@@diezombie6738 yeah, I never get tired watching Kobe. Man it sucks he's not here with us anymore. Still, in my eyes he's the greatest player to ever play the game. I grew up watching him play.
Perfected maybe but far from smoothest. His high set point prevented him from being an elite three point shooter. He has a slight pause in his shot too. Still incredible but his shooting form is a bit outdated.
@@DoctorJammer Child, learn the art of the mid range and the advantages to a high release point. Steph is waiting for his weekly schlobbing from you. Go check the tape, Kobe was assaulting Klay and Steph on a nightly basis.
I find it interesting that Kobe releases the ball with his index finger, despite the fact that he holds the ball with the "V" formation. Personally, I love his shooting form.
@@dickdad3297 Well if he was splitting before the injury he would have been using his ring and pinky finger. So he could have just changed it to index and middle if that were the case
I like how you explain his shooting form in small details which is excellent, I am going to examine this video repetitively and mimic most of Kobe Bryant's shot. Splash Lab thanks.
Great vid, I'm a Kobe fan and his form has always been more aesthetically pleasing than other players to me. One thing I think is worth mentioning is at the 1:20 mark when talking about his difficult shots. I suck at explaining but he uses his right leg as something like an anchor where he intentionally swings it to maintain balance. I do the same thing and it allows me to make very difficult shots. It comes naturally but if some people don't do it it may help.
He does this because his body is moving one direction, hence his leg sways; this counterbalances his body so that he can square to the basket and shoot.
i noticed that too and do the same thing. i’m obviously no kobe but i’m the ‘shot creator’ mid range guy when we go to the gym and i hit difficult shots pretty consistently. the leg swing is hella effective cuz you can use it as a guide for your hip elbow shoulder alignment and as a balancing agent like you said. his form is 🔥🔥🔥
Kyrie's shooting form is really similar as kobe's,but the differences are that the kyries elbow sticks out in the front on the right side and the ball is lower near the right eye. Reply if I am not right I hope I helped
Being a Kobe for almost 19 yrs. His shooting form is the most pleasing one to watch. Just very very smooth. And we all know Kobe is almost a carbon copy of MJ. Occasionally I do spot some differences between the two, but most of the time, they are almost identical. I'd love to see the same analysis on MJ, so we can see some subtle differences.
Daniel K I also started emulating Kobe Bryant's shot form. I am getting it down and consistently studying his shot, by watching this whole video 2x every day.
Jeremy Argha Thanks I got it down now my shot is now a 2 motion and more similar to Zach Lavine than Kobes. I put the ball right at my forehead not above it.
+TJ Not really. He's adjusted his shot to give him more space and easier to draw fouls. In Jordan's era, the rules were different. What would be considered a foul today wouldn't really be considered a foul back then.
It's way different Jordan has that Ray Allen follow through he doesn't really flick his wrist and he shoots from his chest Kobe as in this video the setpoint is his above head
Something I've always noticed about Kobe's shot that wasn't touched on here in the video is that at the end of his release, once the ball is out of his hands. His thumb and index finger touch, like if someone was grabbing a pinch of salt. I tried doing this and It really helped the accuracy of my shot.
Im inspired by Kobe🐐 probably more than anyone everything I do on the court I try to mirror it to Kobe. So much that I got his shooting form. And I animalize all of these videos to become a better player.
Great job man. One of the things you "missed" was that the shoulders going back adds arc to the shot (sweep and sway), and for me to find that as the only issue is nit-picking. Great video and breakdown man. Keep up the good work.
This video is really well done! I’m impressed. Thank you!! You break down each part of the shot well and found video to back up what you’re saying. Again… I’m impressed.
Hi Splash Lab! May I request a breakdown for Michael Jordan's shooting form? I am looking for so many months for someone to analyze MJ's form. I like the way on how you had analyzed Kobe's form and for me it's great! I hope that you can do it. Thanks a lot. I can't really wait to watch it!
hey Splash Lab, i was wondering if you could do a klay Thompson Shooting form Video? he has one of the best and prettiest shooting form ever and actually is a very good shooter... i would really love it! thank you.
his off hand is in a really weird position on the ball. he says that's his comfort spot, but when I try to do it, it hurts my wrist. His shot is really unique
Every time I see Mamba land predominantly on his left foot after a shot I can only think about the achilles tear that prematurely ended his career. Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant one of the greatest to ever do it.
+Splash Lab thank you so much for uploading this vid, this is the first vid I've seen from your channel and it goes into so much detail. It's helped me improve a lot and your channel deserves a LOT more attention than it has
I think you do a really good job analyzing. It seems to me that you get the most force on the ball when the follow through does not produce a stiff arm, rather, the elbow is slightly bent and the wrist flicks the ball more than the arm pushes it. I would like to see which players do that.
Kyrie Irving or Durant next plssss!!! P.S. You're awesoome!!! You go so much in details like no other. Thx and also the video with Curry equaly great as this one!
He's really got the prettiest shot, ever.
I agree
+Tommy Cruz His shot is considered nearly unstoppable because he jumps to his peak before he gets off a shot
his releasing point is higher than normal players making it so hard to block
One of the most smooth and perfected jumpshots in NBA.
Love that u watched and commented twice

The most beautiful shooting form.
Agreed
+Michael yeahh
Ray Allen
+slipknoterman true but the way kobe shoots is magical
Ray Ray all day
when i practiced this i became obsessed this shot is addicting..
His shooting form is just beautiful, even all the way to how he drops his arms after the release.
Makes me cry how beautiful this is.
time to practice...
agreed 👌

Yes we talking about practice 😂

He changed due to breaking his finger.
@@diezombie6738 to an index finger or from and what was his other release?
@@Jack51161 i heard that he used split finger instead of index originally, then middle finger after the injury

He basically emulated Michael Jordan’s shooting form.
Knowing that its 8 years ago, it is amazing and helpful
His form is so nice
Thank you Kobe Bryant 1996-2016 this is his playing career

Best shooting form break down I’ve ever seen. Coaches should be showing this video in camps and practice. Thanks for a great video.

It's really hard to mimic his shot but it's worth it if you do. Don't shoot threes with his form tho, only midrange and close to basket.

:47 I'll never forget Kobe making that big shot on Barnes with the jersey in the mouth. Kobes done Barnes good multiple times
Afrobe Bryant everything he does is beautiful
Pretty solid and detailed breakdown of Kobe's Jumpshot.
Really good shooting form.
Greatest form ever idc
Wow, that was by far the most in depth and also legitimate breakdown for a shooting form I've seen.
Big respect.

its better to use whatever you find comfortable and train that
Study the sweep and sway to get more arc. Kobe shot is 2 motion, so does Ray Allen cus they jump very high.
