- I've ridden quite a few gravel bikes, to include the alloy and steel versions of the Niner RLT9. The carbon RDO model has been my go-to for the past few years. In this video I show my latest one in the 5-star build.

Surprised you went axs 1X….i have been using axs 2X (on a raod bike)…love the auto shift of the front derailluer .
What’s the weight of the 5star build? Thanks
Did Niner stopped production? Been wanting to buy the RLT RDO.
Honestly not sure. I also noticed that they’re out of stock almost things. Hopefully just a supply issue that will be resolved soon. I’m going to reach out to them and find out.
I contacted Niner. They are building a new website which is why things are showing up as out of stock. They said you should be able to get bikes through dealers.
I’m struggling to pull the trigger on a Niner because it looks like the company might be in financial trouble and what that means for customer service or warranty if the company dissolves. Any insights on this Clint?
I’ve talked to some folks there and Idon’t have any indication of that. Like many bike companies they’re needing to get rid of some overstock after COVID. They are under a conglomerate company now that covers a few other brands which is more financially strong than being independent. That’s about all I know.
Hi Clint, did you weight your bike?
It’s around 19 pounds
does that frame have a UDH hanger ?
Hey Clint, my wife and I brought out gravel bike down to the Hudson FL area north of Tampa and are looking for good gravel spots in an hr or so's drive?Any suggestions?
I honestly don’t do any gravel riding down that way. My mom lives in safety Harbor and when I visit her I just end up riding the paved trails. I would imagine there are some areas out near Brooksville. I know there’s a lot of gravel around Lake Apopka. Most of my gravel knowledge is around the north central Florida area where it is abundant. There are some great mountain bike trails near Tampa, namely Balm Boyette and Alafia. Sorry I couldn’t be a further help! But if you get up to the north Central Florida area let me know. It’s about a 2 Hour drive for you
WHAT ABOUT THAT FORK? I always worry about forks from non-mainstream brands using inferior designs and components. Yeah, mainstream brands have fork issues, but you can sue them, but these micro brands, who know how long they are around.
Niner has been around since 2005 and still going strong. As far as the fork, I have used that fork on several bikes over the last 10 years and have never had an issue.
Hi! Though it’s rated to up to a 700x50 tyre, do you think you could squeeze a 29x2.2 tyre in? I’m looking into buying the RLT, this might be a deal breaker. Tks!
Upfront, yes I’m pretty sure you could fit a 2.2. In the back I am not sure and would have to try it. If I get some time soon soon I may do that.
@@ClintGibbs thanks!
How much tire clearance does the RLT9 have? I've been watching Gravel racer Dylan Johnson videos and he has been getting Top 10 results using 29x2.2 Continental Race King tires. He's been making some very good arguments for wider tires.
About 50c up front. Maybe be able to go that wide in the back but 45 no problem in the back
I haven’t ridden it yet, so without my 250 pounds on the bike, I have fit 29x2.00 tires front and rear on mine. Clearance is VERY tight, but it rolls without my weight on it. Will I use 29x2.00 on the final build up? Not a chance. Do I think 700x50 would fit? Yes.
@@zimmejoc a 700x50c is about the same width as a 2.0 29er tire.
what size frame and stem is your bike
Medium, 90mm
so good
Awesome! (And mtb for bike packing…all day long!)
Niner RLTs are simply fantastic! Nice bike 😊
Great looking paint scheme. I like the bars, they seem to have just enough flair without going crazy.
I got my wife the RLT-9 and built it out with 650b and flat bars, amazing bike
Before my current bike I’ve never owned a titanium bike. I’ve had everything else. I’m sold! Titanium is amazing! I have a problem with yet one more thing to charge!😂 For now, I’ll stick with mechanical. There’s a GRX 1 x 12 in my future. The Niner is a very nice looking bike. I really like the simplicity and clean look of one by. It would be hard to go back. One by fits my needs well.
I have this exact bike. I do race it and I do love it! Thx for the vids.
Beautiful bicycle.
You need to do a fleet update soon Clint. Im losing track of what you own. 😂
This Bike. Its actually a pretty affordable bike right now. Great looking paint....
I’ve lost track of it too. I’ve never had so much bite turnover as I’ve had in the past few months. Every time I walk in the garage is a new bike lol! Yeah, Bike fleet video update is coming soon.
can you do a review or something like that on a gravel bike that is under $1500
This one comes close:

Were you an Emporia Kansas this week? I am sure I have seen you there.
I was not
The Niner website currently list the Stans Crest S2 wheelset for the 5* build. Campy Ekar and Shimano GRX Di2 are the best in the industry for brake modulation.
Looks like they just did a spec change. They also dropped the price to reflect it.
The 5 Star build without carbon wheels does not cost $5,799. Misleading at best, just change the spec and advertise the price no need to show an inflated price with a "reduction"@@ClintGibbs
I predict that gravel bike is not going to be your bike packing bike.
It will not. I’m leaning more and more to build up a hard tail to be my bike packing bike. Just more versatile.
@@ClintGibbs a Salsa Cutthroat is very popular where I live
@@ClintGibbs wouldn't you miss the extra hand positions ?
@@JitinMisrathere are many ways around that. Aero bars, inner bar ends, or even alt bars would give you more than enough hand positions on a Hardtail
@@BoxCarBoy12 what’s the advantage of hardtail over a gravel bike for bike touring ?
