Animated movies need to start casting professional voice actors instead of just popular celebrities for a bunch of reasons. Phil Lamarr, John Dimaggio, and many others should be A listers by now

They do that, but eventually if an actor/actress you hire for your franchise achieves acclaim, their rate goes up and you're stuck deciding if you want them in the next installment or not.
It will literally become the same problem at the end of the day the producers and higher ups not wanting to pay vas what they believe they are worth after getting acclaimed plus it’s not like they just out of nowhere said jack let’s film this movie they all auditioned and got the roles fair and square

Welcome kids to the world of voice acting being ruined by celebrities since the 90s.
They were in the first 3, what exactly was ruined? The 4th film is just a bunch of producers milking an IP and they did just fine hiring sound alikes for the TV series, the kids don't care, only the adults.

At least if Dreamworks hired voice actors to immitate the current voices, the movie could have been better. If Dreamwork's complaint is about how much the celebrities cost to do the voices, it just makes sense.

If they aren't paid to voice act, then they won't do it. Voice acting is how they make money, and if they can't make a living doing it, then we wouldn't have most movies and shows. But I do think many actors are paid a bit too much, 20 million for one line is absurd

Just curious, where would you say the line goes between being a celebrity and a professional voice actor? Again, just curious, if a debate occurs than I’d gladly try to explain my thoughts. I’m personally a bit split cause I do agree that overall professional voice actors may be better but at the same time if the people they do hire fit the role and can pull it off than mostly I don’t care. But it’s a very case by case scenario for me.

If I was in charge I would've said "then get me the actors from the TV show" it would at least be a nod to anybody who liked Legends of Awesomeness and we'd still have the Furious 5.

They want the celebrities because their names/likeness are marketable. If they just used the tv cast marketing wouldve told them the same thing.

Of course if they have made a saga with the same voices it would feel kinda weird for the audience, but that would happen even if the voice actors were not famous people.

I think that inextricably linking an animated character written, created and animated by many people to the voice actor who is only chosen AT THE END to lend him his voice is the death of animation. The difference between animation and live action is precisely the immortality of the characters.
If the voice actors ask for too much money or are not available, look for others, don't eliminate the characters especially if they are loved!

Then you remeber the fact that said co director ( the guy) has been vocal about believing that all animated movies ( not just kfp but also atspv) are for children,wanted to introduce humans to the fanchise( bad idea) and been outed to not even respected the opinion of the other co directer hundred percent shady

20 million per voice actor x 5 is 100 million, that's double the movie's budget for only 5 characters

So marketing was holding back money and the budget for the movie was already stretched, it wasn't until marketing brought the money in for advertisement to pay for the extra cast.
I’ve seen kung fu panda 4, and the furious five do appear, but at the end of the movie during the post credits when they’re training Zhen.

I've never understood why they got expensive actors to play the Five in the first place. They could have cast 5 other people and given them a lot more lines and character development
There's also the VAs which did the TV show but that also could be an issue depending what's going on etc.

This explains why the budget for KFP4 was insanely lower than the other 3. The one that took the lowest amount of money to make was KFP1 which had a 130 million dollar budget. KFP4 had a budget of just 85 million
This movie did not live up to the same standard of the previous movies. Character building was rushed. Felt like a nostalgia cash grab...
Honestly, just forget about those celebrities, just cast good voice actors that have been voicing these characters like in many KFP tvshows, they did a good job.
Plus, we want to watch the characters and want to hear they talk, not hear celebrities talking in behind the scene.
When I first read this, I thought fast and furious... And now I can't stop thinking about Vin diesel fighting a cartoon panda
She could've been recast. It's not like she has some spectacular voice that shines above others.

