EDIT: On the mock build slides I didn't update the box at the top showing passive/counter, however they are correct within the links in the description, and are also shown on the initial infographic of the video.
Hi JB, great review as always!!, just highlight your comment about his accuracy, none one is talking about that and indeed will be a problem in the near future. Even with that in mind for me new Seph is a MUST PULL, not only because is the best to defend against the current meta, but also.... can you imagine having any chance against the new Gilgamesh (he will be so broken...) without new Seph in your team?, because I can't :D
@@JB79 exactly!!. One of the things that I like about this game (besides my love for FF franchise of course) is the ability of Gumi and Square to keep the game interesting (even after 4 years) with this kind of stuff like making a unit counter but a the same time a great teammate without "breaking" the game. It's a must pull even if you didn't planned for it. Brilliant!!! 👍. I believe Global will have a great month in revenues!!. Be well and keep up the great work, and looking forward your next video!! :D
Been saving for a few months to have the Visiore stores to get Seph; I did, but it took me until 95% pity- literally one one of two cases where continuing to pull for the 100% is the way to go (since the additional 4000 visiore would be equivalent of two in the shop, but with the extra pull loot) Now trying to build the best teams around him
Im so sad they couldnt get the original 2B caught up with her upgrades. It would be so fun to see her among meta katana teams. Crazy sad how big the recent power creep ended up being. Little point using old units :( Sorry, EDIT: I said A2, when I meant 2B. The wind katakana unit. Not the ice greatsword unit.
Now that you mentioned Frostbite, I think could be interesting having different ailments per element Fire -> Burn Thunder -> Paralyzis Water -> poison or something like that
Water units don't get status effects on skills. Fire units get a ton tho. I never understood why people think fire is weak. Basically every unit in their roster has a match winning, high percentage status effect or 3. Seph is no different.
Definate I am pulling for him. In JP he apparantly is a corner stone for the Summer Glacy and Gigamesh teams. Also the team of him and the new Lucy looks like a nasty combination.
I basically have all the fire element cards necessary to make him work. Dark Ifrit, Phoenix, Psaro's VC. It's a good thing my account is technically a Fire Main.
I don't have the team to support him. I have to stick with great sword or just hope for another strong earth and/or sword knight coz I really like using ash mont
Honestly, Seph and Katana is it's own build, sure you can mix him in with other teams, but to get extended value out of him long term you want the various fire and katana pieces to complement him in a variety of teams. Greatsword will continue to be viable, just with some more competition.
I did check it out, maybe I would've been more into it 15-20 years ago when it came out - it was fine, but nothing incredible. Cool action set pieces, not a ton of substance.
Like many, the want is there but the visiore bank and what ifs of future potential is a hard pill to swallow. If Gumi wants my money they'll throw me an easy 300 ticket pull them I'll be "forced" to build him haha😅
Definitely tough to deal with so long as there is such little counterplay to curse. Once that is easier to handle I think he's still a good competitive bruiser, so he should have long legs in the game.
Congrats! Well at least you can probably get some use of the TMR! I would definitely keep him in the barracks to finish him off eventually, you may like to use him in the future!
With our more limited foresight, and the increased cost of holo VC's I think that is the case for a lot of folks! At least there are a small handful of other competitive units at the moment!
Despite gumi/square going bonkers again with Sephiroth, i pass. I really don't like mirror matches, and I expect to see him EVERYWHERE. I will save my resources for Gilgamesh.
Have to draw the line somewhere, it is their job to make a compelling unit people want to pull every month, so far recently they've been doing that. It's just too hard to collect them all.
The cool thing about Gilgamesh is he can fit into so many of the existing teams - he works well with Ice, Ice/Water, Ice/Earth, and RDM works well with either GS or Katana. Looking forward to his flexibility.
@JB79 Definitely. Plus I was a big gilgamesh player back in the day. I spent so much vis on his double cost shards back in the day there's no way I'm missing this one at half the cost lol.
Old Cloud is 3 years old, and Lightning is now 2 years old. Lightning is still doing decent enough vs Jeume, but those old units are just power crept now, that is unavoidable as the game continues to age. I feel you though, I want them to make some more considerable updates at least to stuff from last year at a minimum to make it more competitive.

