No. It in no way has an affect on the amp. I would recommend having the settings correct on amp as always. I’ve had an epicenter for 5 years. It stopped working one day and I took subs out until I got another one. I won’t have a system without it.
Been wanting to install one of these. I was wondering if i could use the sub out if my head units LPF was turned off. Also will this cause any distortion or clipping, if used with non bass heavy songs? I've seen some videos where people state that if the system doesn't need any bass restoration the epicenter wont activate so you don't have to mess with the knob too much.
If you can feed it a signal of up to 1,000Hz it should work fine. Any bass boosting device has the potential to clip the input signal as well as the amps output. This is where you need to set your amp gains properly and also just don't drive your subs past their excursion limits. Your sub and amp can only put out so much bass, don't force it to play more. If you keep things under control you should be fine.
If you're going from your head unit to an EQ the bass restoration should be the first thing the head unit sees... Then to the EQ and / or crossover cuz this thing boost up your signal-to-noise ratio and it makes your head unit sounds better
