Thanks for watching yall! Here’s the methodology used to make the mod.
I decided on a benchmark character that the whole rest of the cast would revolve around as a reference; that character is marth. Marth is 5’8” (172cm) tall in Fire Emblem and he is that size in smash bros. His model was not touched.
Now that we established his height, I needed a way to measure him through smash. The way i did that was through the training mode stage, which has square units all throughout. I found that way that marth was roughly 18.05 units tall
So now that we know 68 inches = 18.05 smash units, we can solve the height for the rest of the cast. All we would need to do is find their canon height and their ingame smash units.
For smash units it was simple, just tedious- had to estimate as best i could for some of them since very few characters in the game stand up straight lol
But for canon height it was a little tricky.. Like i said in the vid, for many characters it is not confirmed and so speculation is involved. I did my best in researching and using other people’s past research of smash ult character heights (many of which conflicted with each other). Didn’t obsess the details too much and just did what i thought reasonable

He is just so weird like some of the smaller characters here are just so tiny they're hard to hit they're hitbox is just tiny you could either be so big you stomp them out and they barely move the centimeter when they run a kilometer to their scale or they're like the size of carpet Kirby and one foot and they just duck under every hit instead of just being microscopic
Seeing a tiny Kirby and a giant Luma makes me incredibly happy

Kirby’s height actually got retconned in modern titles, he’s actually bigger in Forgotten Land, seeing a 90cm or 190cm Kirby is terrifying

You mean his world is huge? Most NPCs and objects are much bigger than him
He might be a bit shorter, an average adult grizzly bear stands at 9 feet, but there's an argument to say he's not fully grown yet being a teenager. The average length of a banjo is... well there's a couple sizes but they usually average about 27 inches, or just over 2 feet. So unless he got one custom made (also possible) he would have to be around 5-6 feet to present playing a banjo normally.

Ridley is a.. weird case of height. In the First Metroid he is just a bit taller then Samus, yet in the remake Zero Mission Ridley is suddenly like over double Samus height.. either way mega cool video!

Bowser is kinda similar although still more consistent with his height. In the original 2d games he was barely taller than Mario, but he’s much bigger in mario 64. Of course he can also be the size of Godzilla in certain games, but those aren’t very representative of his normal height.
Even in the same game, his size is inconsistent. In Metroid Prime 3, you face him twice. The first time, he's big enough to swallow Samus. The second time, he's smaller. I think it's his Super Metroid size in this video
I ran into a similar issue with Dedede. In games like Kirby's Dream Land and Return to Dream Land, he's not much taller than Kirby, but in games like Super Star and Squeak Squad, he's about 3 times taller. It's weird.

Mario in Super Mario Galaxy was made smaller so that he would fit in a spherical hitbox, which they had to start using so that their new gravity systems would work right. Jasper has a really good video about it.
That sounds very similar to how Mario is supposedly chubby because the creators of the Donkey Kong arcade games wanted him to be roughly box-shaped for collision detection. Guess some things never change.

0:09 Ridley is actually the only character with correct canon size because he’s not from any Metroid game. He’s a new version of Ridley made specifically for Smash.
Same can be said for every character in this game.
Smash isn't canon, and with your logic every character will have the correct height because Sakurai said so.

Yeah, Ridley's design in Smash is not straight from one of the games (Though it's PRETTY close to his Super Metroid sprite), but that criteria still applies to a lot of characters in the game to varying degrees.
Like Bowser's design in Smash isn't pulled directly from any particular game. Like Ridley, he's just got most of the recognizable features, but has a few tweaks to look more fierce or realistic or capable of doing all the things a fighter in Smash is supposed to do.
I like this, because Pichu's size was actually important to balancing, because Pichu was so small that his self damaging actually wasn't enough to offset the size and speed he had, so they kept making him bigger. I don't know if they ended up making Pichu unironically bigger than Pikachu.

I was skeptical on how well the sizes actually scaled, but ROB really made it clear how off the scaling is. I've seen ROB irl and there is no chance in hell it would look that small compared to someone nearly 4 feet tall
Yeah, the mod maker probably picked random scaling factors and called it a day.
I have a feeling the mod maker just assumed the base height for all characters was the same and used a single scaling, rather than accounting for the fact the characters in the game are already different sizes.

Fun fact. According to kirby and the forgotten lands, kirby is actually 2 ft tall. The same result you get when measuring him against Samus in Kirby's dreamland 3

The measurements in Kirby's world are all wack anyways. Light-years being used for sml planetoids which would make them larger than solar systems for the meteor baseball minigame, megatons being needed to crack the whole planet, and 999 meters being the depth needed to reach the other side of the planet.

Smash with canon sizes needs to be it's own game.
Or just a settings feature that we can toggle canon sizes on and off when setting up a match, so if someone wanted to they could use canon sizes for their character while someone else chooses not to use it

He's taller than the child though, and a 10 year old child is typically 50-59 inches compared to Lucario's official 47. So there is a bit of a disparity

@@EmperorZ19 That's because there's *_size varience_* in Pokémon, that Lucario that he showed is simply _larger_ than the *average* 3'11 Lucario. Alpha Pokémon for instance are practically *_Twice_* the average size.
@@LittleSylveon Way before that actually, as far back as gen 3 (the original Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire) there was size variation in each species. There are actually even a couple of trainers in gen 3 that want you to catch one size extreme or the other of certain pokemon and reward you rather handsomely if you can present a specimen that meets their criteria. I think the size variation in gen 3 might have actually been more extreme than what we see in Arceus; using Gardevoir as an example, gen 3 let Gardevoir be as short as 94cm or as tall as 233cm, while Gardevoir in Arceus only got as short as 128cm and even including alphas they only got as tall as 256 cm.
Some of these guys are definitely smaller than they should be (like pichu being 1 foot but barely being above kazuyas ankles) but it's a great concept with a lot of effort put in and I applaud that
Mario's a lot taller. Doing the math compared to New Donkers, he should be around Sonic's height.

its mainly cus everyone has varying proportions irrelevant to any other character unless theyre part of the same universe. ie Bayonetta is around 9 to 11 Heads tall which puts her at more than 6'10ft in reality. her legs are very long too.
Wolf who is also around her height, is 4 to 5 1/2 heads tall, which is the proportions of a *child* so he's technically the the size of a giant child, in reakity his head height would put him closer to Ness' height who is 3-4 heads tall.
If Bayo was in StarFox's universe and made to BE apart of that world, she'd also be around 5 heads tall proportionally. Her head expanded, and her legs and arms shortened ect but would still be designed in a way to make her taller than Wolf.
(i chose Bayonetta cus her proportions are INSANE, despite her realistic artstyle. Samus has this same principle and she is closer to Wolf's height, her proportiins are longer than his making her look taller. )

We do have the Eiffel tower as a comparison, which puts them in around human height. (ingame lore bits may be misleading because some of them are based on speculation by squid scientists: the visual history of evolution of squids was retconned in Splatoon 3 with the alterna files showing the presumably true history of Splatoon.)

Red was like 12, which is also true of most of the protags after him, and in later games we had outright confirmed teenagers, with X and Y's even being suggested to be as old as 18 or 19. The closest to actually 10 the main character has ever been is Sun and Moon, which featured protags who were said to have just turned 11.
