    nice video man👍 one of the best way to hook in the mouth is to let the fly drift down river to where it almost floats up, or towards the edge almost to where the next person is standing then pull up. the hook almost always is in the mouth. Kenai river fishing is the best, some days you can limit out in 15 minutes, and somedays you can sit all day and nothing lol

      NuttyNu your welcome, thanks for the videos. I miss Alaska’s fishing and outdoors, most other states is not the same. They’re all enjoyable, but just very different.

      Agreed. I learned that this past summer. I was also not allowing my leader to travel far enough down river for the majority of the summer. I would limit usually, but I would be on the river all day! I ran into a guy in August who told me to let the line drift down to almost perpendicular to the shore and then lift up rather than rip. Using his advice I was able to limit and get a proxy in about 2 hours.

    Dude what day was this I was there across on the other side at swift water lol,,,,, I thought I heard your whoop whoop!! Lol. Caught 6 then caught 6 more I have proxy. Yah hogs man. I’m home one hour ago. Boats out today so going back tomorrow okumo SLV baby. Our fly rods are the bomb. You use that loop knot? I didn’t see any swivel lol. Luv the enthusiasm,,,, that’s how I am. Always motivated lol. Oh every 15-20 minutes check your pole. After so many they loosen up I use a 7-8 ft leader there. 2 split shots size 3

      I was using Regular mono line, then I switched over to fly line, I like the fly line

    You should give the Big River Gamakatsu hooks a try. I have much more success on the Kensington with the big river 3/0s or a circle hook and yarn.

    That pump is too hard to resist but that is what lands you more snags than anything. 20yrs in, fly rod is the way to go, screw spinners. Just pull a little slower, you will catch less but instead of 4/5 snags, you will hit 1:2 legit. Slow and drag, 3/4oz sliding egg off a 6ft leader with a yarnie. Try it.

    When you snag at the end of your cast I would recommend you snag the direction of the the current because you get a lot more mouth hooks and not snags.

    Nice videos on catching red's. Good commentary to inform others on what works and what doesn't! One important suggestion for future videos and for that matter - ANY future fishing on the river community - Please use ettiquete in your language. This is a wholesome sport in a beautiful natural environment that believe it or not, many feel it is Created for us! To hear the f-bomb broadcast up and down the river can really degrade the moment for many within ear shot. Especially kids! Please be a good adult example!

      Dollies taste better than sockeye but do not freeze or travel well, eat one there and you will be spoiled that you cannot take one home, they do not taste good after freezing.

    Keep your rod pointed upstream and low to the water and your housing them to much. Let them tire out

  • @terrysharp4376
    @terrysharp4376 3 года назад +1

    Your losing all your fish because you dont keep your rod close to the surface. The fish feel you pulling them out of the water is why you lose them.

    I think you loose a lot of them because you put many pressure in the line and a fish like a salmon need space and time to fight ....
