Vauhwi Because 1) they're underpaid and thus undertrained/incompetent, 2) they have little incentive to protect the art, 3) they're typically not the smartest people (no offense, but I worked as a night guard, we're friendly, but most of us are easily outsmarted). It's 100% the museum's fault for not investing more into security.
My math teacher in 8th grade told us a story about this once. He was a student at an architectural college right across the street from the Gardner museum. A week before the robbery, one of his assignments was to look around the museum (with museum and school permission) and measure/sketch a loose layout of the building for a project. Basically he had a floor plan of the whole museum. A week later once the museum was robbed, him and his classmates were question by the FBI since they were believed to be part of the crime, even though it was sheer coincidence!
Nah why isn't this plausible? It's a week, not the day before, and the FBI would investigate them in case they told the robbers some valuable information.
The professor was secretly one of the two thieves and used the students project to make a model of the building so they could get in and out as quick as possible
Who knows, those artworks could either be hidden in a concealed wall, or stored in an attic. Heck, they could be hidden in MY attic for all I know, I don't go up there.
@@tarunkumaar625 doubtful seeing how that's extremely risky and seeing how the robbers seemed amateurish I doubt they would have had the connections to sell the paintings.
You didn’t say this but I saw it it a Buzzfeed Unsolved video that the second security guard had a conversation with the thieves that went something like this. Security Guard 2: “Why am I under arrest?” Thief: You’re not under arrest, this is a robbery. Don’t do anything stupid and you won’t get hurt.” Security Guard 2: *”They don’t pay me enough to get hurt.”*
I live near the museum and when I was in middle school some kids had a field trip there. They apparently don’t put anything where the paintings used to be and they await their safe return one day.
My college is right across the street from the Isabella. The frames for the painting are still on the wall today. The museum is privately owned, and when the original owner (Isabella Stewart Gardner) died, she left in her will that nothing be taken down or replaced. Because of this, they can’t take down the frames. It’s kind haunting and weird to see, especially because the robbers cut them out, and you can still see a tiny bit of the edging for where the paintings would have rested.
You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs. The only thing that would be better than watching one of your videos would be watching a collaboration between you, knowing better, Half as interesting (wendover productions), and maybe the infographics show. Has the police checked that other art in musume are original or just a wallpaper. There is a possibility that the person who has stolen painting dosent have 13 wallpaper. Its possible.
I live near boston and I went to this museum. I asked one of the security guards if they think they’ll ever find the paintings and she said she’s not allowed to take about it and she covered her earpiece microphone or whatever while saying it. Everyday they look to see if anyone looks suspicious and possibly knows about the theft it seems like. After all, what does the bad guy do? they review their work after it done.
It could, but when it does it's usually either a new addition that's basically pointless or a classic that's almost an eight to a quarter as much as the actual painting. In a sense it's pretty much 50/50.
When Isabella died, her will stated that everything in her house (the museum) must not be moved. So when the art was stolen, Isabella's will went into effect. The frames of the art are still hanging in the gallery.
