Yes, I should have been more clear. The SL65 you got is the new 2013-2014 version. I was referring to the older 2010-2011 version which only comes in black as a hardtop. Same goes for the SL63 which I show in the video. Thank you for pointing out this confusion. I will supply links in the description to show the difference between the two versions. Thanks again.
Yup, now's the time of year where they start appearing in all the big box stores. I went to BJs for the first time a few weeks ago only to find the place filled with Motormax and Maisto cars for amazingly cheap prices.
To really do a true comparison you need to compare the same car from both editions. Of coarse that would require buying another Porsche Carrera GT in Special Edition though. Might be worth it since that car looks awesome in Black. It is even worthy of sitting next to my Autoart and Hot Wheels Elite models. That is until you take a real close look at it and it becomes a Maisto again
You are correct in that the SL65 is sold as both a Special and Premiere edition, further proving my point that the difference between the two editions is a very grey line. I wonder if Maisto got some complaints about the car, considering that it had an incorrect engine and Identical detail to the special edition car.
That's odd. I bought a Maisto Mercedes SL65 AMG as a SPECIAL Edition in Costco, not as a Premiere Edition. I checked eBay and the SL65 AMG's are indeed sold as a Premiere. Exactly the same car except for the bigger box on the Premiere and the nameplate designs are different. I can send some pictures as proof.
Does it have anything to do with the price of the 1:1 cars? for instance, are the premier models only of high-end 1:1 supercars and Special edition models for "everyday" or "normal" cars?
The charcoal grey Maisto SL 65 AMG I got recently, looks nowhere like your white SL 63. The front grill and entire front fascia on my SL 65 AMG is more upright, and the side vents have a different design. Different hood design. Also, the taillights on your SL 63 do not look like the SL 65 AMGs at all. So I have to disagree that your white SL 63 looks exactly like the SL 65 AMG. You could find pics of the Maisto SL 65 AMG on eBay for reference.
You can never go wrong with Maisto. I've been buying them for years. Great Company.
I have always wondered the difference between the two, really like your videos ;) keep up the great work

Thanks for the review man, your opinions are really helpful, keep it up !
Thanks for the support. I'm happy to hear it:)
I will be heading to Costco today. Last time I went, they had a few 1/18 Porsche Carrera GTs in red and silver and a ton of 1998 F-150 Lightnings.

It may be possible that the licensing costs are higher for the SL65 than the Sl63. If that was the case than your assumption would be correct.
The Special and Premiere editions cost $13 US at the local HEB grocery stores here...HEB stores are only in Texas
nice review.... I got the Intex/Maisto Lambo Diablo, and BMW 850i, my first two when I was 5 lol.
I have plenty of cop cars, all the ford trucks I have, I have reviewed. If you can find a 1/18 or similar semi let me know, I'd love to buy it.
Very helpful vid...thanks!
63s have v8s, 65s have v12s for any of the vehicles

I got a special edition version of a 1 off lamborghini so i dont think so
The logo on the front left rim was sticking out.
Strange, my Ford GT90 Special Edition by MAISTO has a name plate on it.

Are Maistos cheaper in USA? I bought the porsche for 70 sgd ( 55.24 USD )
Yes. I can usually purchase them for around $25 each. Sometimes at wholesale club stores they can be as low as $13 (USD)
Too bad. Singapore's vehicles are so much more expensive then other countries, even for model diecast cars...
I got a Maisto special edition for 11 dollars!
are these cars good for rough playing
josh armitage I would not play with these, or give to a small child. Parts can break off. These are for collecting, not really playing.
where are you from? i like how you talk
Southeastern Massachusetts
I get my Miastos for $15
