    Just started watching your channel, really enjoyable and your ever to old to learn new tricks.
    Any reason why you choose a Scotty downrigger over a Canon and Doo you find the Scotty.

    Use some light setup for base experience for fast jingging. You can save your stamina. I use rod pe 0.8-2 and small bait caster reel daiwa saltiga bj 200shl with high ratio that give more speed you can feel how smooth it was and it will be more easy for fast jingging. Only use 20lb high quality braid x8 for main line and 20 lb full 100 fluorocarbon leader.

    Dave, cracking video as always mate. Looks like you had a cracking bite period around the tide change. Do you have a video on how to set up your livie rig with the treble, basically how to snell them?? I don’t recall it in the AMT’s video. Cheers legend, can’t wait to get up your way again soon once the rain clear 😊🙏

    • @SoloAngler
      @SoloAngler  2 года назад +1

      Hey Mark. Thanks for the feedback. In the AMT vid I go through the rig in detail. I use 55lb or 69lb single strand wire and Haywire twist it to the treble and then to the 5/0 hook. Then same again from 5/0 hook to swivel. In this video I'm experimenting with Nylon Coated Multistrand wire and crimps. Exact same principle. Sometimes I hook the treble in the head and hook behind dorsal so that the fish swims downwards.

    Cracking video mate! New sub. What reel size are you running and mainline? Also what Demond Blood is that?

    • @SoloAngler
      @SoloAngler  Год назад +1

      The Demon Blood is a 6ft2 PE3 and the reel is a Daiwa Saltist 4500 with 50lb braid and 40lb leader.

    Great fishing.
    Is there a video on how you have set your chart plotter and depth sounder. I plan fish in the Cayman Islands where depths are 1000 feet or more a mere 1000 meters from shore.any suggestions .

    • @SoloAngler
      @SoloAngler  2 года назад

      Every sounder is different but for depths of 300 feet or more you should use 50khz. It's a narrower cone and will give better bottom detail at depth.

    So when Spanish mackerel get bigger they lose there yellow spots? And the mackerel you call spotty is it a cero mackerel? Very cool video bro just found your channel and subscribed I want to do this so bad 💯✌🏾👊🏽

    Dave, can you tell us what gear you are using to catch these big mac's

    • @SoloAngler
      @SoloAngler  Год назад

      Sorry about the delayed reply. Had message notifications switched off. For the bigger fish I am using a few different rigs depending on the techniques. For fast jigging I am using a Daiwa Demon Blood 6ft2 PE 3 Rod with a Daiwa Saltist 4500 reel with 40lb braid and 40lb leader. The live bait rig is a Daiwa Saltist 7ft2 PE3-4 rod with Daiwa Saltist LTD 5000 reel with 50lb braid and 60lb leader.

    This doesn't work offshore from Yeppoon. We don't have many mackerel up here, and the only thing that works is very well presented swimming dead baits, or live baits. Anything else, especially using lures is just a complete waste of time and money.
