      Over thanksgiving weekend Disney + is going to release a three part documentary on the Get Back sessions. Directed by Peter Jackson. All the footage comes from 1969 when the Beatles wanted to document the creation of new material to be performed and released live. It was later released as Let It Be. None of the Beatles attended the premiere. It was a depressing movie.
      This version is going to show a more complete picture and show us how much fun they are having while splitting. Watch George quit! Then return.
      Dig it was a snippet of a long jam.
      One After 909 was one of the first songs they wrote when they were 15.

      What you might not have noticed, some of the songs are live (I've got a Feeling, Dig a Pony, One after 909, Get back) from the famous "Rooftop Concert" in London on January 30th, 1969 on the roof of their "Apple Studio". The album doesn't have a solid concept, so it seems a little disorganized and the Beatles weren't really enthusiastic about this album either. Nevertheless, the music of the Beatles is still of such a quality, that it survives even that. Except for me "The long and winding road". A gruesome McCartney dumpling, which he later continued for example with his solo song "My love". "I me mine" is the last song, the Beatles (except John Lennon) worked on as a band in January 1970.

    • @prabhakarsharma7910

      These was the last album by the beatles, which was mixed and compiled by a new producer who was roped in just to extract out worth of an album's material from their unreleased tapes, after the band had split up. So that's why the end product is not that amazing as other masterfully crafted beatles masterpieces.

      To me, it's the underrated album. I prefer Let it Be Naked, though, the remastered version by Paul McCartney strip of the unnecessary brass arrangement. The order of the songs is different too.

    I think the problem with this album is that it seems like only Paul brought his A game. Lennon had the brilliant Across the Universe, but that was a song he'd recorded a year earlier. George had good song ideas but was struggling to make himself heard.

  • @Deebhoy
    @Deebhoy 3 года назад +12

    The Beatles had intended making a back to basics album with all the songs recorded live in the studio with Billy Preston brought in for keyboards. But the idea never worked. They were still exhausted from the White Album and the sessions for the songs became unfocused with long jams and Lennon loosing interest because of drug problems. The songs were shelved with nobody quite knowing what to do with them. They then went and recorded Abbey Road, their final album and a year later Phil Spector revisited the tapes and attempted to make an album which everyone basically hated, especially McCartney. The idea was good, the execution and timing wasn't. A longer break and Lennon bringing some good songs could have saved the project. Still some absolute peaches on it though that other bands would die for.

    • @makeadifference4all
      @makeadifference4all 3 года назад +1

      Harrison's songs are also weaker than his compositions for the White Album and "Abbey Road." Lennon's "Across the Universe" is a classic, but for the most part, Paul seemed the most invested in this project, and the lack of a cohesive and focused band effort hurts the album.

    An effect they had back then was a Leslie, which was a two-headed horn speaker that rotated. If you placed microphones around it you'd get a pulsing quality from any voice or instrument played through the speakers.
    I'm surprised you didn't like "Two of Us," as that's classic buddy music. You like cinematics, and that's a soundtrack to go along with a scrapbook montage of two friends growing up together.
    "Across the Universe," "The Long and Winding Road," "Let It Be," are some of my favorite Beatles tunes. "Get Back" has a good groove.
    Now that you've heard all the music, you should watch the video of the concert the Beatles did on the rooftop.

    "One After 909" was an early, somewhat primitive Lennon-McCartney song they had played in the studio but never officially released. Years later, they sound like they're horsing around as they recorded this sloppy version that got released on "Let It Be." Check out a tighter, unreleased version they did much earlier at ruclips.net/video/aDdy1MBckSI/видео.html&ab_channel=TheBeatles-Topic.

    These mid to late great albums, everything from Revolver on, would have been the entire career of most any other band. But for the Beatles it was an encore to their career: they never performed these songs live as a band after they recorded them. Songs recorded and then never performed live (other than a couple of TV shows and the legendary roof concert). Unprecedented in any other band. Just one more unique aspect of their remarkable history.

