That Jumpscare at 19:08 was absolutely perfec in execution. The long calmness, the setup of the door opening drawing you closer, the writing on the wall really making you get close to see what it says, and then the scare. Absolutely beautiful.

With her saying she was killed, I have two thoughts: 1) Even with closure, she still feels the critics drove her to end her own life. 2) The doctor. The pills. They’re making it worse.
@@JustDiptych I figured it was either gonna be the doctor, or the son himself, driven mad by her constantly ringing a bell. But yeah, Doctor seems most likely
And the problems run through the family it seems, either herreditary or due to enviroment- her son seems to be facing similar mental problems as his mother. He even is visiting the same doctor as her, at least the ending implies that.
The son could work, but the problem is his own mental addiction that drowns out his mom's problem. So, less practical but more understandable the Doctor for their delusional medical malpractice on her. Testing new meds is okay, but not on the public with said meds in BETA-Phase!?
This game is absolutely terrifying. I'm glad you played it, the experience is completely crazy from begining to end. The atmosphere is incredible from the tight corridor in the begining and the uncanny sight from the windows, to the way the darkness creeps slowly into the apartment... and every sight of Marcy... it's still a personal favorite.
I’m developing a horror game and your commentaries/breakdowns of horror games and scares are so helpful! I love the content I watch it before going to bed lol.

Been scrolling while I watch and at first I agreed with all the "it's P.T. but worse" comments. But I think those commenters stopped watching too soon. This game doesn't have one looping downward spiral. It has a large apartment to explore, the first area of which contains some cosmetic similarities to P.T.. If you put the table somewhere else, restructured the balconies, and used a round window, nothing meaningful would change about this game. The story is different as well. If you watch for another 10 minutes...it's not ripping off P.T., it's making a heavy-handed visual reference.
Now I had stopped watching you tube gameplay videos with commentaries long back as I started finding it really annoying and cringe worthy. But something about the ways this person comments and brings about a calm and sophisticated atmosphere is what makes me keep coming back!

Hey man! found your channel a bit ago ( from the gmod liminal space maps ) I have been thoroughly enjoying your content mostly on a 2nd monitor but I still have pretty much consistently been binging your content since you have a really chill approach and the way you explain things is very interesting, keep making content and I hope you reach 100k soon and maybe even higher, have a good day!
The demonic head-twitch at 24:55 is likely an homage to Jacob's Ladder, which accomplished the effect by shooting the actors at a very low framerate, then speeding up the footage the match the framerate of the surrounding footage. If the effect looks familiar, it has been mimicked by many horror games, most notably in Silent Hill 3 and 4.
This is one of the very few videos where I HAD to take breaks as I'm watching through the whole thing. The tension in the game is so thick that I didn't think that I could watch it non stop in one sitting. That's a great game right there. And as for the grammatical issues: Im glad you managed to get us immersed in spite of that. The gameplay and atmosphere really makes up for the jank in the translation, and I hope this becomes one of those classic horror games in the future!
Throughout the whole video I was wondering how much a place like this costs and what madman designed it lol But i love that they use the same trick paranormal activity uses: the loud, low frequency sound that gets louder as you get towards something more unnatural happening. it's a nice addition in the game, kinda forces you to feel uneasy. But I bet it would work without it, I mean this reminds me of PT very much and that doesn't use these sounds. Enjoyed watching and hearing you get scared lol
19:00 i also got scared so much my mouse reacted too and just automatically hit the button to go back a page also is that the first time he has sworn (kind of)
What I like about the jumpscares in this game is: 1.) The suite really builds up the atmosphere and makes you tense even without the scares yet 2.) The game is smart in knowing what the player would expect and the jumpscares aren't always where you'd expect them to be 3.) And the most important bit: the jumpscares aren't just flash pop ooga booga suddenly appear in front of your screen. There is actually smooth movement by the monster which makes the scares so much more real!
I highly recomend you play more games by this developer. All of them use the quiet and enviroment to make you feel unease and fear. Their latest game is set in mines btw. Also all of their games have a couple endings depending on how deep you search the enviroment.
that "no emotion tied to a human sound" it reminded me of sickness, because it sounded like breathing problems. And P.T. was my first association when you started the game.
I love the feeling of dread that the very low frequencies of the ambient sounds cause. Especially when i'm using a subwoofer that really gets it to rumble. Kind of surprised that not a lot of horror games do that with the ambience.
I get that they want to make the game claustrophobic to enhance the sense of danger and make it feel creepier, but there comes a point where it stops being frightening and becomes almost comical. That hallway is barely big enough for one person, if another person started coming down the hallway towards you one of you would have to press your back to the wall to let the other pass, it's just funny to think about.
@@speedslider3913 Again, I totally understand that, but after awhile it passes a threshold and becomes funny rather than scary. The whole time instead of thinking about whatever ghost or monster was going to pop out at me I was amused by the idea of them throwing a house party or trying to get furniture into their home.
@@speedslider3913 actually you're wrong. There is such a thing as FIRE CODES that ALL BUILDINGS must adhere to. @@sonyabladesbooty3890 Does non-euclidean architecture fit anywhere into that fire code? Like, I don't know, are the rules written in such a way that it doesn't matter whether a building is euclidean in nature or not, or are there rules that strictly adhere to, or depend upon, euclidean reality? How does an architect even get a non-euclidean building like this built? Did she hire Deep Ones from below the ocean, that were involved in the construction of R'lyeh, to build the house for her? Did she perform satanic rituals to alter the form of the building after it had been built? Did she get Aperture Science to install permanent portals to make it seem as though it were non-euclidean when really it's just connected with invisible portals? It seems kind of strange to me that this was somehow built when she is merely an architect and not, say, a construction engineer who can actually be present and direct builders to construct the building directly.
