    Papst is German made. Called an Aussenlaufmotor. Outer armature. Older Grundig reel to reel tape recorders had similar motors too.

    Ooo, cool motor! Papst makes very good quality stuff!

    this type of motor is called outrunner because outside part is spinning
    there is other type of motor and its called inrunner..... you can probably guess witch part is spinning in that motor :D

    There is a lot of *torque* on the output shaft. Power can't be any more than what the motor is putting in. It would be slightly less due to losses in the mechanism.

    Cool motor and gear box. I would think of the gear box as a mechanical transformer. The power going in and out will the same(-losses) although the voltages and current may be different.

    We tend to call these 'spinner motors' in the fan collector circles

    around 2 Amps at around 115volts is around 230 watts of mechanical power without losses, what translates to about 0,3 hp...

    it is a brushless motor, I work with them every day... now imagine a stack of quarters is the size of the motor, and that has a kv of 1000, that has a 3hp equivalent. now imagine that on that motor

    It looks like a giant brushless out runner motor

    you should torture a car alternator. let's see how much abuse it can take or what it can power

    That's how ceiling fan motors are built... Made for relatively low speed, high torque. I've never seen one quite like that though.

      Yea imagine if a ceiling fan was powered by this motor think of how fast it would go lol.

    • @prizedcoffeecup
      @prizedcoffeecup 9 лет назад

      +HL4EHalfLife Not very fast unless it were geared up, but I'd be concerned about damaging the blade assembly or any cranks other than the motor's own even at 1:1 ratio.

      +Sergej Nadaždin The only way I've ever found to really fix up a ceiling fan is to *GENTLY* twist the blade irons to a deeper pitch. Move it like two degrees at a time, test the fan, repeat as needed. Unless the fan is an old Hunter Original or otherwise equipped with waaaay too much torque, you will reach a point of diminishing returns as you just bog down the motor. At that point, just back off and call it a day

    I can't really get my head around the advantage of this type motor in this machine? ceiling fan I get and even the plane engine with a stationary crankshaft and the whole motor spins for cooling is well, still weird but understandable, why here?