  • @sterbi9722

    You should definitely listen to Let it Be…. Naked. It’s a more recent remix of the album with an added song, but the idea, and don’t quote me, is how the Beatles wanted the album to sound. Certain effects, like the ones in Across The Universe, would be removed and have a stronger focus on the actual instruments.

  • @anthonys.2365
    @anthonys.2365 3 года назад +1

    Get Back was actually a protest song, but key lines were removed. Let it Be was about Getting Back (Get Back the original working title) to their roots, playing live. But, you can hear the tension and distance. Abbey Road that followed, you can hear the difference. Even though there is speculation the Beatles were considering another album, Abbey Road is just full of life, a bang to end it!
    You should listen to Let it Be Naked without the influence of Phil Spector and the Past Masters for their singles as the Beatles only added singles to an album at the very end of their career as they believed it was ripping off the listener!

    This album is such a fascinating beast for me. The time period for them recording is such an interesting time in their history, and I’m really excited for the giant Let It Be documentary dropping later this year. Phil Spector produced a lot of the final album instead of their original producer George Martin which is why it sounds so different from their usual sound and is probably why it’s my least favorite Beatles album. Highly recommend the stripped back Let It Be.. Naked album tho, it’s Paul’s original vision for the album and is WAY better imo

    A very Jammy, improvised groove, recorded live, bluesy, funky vibe. George Harrison's lead guitar is outstanding throughout--and you can hear on Let It Be how George Harrison so influenced that guitar genius Prince, the mixing of melody, intense feeling, and screaming intensity. And praise must go to the Beatles' longtime friend and collaborator, brutha King keyboardist BILLY PRESTON, who became a major R&B/Soul/Funk-rock star in his own right after the break-up of the Beatles. MR. Billy Preston is OUTSTANDING on his work on Let it Be and the killer groove Get Back.

    Let it be album is pretty underrated but i think its mostly forgotten by how simultaneously trash and good the mixing by spector can be. That said im excited to hear how good is the 2021 mix going to be compared to the original .

    I'm still surprised you are not pulling up lyrics, especially for the Lennon songs - which you constantly wonder what is being said, what's meant, etc. Geez - read the lyrics and start the Ponder. That's what Lennon does. I also enjoy you talking about ACROSS THE UNIVERSE... "very cinematic... like traveling around the sun... across the Solar System..." Uh. Like, uh, maybe across the universe, maybe?

      I ME MINE was George's open slap at John and Paul using lawyers to claim everything is theirs, yours, mine. Earlier, the Beatles recorded George's NOT GUILTY (which never was included on a Beatles' album since it was considered too much of a slap in their faces - George was saying, "Hey, so what if I write a hit song. I'm not stealing your thunder. I'm not wiping out your hits. I'm not guilty of those recriminations." John and Paul didn't like being confronted like that. In year or two, Paul would do far worse against John (TOO MANY PEOPLE) and John's response (HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?) upped the ante. Their song-feud made George's two opening salvos seem like nuthin'.

      ONE AFTER 909 was one of the oldest unrecorded songs from the Beatles' earliest '60s club gigs. This referred to someone catching the train just after Train 909 passed.

      @@RonMishraI've seen all his reactions thus far and he's continuing "mystified" by Lennon lyrics, not understanding the words, etc, when in fact the liner notes often carried full lyrics that the original fans read along. Lyrics are even more readily available, as are notes about instrumentation, song histories, etc, many of which are this reactor's questions. Too confrontational about READING? Really?

    This album is weird for me because half of the tracks are, in my opinion, some of the best in their career, and while I do enjoy a lot of the other songs on here, they don’t hit the same highs that some of the deep cuts from their other albums manage to

    Don’t worry, I’m a huge Beatles fan and it’s my least favorite album, even though they did have 2-3 spectacular songs (including Dont Let Me Down which is their best track IMO from these sessions)

    Album sucked because heroin temporarily took away Lennon's creativity. And Spector fucked it up even worse.

      Yeah they weren’t interested in working with one another anymore. Especially with Paul. You can tell they half assed it and it was just chaotic with George Martin there but not even knowing his role since Phil Spector was there taking over producer duties. Thank God Paul decided to call up the guys and convinced them to make Abbey Road
