Phil wrote good lyrics together with Those guitar harmonies and tight drums from Brain Downey Thin Lizzy would become bigger if it wasn’t for those tragic things that happened before big USA tour ( hepatitis etc

I'm 28 and I'm thrilled to see I'm not the only youngster that knows lizzy is the best lol. Check out their stuff with Eric bell back when they were a 3 piece. It's all great from the first album to their last

Huey Lewis talked Phil into kicking it up an octave or two on this song. This man had more talent in his pinky finger than all of todays studio artists combined. That's The News playing backup and harmonies.

Indeed. Lewis wanted Phil to sing in a higher register than normal during the short-lived American sessions.

This song was recorded after Phil done Out in the Fields with Gary Moore - it shows he had a great range and was well able for different styles . This song would have done very well if released . RIP Philip .. A True Rock Legend !

On the 70s Lizzy albums he could really hit amazing high notes ("Sweet Marie", "Old Flame" and others). The drugs and bad health messed up his voice in the end (always sounded like he had a cold).

    Oh
    No no no
You know, the thing that really cuts me up
Is that you really never cared for me at all
But some people say justice is rough
    They'll never know how
    Girl I am lonely
    Living on my own
    Wondering what I'm doing
    It just don't stand up
    Girl I am lonely
    Wishing you would call
    Anything at all
    I can't understand it
    Girl you never phone me
    And you're never home
    (Can't get away)
Loving you the way I do
    (Hearing you say)
    Girl you know it's true
    (Can't get away)
Loving you the way I do
    Guess who's sorry now
    Baby take a bow
    I just can't stand it
    Girl, you have broke me
If I had a second chance
Then things were like we planned
    I'd never be lonely
Girl, you have shown me, don't go
    (Can't get away)
Girl you know I love you
    (Hearing you say)
    It's tearing at my heart
    (Can't get away)
Loving you the way I do
    Oh baby
    Still miss you
    You know the thing is
    Now that you're gone
    And I'm living all alone
    I wonder why
    Can't get away
    I can't get away
    No
    Can't get away
    Oh baby
    Oh
    Can't get away

    • @powerage17
      @powerage17 3 года назад +6

Yes its all of the News band..
Huey who Phil helped and mentored in the mid 70's who actually plays harmonica on Thin Lizzy Baby drive me crazy off of Live and Dangerous...
Anyway Huey had invited Phil out to LA which is where this is recorded. He convinced Phil to go back to singing at a higher tone as he did in his early days. Huey felt he could still do it and push Phil in the recording studio to achieve that tone. Huey didn't like the lower tones that Phil was singing.
      They recorded three songs.
