Fisher men’s rib is a yarn eater so are as far as that goes it depends on the stitch size of needles and hooks and the stitch pattern

Wow! Thanks for doing this experiment. I always thought knit took less and weighed less than crochet. But you proved that all wrong. And your explanation certainly made sense. Thanks again

Lots of contributing factors as to which uses more, sometimes knitting will, others crochet will

Maybe try stockinette stitch vs. single crochet or the crochet equivalent to stockinette? I've knit washcloths and crocheted some and in that instance it seemed the crocheted counterpart used more yarn. I made them as gifts or I would be weighing them right now! LOL. Now I think I need to make some more just to see.

I’m surprised. I don’t know why I thought crochet used more yarn. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am completely shocked!!! I like your “scientific” method for making this determination. ☺️
I am guessing that a garter stitch swatch would use less yarn. 🤔

Just found your channel . Love it.
In this circumstance, I would use the same length of yarn and do a similar swatch to see which goes further. I was totally on the crochet being more yarn consuming. I'm mind blown. Almost makes me want to frog the chunky throw. I just knitted and crochet it. Thanks for the fun video.

I enjoyed your experiment a lot! I had always thought that crochet used more yarn than knitting😲 The reason I thought this was when I would crochet I would run out of yarn in my fingers faster than when I was knitting. Thank you, very much for do inspiration mg this experiment 😃😊

I have crocheted for decades but only took up knitting in the last 2 years. Friends in the local craft group told me crochet took about a third more yarn. I usually allow 5 or 6 x 100g yarn for a sweater or cardigan in crochet. I'm surprised to find that knitting patterns call for the same amount of yarn for similar sized garments.

Brilliant, you could perhaps do something similar with variegated wool, i.e. length of color run ?..

Knitting 🧶 takes longer than crochet 🧶, depends on the yarn (eater) stitches used a specific pattern a factor, types of needles or hooks. Mmmmmmm 🤔

I knit and crochet. A better stitch comparison would be to use single crochet ribbed stitch and a knit ribbed stitch.

I feel like crocheting uses more yarn than knitting because it usually depends on the tension.
