  • At the very beginning of my career I worked inside a NOC as a Network Engineer. It gave me tons of exposure in the field working on large networks, learning to configure monitoring, and in-depth troubleshooting on level 2 and 3. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to a pursue a career in the field of Networks.

    Hey man, this content is still gold in 2023. I am looking to transition out of a L1 role with a software company and I really like networking. Currently sitting for my CCNA and looking for more day to day vids on NOC engineers. It's not as trendy as Cyber or Cloud stuff right now so the content on YT is far more sparse so when I get good stuff like this it's super helpful. Please keep it up.

      You are on the right path. CCNA will be your first step into the NOC. That is exactly how I started my career. How you level up from there onwards will be determined by your will and drive. Key is to never settle and keep a growth mindset. Continuously stay involved in learning new technology trends to keep yourself relevant in the market. This way you are putting yourself in a unique spot and demand any salary you wish.

      Systems Engineers definition vary because they can also be considered part of sales team and is more of a diverse role where NOC is dedicated.

    is it possible to get a NOC job from being a service desk? I passed the CCNA back in 2014 and unfortunately, it already expired after 3 years without me being able to take advantage of it due to a life changing circumstance. I'm trying to start somewhere and my dream is to be able to have a career that involves network administration, or troubleshooting network connectivity for companies. Would you say that I'd need to retake the CCNA certification once again before I could have a chance to be able to get such job?

    • @AliMKRaja
      @AliMKRaja  2 года назад +5

      Advice:
      Anything is possible. My first professional job was working in Desktop Support. Just have the drive and stay persistent. Don't focus too much on certifications. It's what you know will get you the job. CCNA will certainly help you get in the door a bit easier.

    I somehow landed a NOC Engineer job as a fresh graduate. I don’t have CCNA and I’m worried I’d feel lost doing this job. I had to accept this job as well, it was this or unemployment. Any ideas how I can prepare for it or learn everything necessary for the job?

    • @zainghani7116

      I have no experience in a NOC, I am trying to get in myself, If you got any tips I would be open to it. If I was in your position I would get to know the monitoring tool they use in the company and get really good at it, plus if you need CCNA or networking information I highly recommend Jeremy's IT Lab on youtube, I went through all his videos and all of the packet tracer demonstrations and practiced took notes and reviewed them and took the test and passed first time. The performance based answers on the test are hard but I think you could fail the performance based and still pass if you do good on the other questions which is probably what happened with me

      Update: After I got the first job offer, I got a second one as Network Engineer. (Same company.) Although I was hired as a Network Engineer, my actual job will be as a NOC Engineer, still a JR though. At first, I was overwhelmed. There a lot of things to learn, a lot of routine stuff, a lot of non planned issues occur but I made sure that I tried to be as hands on as possible, learning as much as I can and getting help a lot from my seniors when I need it. And now only two months on the job, just TWO MONTHS, I’ve become extremely proficient on the job and I now know it very well and can execute my duties with relative ease, even on busy days, I now manage to go through them without being overwhelmed. Tasks that I found very difficult before are now very easy. An advise to all, don’t be scared when starting a new job, I was terrified when I started this and felt like an imposter. But in a very short amount of time I learned a lot and now I can be a dependable employee. My Seniors say that I learned much faster than anyone else on the JR roster, so the speed in which you can learn depends upon your learning speed. Also, there is A LOT of free time when you don’t have complaints nor scheduled work, so you can use that time as you like. I use it to study and hopefully get some professional certifications. Good luck to everyone. 👍

    Do Noc Engineer have Future.. like its useful for 2030 ?? or ROADMAP .. wht to do after getting 1-2 yrs experience in NoC ..

    • @AliMKRaja
      @AliMKRaja  2 года назад

      They have a very bright future. MSPs are middlemen, most companies dont want to deal with managing it hand it off to professionals who do it well. Thats where ur MSP comes in. Not everyone want to use their Cloud vendor to manager cuz they r very costly.
      Personally, I did 5 years at the NOC then started working with Integrators doing Deployments and once I excelled at that. I moved up towards architecture. I’ve been doing that for past 10 years for Infrastructure/Network/DC/UC. But not every engineer makes a good architect or even enjoys it. People who want to stay hands on or highly technical stay on Deployment or NOC side
      Hope this helps!!!!

      You should rise to the top tier so you get the most exposure in troubleshooting. I would then switch companies and move into a deployment engineer role as I did and finally get into designing and architecture.
