Royal Assassin was the first "choice" rare I pursued to put together a playset via trading before I started buying cards online. Good memories of playing casual with friends just getting into the game and my 4x Royal Assassins terrifying them to attack. Ah, the very early 2000s.
4x Royal Assassin, 4x Will O The Wisp and 4x Sorceress Queens. Stall for time while you gather your 4x Sengir Vampires, destroy their lands with your 4x Demonic Hordes, drain their life with 4x Drain Life and then feed everything to your 4x Lord of the Pit. Old school black decks were fun.
I remember when I was new to the game and it was announced Royal Assassin was getting reprinted in 8th Edition, with Icy Manipulator being reprinted in Mirrodin right after that. I was super hype to try to build a deck with those. Of course, it wasn't actually a good combo at that point, but it ruled in kitchen table play.
I feel like if Royal Assassin were reprinted nowadays, it would be a common because of power creep. It was really feared back in the day. We would argue if a Prodigal Sorcerer could destroy untapped Royal Assassin. Eventually, I got tired of arguing and just ran Twiddle to tap it, THEN I would kill it. :)
Love Royal Assassin. Probably my favorite black card of all time. Simple but strong effect that has long since been power crept but still decent removal in more limited formats.
In my Rakdos commander deck Murderous Redcap is a fantastic card. I can get it off twice, get it back on my upkeep with my commander Wort, Boggart Auntie, and it combos with a kitchen sink to allow it to go infinite way too easily. I use Metallic Mimic and a sac outlet for the infinite recursion, or if I happen to have Ashnod’s Altar and Nim Deathmantle out, that works, too.
I don't remember the entire decklist, but Murderous Redcap + Sigil Captain were both legal in standard at the same time. I believe my sacrifice outlets were Marsh Flitter and Nantuko Husk.
Always had a soft spot for cards with assassin in card name back in the days, never knew it would become an own tribal one day. I used to love Notorious Assassin, from Mercadian Masques and of course Royal Assassin
Marchesa!!! In Italian the "ch" is pronounced like "k"!!! She comes from a plane based on Italy (Florence) in the Renaissance, please pronounce her name as Markesa.
Ahhh assassins, I don't think I've played many assassins. However, I have hired many assassins to take out people who tried to stop me from getting "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)", so nobody try and stop me!
She's not "Queen Marchesa at home", Thorn of the Black Rose is Queen Marchesa's most loyal deniable asset. Marchesa herself is "the Black Rose". It makes perfect sense that the Thorn sees more action; she's there so Marchesa doesn't have to get her hands dirty.
Royal assassin seems like it wouldn't be as good as it is. Sure power creep and all makes it easy to kill but the amount of times holding a untapped royal assassin has stalled certain combats for me is really funny.
Assassin's Creed is going to be, unfortunately, like the Transformers set, where they try to fit a variety of archetypes into the set. This is fine for a normal set but it means that it will be hard to build an assassin tribal commander deck.
It's fitting that in the assassin video, we have a card creeping up to take out #1.

Yup, Royal Assassin made attacking an extremely awkward affair. And then there was Kismet.
It's a "chase" rare . Not "choice"

Sad that Royal Assassin didn't make the list. Good times back in the day imprinting my RAs on Soul Foundry and doling out an army of tappy assassins.
I used to play a group game deck with Royal Assassins, Giant Oysters, Word of Binding, and of course Icy's. It was so stupid and so fun.
I knew it wouldn't be on here, but its sad to not see royal assassin in the list anywhere.
The original Royal Assassin was one of my favorite cards & artwork.

Royal Assassin is being reprinted in the AssCreed set as a rare.
Was this before the stack existed? Or am I missing something? Seems obvious that it should work lol
@@derekcline950 It was when the internet barely existed and us dumb kids in middle school didn't know the rules of the game.

Ooo.
Is top 10 cycles possible? Or too difficult to calculate?
Massacre girl ist Just such a cool Card

Can you do 10 worst Urza's Block cards? Urza's Block is (rightfully) infamous for being OP, but there has to be some stinkers.

Wasn't expecting redcap, I forgot it was an assassin.

Vraska the Unseen is a great ult. I won with it after pulling it on Urza at a draft.

Ayyyy must be midnight
Who remembers that time when Mr. Magic tried to change the time of day he uploads and the most polite riot ensued?
Im also shocked Royal Ass didnt make the list. I think hes getting a reprint in the Ass Creed set.

Edgy comments like this might be frowned upon, but they do get to the point.
@@stuflames4769 Honestly I had literally no other joke I could think of other than this remarkably edgy garbage.

Ahhh pod decks and splinter twin 😢 Nabu better join them soon 😅
Now this is live laugh murder content

Sadly Assassins Trophy doesn't qualify as an assassin :(
Birthing pod? Never heard of him

No respect to the royal assassin
It made an appearance at least
Murderous what?!? That’s cap! Don’t nobody like that bullshit card 😂🤣
