Never cut water or sodium for decades they called me crazy. I figured it out at a young age. I always looked better after my weekend eating after a show. so I just did that before the show :) Great info.
Yup. Competitors that are dehydrating while simultaneously trying to "fill out" are all too common. These coaches are sending their clients to the hospital...
Perfect timing! 1 week out as of tomorrow.
Whit Hartman me too Bro
Marius S best of luck! Where are you competing?
How did this work for you???
Me too
All 100% quality prep-week information for nattys; don't do anything super dramatic nutrition-wise and accept that you'll already look 95% of your stage potential several days out. I think the reason why we believe in such drastic dietary changes in water, sodium, and carb intake during prep week is because of how open bodybuilders on gear prep. In their case, water, sodium, and carb intake does go through drastic changes as the various amounts of drugs they utilize in prep-week dramatically impacts bodily homeostasis.
Wild how much this channel changed in 4 years.
Useful information! Currently jst over 10 weeks out and this is very helpful! Thanks dude!
The best thing you can do for peak week is be peeled as fuck a week before and then you don't have to worry about anything.
Sounds like the best advice I've heard so far... Thx 💪🏽👍🏽
I like what u r saying cause everything u said I made that mistake on my first prep...lol so u know what your talking about. Keep up the good WORK Bro!!
Thanks, I think you just saved me for Saturday the man lane! Straight facts the real deal man! I was going to change so much just some carbs and keep the rest the same!!
So what are the kind of carbs/meals you should be eating to carb up 24 hours before the show?
Right???🤔🤔🤔
Sorry if I'm late but usually carbs that your body absorbs better
Dry carbs bro
Dry carba won't make u bloat
This was SO helpful! Thank you!
Makes a lot of sens. Thanks a lot Layne for an other great vidéo 🙏🙏
If I’m not cutting for a show just cutting to look ripped for summer - should I increase sodium and keep drinking lots of water to look vascular ?
Very useful.. thank you..
Hello Layne. I think it will be a banger if you and Dave Palumbo debate on some topics. He is also very informative. But one thing I can say is he has a different principle than you but that works too.
Excellent advice!
the calorie intake in the peak week should stay the same as the previous calorie intake we had been consuming?
I'm ready to suffer for my first bodybuilding contest hahaha
I'm going to remember this information when I decide to compete one day! Layne, do you happen to have a link or way of reading more about that Harvard study on sodium that you referenced?
Make a video of Nutrition choice, amount of water intake etc on peak week please
Yeah that was awesome
Thanks this is very informative. I am prepping for my first show 32 weeks out now, I have been using keto recently and plan to stick to it throughout my prep. any tips on what someone who uses keto can do during peak week in order to ensure the muscles look full?
Did you found a good answer to this question? I'm in the same situation.
What's your thoughts on having a sushi buffet a day or two before the show ? I know On the day just rice cakes is good
Did my first show but felt very flat could not get a pump
awsome video man!!
Your the fuck best, and your knowledge is mad. I'm competing for the first time by myself with the assistance of your books. I've been prepping for 20 weeks and lost 30lbs and gain muscle; 30% bf to 20. I'm still holding fat in the lower body, but I have 12 days until show day. Regardless your shit is top of the line, and thank you for being you.
Thank you!
Great video!!
What are these small tweaks You talk about at 10:20?
thanks layne
Straight fire
Can muscles fill up with glycogen without water?
can you make a video of cutting for a Powerlifter meet?
good idea
It never made sense to me for people cutting water. That is what the muscles are mostly made up of. Seems like common sense? Seems like great advice to me to NOT cut water. It also seems like it is used as an excuse for just being too fat...I was holding water. I was flat and needed more carbs (where you just too fat or do something stupid like cut water?)...
Ya don't get why week of dehydration would be necessary
Ayye two weeks out tomorrow
How do you define a low sodium diet? What do you recommend daily sodium intake should be for a woman that trains 6x/week?
That usually depends on your baseline. If I am consuming 2000 mg of sodium on my normal days than 1500 mg would be low sodium diet for me. But never go low sodium because you become more sodium sensitive.
Perfection !
hey doc im 2 days out of my comp my trainer had said no soidum and no water i feel so down at the moment this is my first comp please help me out 😐
Layne, Whatever happend to Jim cordova? I know u are friends with him.Great vid btw
Very nice videos!
Do you have any experience building up fighters to go up a weight class?
+A. B. Camma some yes
Did it over the weekend made me look like some who just worked out after show i drank water and ate fries and looked like i could win the over alls🥲
Dude I’m a day out in hell over water drop and sodium and I’ve been PREACHING this shit for two days makes all the sense in the world. HOMEOSTASIS not bro science.
A coach with a brain. Rare.
Dude work on explaining things, u always hunt for what to say. Get better at speaking, u stumble through and at the end most viewers are saying what in the world did he just say
This video is super similar to Jeff's
ruclips.net/video/P98AM29NjsM/видео.html
I coached Jeff a long time ago. He also follows evidence based principles. It would make sense that we say similiar things. But check the video tapes bud, I've been saying it since 2005
First
tomed73 im so fucken happy for you bro, oh my god, i just cant beleive it. Like its impossible. Far out. Fukkken craaazzzy man. Good job. Bro.
Is creatine used during peak week????
Saved my ass man, did low sodium for afew days and sumn just didn’t feel right
Perfect dude
You are 100 percent right
All the cutting water and carbs is so wrong
what is the best thing to eat on show day
👍 all true science, best way is to see how an individual reacts to certain principles...some might react a Little differently .... so coach tweaks it.. a Mr. Olympia friend of mine for a decade reduces sodium by 70% three days out and it works well for him... for some other people it’s one day out.. every one reacts a little different to the best most executed science
So basically, week ahead of your big day, cut out fiber, Keep hydrating and getting plenty of salt
Just saw this video and I have to say I 100% disagree with u but I'm not surprised, I disagree with u on a lot of issues. Dont cut sodium and water on show day or night before, never heard of this. Ur textbooks dont relate to real world. Did Arnold have trouble getting a pump? Not at all, Man u try to change all beliefs, not cool. Dave Palumbo embarrassed u, and I even felt sorry for u on that video. Old School left u speechless.
What are examples of the low fiber calorie dense carbs to eat the 2 days before a show????
What a stupid analogy.
Dead muscle tissue, meat, is still made up primarily of water, but is soft because it is dead, and therefore as relaxed as it can be!
You are seriously the man Layne. I am a kines grad and competing in June. THANK YOU for this info. I do not take it for granted.
thank you! great Video!!
Who the fuck is this?
Ew body building
