In today's video I'm shopping my closet so I don't go shopping. Re-creating Pinterest outfits is one of my favourite ways to play "dress-up" in my closet, and get more use out of my own clothes. It's a great way to get re-inspired by your own closet and your own taste, and scratch that shoppy itch.

I just love these kinds of videos. You give good examples of how you’re not copying an outfit but using it to inspire. Best example: from the white top to the red top to the tube top. Keep going till you nail it.
You definitely rescued that moto boot outfit. It was not looking good until you put on the tube top. One thing about the inspo--the t-shirt and the skirt were the same color, so you managed to achieve the same effect after all.
You totally nailed the moto/cowboy look with the tube top. It’s so great seeing how something evolves to the “YES!”

Totally agree with what others have said about rescuing the moto boot look with the tube top. Giving more skin and pairing it with a darker color top creates a sleeker maxi dress effect, balancing out the chunkier moto boots.
And yes, I think the skirt can be taken up a bit, especially since it's high-waisted. A little bit more ankle exposure will also show off the footwear!
I love these kind of videos where the image is a launch pad to inspire an outfit that works for you instead of a literal translation or direct copy. I appreciate the walking through the thought processes how to fine tune an outfit. The little details make all the difference between an outfit working or falling flat. It’s helped me so much in elevating my own style whilst being authentic to what I actually like to wear and how I like to feel and present myself. Great looks.

Speaking of Sam Edelman, their loafers are the best!!! They don’t hurt my feet and I have very sensitive feet. Literally can’t wear most shoes. But Sam Edelman loafers are the best. I did try their slingbacks and while they are very chic and more comfortable than others on the market, I just don’t like wearing any heels so they don’t work for me. But for people who don’t mind even a kitten heal they are great.
Hi, I enjoy watching your channel however I bought a bag from songmont that I saw on your channel. They have terrible customer service they sent it to a wrong address. It took forever to get from China. I emailed them for over a month asking them to track the bag and they never replied. I finally had to go to PayPal and dispute to charge. I would never buy from this company.

I have heard similar stories about Songmont. Other problematic brands, pushed by influencers are Lilysilk and Merit…
I have learned to block out sponsorships - but it’s hard! And I often skip in videos, for my own sanity.. And wallet..
sometimes the brands treat the creators differently, so the creator would have no idea about this.
seeing some of the comments on this thread: i have purchased from lilysilk & merit (twice each) with no issues whatsoever.
It's unfortunate that many creators don't vet their products as long as the pay is right or it looks good on the surface.
Preppy is one of my words, so it was a bit funny to see you purposely avoid being that! 😂 These videos are great however, since Pinterest's definition of prep does not match my interpretation, so I don't want to 100% imitiate the pics I see but haven't gotten good yet at using inspo photos effectively. I really like watching campus street style vids, particularly Ivy League, and Tokyo street style where preppy never dies, never even sleeps!. Also vintage Ralph Lauren campaigns, Tommy H etc, even back to Perry Ellis, not for the clothes specifically but for the styling and interpretations.

Your green boots are goals with the navy sweater. I have a ela handbag I purchased not too long ago and it's green and now I have so many ideas for outfits where it can be the pop I need. I really appreciate what you said about scandi chic being adding a pop of colour in accessories to neutral outfits I already do this some so I am going to lean into it more. I think you really nailed all the outfits and demonstrated how you used your own closet to do it!

Maybe I’m crazy but I think you look SO cool in the t shirt and vest! It strikes me as very 90s or even punk rock. Something about it feels original even though I know I’ve seen the outfit before.

I like the skirt outfit and the last outfit with the Oxford white shirt the best. The jeans you were wearing in the intro with the skin showing then the brown shoes broke up the sight line (like you spoke about avoiding in the section with the black skirt and taller boots). I have a similar shape (longer torso, not long legged) and find that style of jean makes legs look shorter and even more so with an untucked shirt.
Love the last look. Kudos on the $20 patent leather croc boots from VV. Wow. Would love a video on your shoe inventory.

Great video! I would love to see a video and hear the thought process of decision-making on how to know if a piece is worth the investment and price point. I know we've heard about cost per wear, longevity, and quality. But decision-making is tough when we are trying to balance that with minimalism, not overconsuming, and literally having space to store it. My current example is that I've lost enough weight that my White denim jacket I use for Spring and summer is just way too big and not worth tailoring. I've been watching for one while thrift shopping for the last 6 months and realizing that people don't donate much white because it does get stained and yellowed. However I have both a blue and black denim jacket already that I use a lot. So I'm wondering if I need the white? I want one but can't decide.

Great advice to adapt a look to feel more like ourselves. Even so, I think it's a good idea to stretch and "walk in someone else's shoes" as an experiment for a day. For look 3, the inspirational photo had a very light vibe as relief against a hot and dusty day. I would have liked to see you keep the white T and tuck it inside your own tiered skirt and pull your skirt waist up to empire waist height like the photo. Also you could use a pin to pull up a point on the top of the bottom tier to the top of the second tier in order to create some space and air movement at the hem. The model in the picture is doing that with her hand and she is making a nice contract between the lightness and movement of the skirt against the heavy boots and heat of the day.
Tucking in your T would have cinched in the boxiness of the T for your slim element. If you did not want to tuck it in, rotating the hem of the T and pinning it in a few places would also slim down the T. The vibe's most outstanding feature was the red. You could have added an accessory pop of color like a bag or scarf.
I am wondering if you gravitated toward the Navy skirt because it is more you or because it is more spring? Would you lean into a light cotton or linen when temperatures soar above 95F? In either case, I can imagine you in the moto boots when it's 95F because they suit you. 👢👢👢👢👢
