Not only does this seem like something more interesting to train a new account on but it'll be much easier to get a friend playing by telling them they can kill a boss for their early combat instead of getting sand in their eyes for a hundred hours
I agree - I felt like it took quite a lot of skill/combat levels to truly get into the existing PVM content. As someone who is still new to PVM, I think this is an awesome edition for learners. 😄🤘🏼
I've never once trained on crabs. It's inefficient, you should always strive to be training multiple skills at once. Do waterfall quest and camp pest control, way more entertaining.
Bro for real! I've been playing this game and the moss giant obor and giant mole were the only ones I've ever fought and besides the mole the other 2 smacked me hard. I am really enjoying this rat boss and it's gonna help me train switches for jad. I made it to jad my first try but died messing up the switches. Haven't been to confident yet but this boss has helped so much. Also my brother is gonna come back to the game to try out the mole. Currently 223 KC ❤
I've been saying osrs needs more lower level bosses for years. I really want to see more pvm minigames, defending a wall against ridiculous amounts of enemies, Would be really interesting to see a mechanic like brawlers, where you can't walk past or through enemies that are grouped up.
Bruv I just recorded and edited a full-on video going over this for the old school runescape channel tomorrow and here you are just making the same but 10x better
I just really hope there will be private instance option if its multi, otherwise first week gonna be a clusterfuck of mains camping for pet and low lvls not being able to do shit
After having done 100KC in one evening against the boss, I can say its quite an amazing design. There is a prayer altar around the corner, and you can full heal every 10 minutes within the fight. There's very little supply cost, making the rat king actually profitable for low level combat. The training is good too, I did 400k+ xp in one evening, where usually Id do 120k. The rat king makes you about 9k GP every kill and you can do about 30KC per hour if you can stick around and get a bit lucky with hits (from a lvl 70-80 combat stat perspective). I do think this boss is especially good for solo melee, as you can 1 tick kill the rats for a quick 480 xp, whilst ranged and mage take a bit longer as their projectiles take a while to travel. Between the low cost of supplies, the generally low supply drain if you do well, the rewards and the pet being a thing, I can say this boss is going to be my way of training to lvl 90+ combat.
Brilliant summary my man! I also really enjoyed testing all the weapons yesterday and have a video on their results later today. Genuinely impressed by how competetive the XP rates are in the private instance, exceeded my expectations for sure
I think a low risk boss with similar mechanics to late game ones is really important I've been doing f2p for most of my carreer in osrs, and I've always dreaded the insurmountable skill levels that endgame content could require. I think it'll be a nice bridge, or I'll just figure out I'm bad at the game :p
Personally I think it's a great addition. However, this like all bossing encounters in OSRS suffer from the same problem, needning overheads. I wish they would actually design some sort of early encounter where you don't need overheads to do the fight without taking a damage hit that oneshots you. Im starting to get sick of rushing to 43 prayer on every new character to be able to do any the fun stuff
I’m curious at what combat and gear bracket this will stop being “better xp than activities like nmz” considering it’s made for lower combat levels. Couldn’t imagine that this would be better xp than nmz for an account with 80+ stats and high strength gear

Some true words were said here. im happy that they are active on mid level gameplay. its insane how important that is for the game in long run.
Bro the rat bone staff shoots cheese this is awesome
Edit: I'm so glad you pointed that out five minutes after I noticed it lol
It really impacted the cheese market though, people thought there would be enough supply for the staff to use cheese as ammo 😂

Pest control brawlers 😂

Bruh, I saw that literally the day after I put this up! No shot, yours was perfect
They should make it so bringing a cat helps you during the fight, mayhe it will draw the aggro from the smaller rats so you can focus on the boss
CAT mechanics?! Big brain idea right here
I just really hope there will be private instance option if its multi, otherwise first week gonna be a clusterfuck of mains camping for pet and low lvls not being able to do shit
Definitely interested to see what you have to say on the other reveals. Always enjoy the editing and feel like you bring a fair take to the table. =)
Thanks man!
I think the bow should shoot cheese tipped arrows.
POLL IT JAGEX
Awwwww so cute for the noobs 🥺

Hold up, you might be onto something

Cry more
Overheads are so fast to get, it's an easy day one task even on a UIM. By the time you get to 60 combat you should have 43 prayer.
just found your channel, verry nice content man, hope u gain the subs u deserve. keep it on!
Greets Dartino
i'm excited for my mid game ironman hopefully it'll get me into raids more faster. :D

Also really interested to see the rates, might be a couple of weeks until we have an idea. I'll be testing it out across a couple different accounts
I quit osrs but this is getting me back
Cheese?
Oh snap he's right here
Omg they turned Skill Specs into a boss? Also, great rundown! 👍
😂 Thank you my good man. Can't wait for the next episode of CAL ❤
It sounds like a good addition, but I still doubt I'll ever do it. Thumbs up though
is there a rat on the inside that gives you this information?
Do we have any idea what time Scurry will drop tomorrow? (Game time)
Rat king huge w
as someone who only plays iron and is absolute dogshit at combat, this excites me. less investment bossing to focus on improving? yes please
Scythe will be bis?
They aren't going to address the botting issue before they release this boss.... great.
People are going to abuse those lamps for some truly novel account builds.
Decent update, good video, super.