In the cast Seth Rogen was the only one they brought back but he only made a grunt as mantis

They could've made a furious 5 out 5 of the strongest masters like Tai Lung, General Kai etc and have them all go on the journey with Po learning from him and having a redemption arc especially Tail Lung. With him finally earning the title of Dragon Warrior and having him apologize to Shifu giving him peace
It's Shady because they feel the new characters won't sell toys so they want to have a furious five cameo that way they can make toys for them
I get it for the story too.
It wasn't about them or about some new ancient threat po wasn't ready to face alone. Po proved to being a kong fu master in part 1 & 2, proved hes a master of Qi and really a dragon warrior in part 3 as his Qi took shape of the dragon. In part 1 he was new and needed help. In part 2 he was still in training, facing unknown weapon that kills kung fu, and killed a master in 1v1. In part 3 he fought vs an ancient warrior of uugway level, using a power of the universe.
Part 4 was about his final destination and passing on his mantle to a successor. It was solely his journey and his self reflection, posing no treats he couldn't handle.
Sure 5 could've offered some wisdom or insights with sick kung fu moves, but they wouldn't add anything to the story, like they didn't in part 3. Tigress alone was there to offer final revelation and thats it.
I did miss them and the jokes they bring, but, apart tigress, they're all fully extras ever since part 2.
Kong Fu Panda
I think that the better thing to do would be hiring voice actors. Because having celebrity actors. Play these animated parts then because of how much they cost. Them not getting the money they want leaving the film. makes what what happened to Kung Fu Panda 4 happened. I'm not saying celebrity actors don't deserve money. I'm saying that having a voice actor being this position. Would work better because they will probably be willing. To stay on the project more. Which could actually help the voice actor get more representation. Out there which could help continue the story more. Because what's the celebrity there's an expectation. From them that they are worth this amount of money. With the voice actors you can actually. Probably work better with them on a price. For playing that characters in a franchise. That's my biggest problem with celebrity
actor voice acting. We don't get the money they want they leave. Which ruins the franchise because that character. Maybe needed those movies TV shows the franchise in whole. But with voice actors you can work with them they're flexible.

I really love Angelina as Tigress, but they could have found different voice actors that sounded similar and have them have just a few lines so that the change isn't so obvious. Oh well.

I really like the relationship between Po and Tigress and the fact that she wasn’t in the movie is the reason why I didn’t watch the fourth one.
This is like Toy Story 4 where they shaft any of the old characters except woody or buzz to make room for the new characters.

I'm going to be honest I think that they should have gotten voice actors. Who could sound like the furious five. Had them be the new cast for these characters. Gave them a deal on a large but lucrative amount. That the studio could pay these. Keep them on the franchise. For the next upcoming Kung Fu Panda 5 and 6 and or tv show. Then leave it like that. That way it can help the franchise by having these characters be in it. While also being actually lucrative in actually worthwhile. For the studio the writers the marketing team everyone. Because now they have a team they can consistently work with on a day-to-day basis. Who's not going to cost a quarter of the budget for the movie. It may sound bad or not like a good idea. But if you can get a voice actor. That can sound like the furious five members. I'm going with the voice actor. Over the celebrity actor all the time. Sorry to be blunt that's how I see it. Because it may seem shady. The company may seem cheap I believe it's reasonable. 20 million for one actor or actress. Is a lot to drop especially if the character. Is it going to be in the movie as much. Or as we see now not at all. But I get why people would say it's not the celebrities fault. I see both sides I'm leaving more to one side. Because at the end of the day Kung Fu Panda 4. Could have been one of the better movies in this franchise. Seeing that it went through what it did. Seeing how the story went just disappoints me. Outside of the writing perspective. Not having a big part of the universe there. Really hurts it in my opinion when you look at it as a whole.

Yeah that’s a lot of big names in the five. Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and David Cross. Granted none would be as expensive as Jolie but still just not including any of them was the right idea from a business sense. However I do think not having them was the wrong move artistically and in terms of the story.
Or just recast the Voice Actors. Like there's alot Voice Actors who can easily emulate the voices. People won't notice if they replace Angelina with Jennifer Hale.
