gets the tiniest of scratches and it needs repair. I run my business completely from my S21 ultra. Here in Germany, it's either a usually cramped official camp ground or stealth. Camping outside of mostly trailer and RV campgrounds is prohibited, unless you have permission from a forset owner to camp, but you can't have any fire then too.
The view at the end is spectacular.
Get yourself any kind of vehicle you like, Luke. That’s my vote.

Nice one Luke👍 Even with the windy night, no issues to deal with except a stink bug or two... Try doing this out west on ranch land with no trees just range grass, good luck. Well you have a vehicle that you can use now to go off road and camp, you're choosing not to. I would suggest a side by side ATV, my son and daughter in law bought one last year and have a blast with it. Goes places that can make your heart skip a beat or two but if careful can get you to paradise also. I did it on a Honda 600R for years all over the Rockies, no broken bones but a few scrapes, comes with the territory. Great video and mini adventure, thanks for the work and views, awesome stuff. I carry a tent and a tarp and a couple collapsible poles. If I have to set up in the rain, the tarp goes up first and then I can assemble the tent under cover. The entrance to the tent is covered by the tarp. With the poles, I can also raise the tarp if I break down in the middle of the day in the desert and need some shade. I never know were I am going to be at the end of the day, so I have to be prepared for anything.
On a motorcycle, you can see so much more than you can see in a car. I was riding south out of Lone Pine a few years ago. I heard a strange noise and looked to my left just in time to see an F/A-18 Hornet scream past me. My entirely subjective estimate is that it was flying at 600 mph, 200 feet off the ground, and about 500 feet away. Probably going from Fallon to China Lake.
Smells are immediate. There is a road in Eastern Washington that, every time I ride it, I can swear I smell dill. Of course, there are stockyards next to I-5 near Stockton. You can imagine what I smell every time I ride through there.

I’m old! I’m also a retired Ft.Worth, Tx. Police Officer. I wanted to be a motor cop. I talked to my sgt. and he said, “ Mike, there’s only two kinda guys that ride motors, them that’s crashed and them that’s gonna!” My brother-in-law always argued with me about my concern over him riding a motorcycle. One day he crashed … broke both of his legs and several bones in his right hand. His friendship with me is much greater now. He no longer owns his Harley. Get that Japanese 4 wheel drive you were talking about. You are an intelligent man. BE SAFE ! Susie would be very upset if something happened to you…so would I !

Luke. I learned to ride a motorbike many years after my passing driving test. It made me a far better driver, and I shortly passed my advanced riding test, thus making me a far safer rider, as a result, if you can get the training, then would I suggest the motorbike direction, but getting a suitable machine that can also handle some off road. You would have the mobility and carrying capacity along with the flexibility of narrow tracks and trails, that neither of the other two would give you. If you were to go down tough terrain then it maybe wise to do so with other riders, able to both watch and take care of each others safety. Like you, I am not a fan of the one stop orchard technology. All the very best and I look forward to wherever you take us in your journeys.

LUKE You talk about doing stealth camping, have you ever thought about doing a winter camp set up in a parking lot snow bank. I saw 1 where a guy did it at a walmart facing away from the parking lot and roads. Just an idea for you to ponder. The guy I watched used a sleeping pad a small fuel burner stove, a shovel and a sleeping bag and some food.

Luke, just enjoyed another one of your videos. I really like the motorcycle idea. When I was younger, I started riding. The sense of freedom and the thrill carving through the air and around the bends is something I cannot do justice with words. BUT, I have a bad back. The jostling of the bike as it goes over uneven pavement painfully overloaded my back. Eventually my back degenerated to the point it was impossible to enjoy riding. However, if the motorcycle option is what you choose, may I suggest taking a motorcyle safety course. The course taught me some of finer points of motorcycle handling and riding. With the techniques I learned, I spent less riding time on handling the bike and more time watching out for other drivers around me. Lookiing forward to what your decision will be.

I am really curious which part of NC this is. I am itching to camp again with my husband & I just can't get enough of nature. It's my therapy after my grandpa left us. I feel so much closer to him when I immerse in the beauty and wonder of nature. I cannot wait to camp and hike some more soon, I just need some decent spots. Could never tell which ones are worth the time and effort. Any suggestions would be great. On that note, I really enjoyed this video, as always. I learn something new every time from this channel

If you are going to start moto camping I think the Honda trail 125 would be a good option . Lightweight, reliable, quiet and great fuel economy . A solid choice for minimal impact moto camping.
As for importing a suv consider a Kei class. About the same size as a UTV but fully inclosed with heat and AC , you could also get a mini pickup or 4wd van. Guess it depends on how you want to use it, what's available and how much money you're looking to spend .
Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do 😁

With motorcycle camping you have several options. I have camped with My Motorcycle it is a cruiser. That means street riding or well maintained 2 track and very limited limited space for gear. You can also look at full dresses. Honda Goldwing, Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, ect. This type of bike gives alot more storage but again limied to road use. Today Adventure bikes are growing in popularity. This bike gives both on and offraod capabilities. Which obviously would open a ton of camping opportunities. Space is limted but for a minimum light weight camping capable person like you this shouldn't be a problem. In fact I feel you would really enjoy it. So lots to consider if you want to do M/C camping. Looking forward to see what you decide on doing.

There is a certain question I would like to ask you about camping in a thunderstorm. I figured you would know a lot more, because of the special skills you have learned from doing it yourself. I do love thunderstorms and all, but what if one would come up unexpectedly and your to far away to leave and you get stuck having to stay out in the tent for the rest of the night. People say that it's a bad idea. So could you please explain to me the do's and dont's when you are in a tent, what's the best thing to do to keep yourself from getting struck by lightening? .......Thanks Luke....great work!...👍.... Truly surprised at the lack of responses to your question about preferred phone. Definitely prefer Android phones. Currently with a Motorola, but my previous 2 were Samsung. I am forced to use an Iphone 10 for work and absolutely annoyed with it. Thankfully work pays for the phone and the cell plan. lol Great video of your adventure.

Luke, have you considered getting a used Toyota 4Runner? I just got a 2017 Limited and will be modifying it to go more off road. At least it has heated/cooled leather seats - a plus in hot or cold weather. They're reliable and run for way longer than other vehicles. The Limited also has a V6 normal aspirated engine.

I´ll add my 2 cents to this "future videos" conversation. I vote for the motorcycle (but I own a motorcycle so I am biased). The way I see it, you have two pro-motorcycle arguments (amongst many others). First - if you are ever going to do it, do it now, noone gets any younger and finally doing it ten years from now is going to be, well kinda harder. Second - when you take four wheels, you basically drive to your campsite. When you take a motorcycle, adventure starts the moment you leave your home - so basically it adds the transportation adventure to the event much like walking/hiking to your camping spot. When it comes to motorcycle choice - unlike all the dualsport enthusiasts say, you can actually ride a heavy cruiser to almost anywhere on a relatively clean and smooth gravel/dirt road, it is just a matter common sense (meaning slower) speed and calm riding.