Definitely pulling for him and his VC.
Good luck, hope its not too painful!
thanks for including the movie clip!
It was a cool part of the movie!

Well said! They definitely created more of a need for him with Gilgamesh, but at the same time also created a great teammate for him too

Oof, I had to full pity him, felt really bad. Once i have his new vision card, I think more good teams can open up for him.
@@JB79 Feel ya; of course, given this has been my online name for literal decades, it had to be done.

2B was an old favorite of mine, her upgrades were quite disappointing I agree, especially after waiting so long for them.
@JB79 yeah! And she was SUCH a cool unit, overall. Fan favorite and had neat gimmick potential.
Now that you mentioned Frostbite, I think could be interesting having different ailments per element

The devs do have some favorites they like to use in certain elements over and over, I wouldn't mind more of it, I like the flavor it adds.
Water and Earth have been more CT based elements rather than status elements although each of them have a few.
Definate I am pulling for him. In JP he apparantly is a corner stone for the Summer Glacy and Gigamesh teams. Also the team of him and the new Lucy looks like a nasty combination.
Yep, Gilgamesh is Sword Red Mage, I tried to emphasize that in the video. Lucielle looks like a great support unit!
*Finishes awesome, comprehensive review of Sephiroth
*Proceeds to listen to pinned message to future self…
haha, well, maybe you don't need to...maybe you don't need to...
@@JB79 😂
Btw loved the little proc percentage graphic based on faith levels that you snuck in there 🥷
Very helpful!
Is there any way to obtain Vision Card shards from collaboration events after they end?
No, not until the events are rerun, which will take awhile.
All in, because I like katana units attack animation.
haha, I like it!
I don't have the second vision card for Sephiroth, got any other recommendations to fill it
Duane's Job VC, Winter Raviesse VC, Fire Oberon's VC, or 2P's VC are all decent choices
@@JB79 darn i don't have any of those
@@PhantomRaijin Just go for a plain old ATK % card then like Ifrit

Definitely a must pull unit for a Fire main - good luck!
Dark Ifrit is the hole in my cards, and man, it hurts...

Meant to ask you. Did you watch Advent Children Yet

Thought he's broken.. And seeing this video, specially with the tabulated effects now I'm sure..
Definitely tough to deal with so long as there is such little counterplay to curse. Once that is easier to handle I think he's still a good competitive bruiser, so he should have long legs in the game.
I got him at cost 100, I'm going to put him at level 99, I don't think he's interesting since I have cloud 140 which is the most important for me.
Congrats! Well at least you can probably get some use of the TMR! I would definitely keep him in the barracks to finish him off eventually, you may like to use him in the future!
I’d love to use him, but the amount of investment for him, as well as a team around him, is pretty high. It hurts my heart, but I have to skip him
Same :(
With our more limited foresight, and the increased cost of holo VC's I think that is the case for a lot of folks! At least there are a small handful of other competitive units at the moment!
I think his ceiling will be more around mixing other jobs like redmage or staff devout.
Just do 1 or two pulls you never now he might be easier than you think
I'll unfortunately have to pass. Cloud and the two other VCs have killed me. Pitied all 3. Still have slowly build tifas VC as I'm out of vis.
Oof, sorry to hear it, at least you're walking away with some good stuff.
Despite gumi/square going bonkers again with Sephiroth, i pass. I really don't like mirror matches, and I expect to see him EVERYWHERE. I will save my resources for Gilgamesh.
I honestly don’t think you’ll see him as much as you think. His team requires a lot of investment that most probably aren’t willing to do

Ill only have like 20k so unfortunately i might just skip this guy and save for gilgamesh.

i think they are nerfing FF units. look at cloud and lightning, they bare cant keep up. then look at WOTV orig units. fuck gumi
