Humidity makes the cold feel colder and the heat feel hotter. While it rarely hits 100+F in Orlando, it can very much feel well above it. I didn't realize by how much until I took a trip to a drier climate - what a difference. It's like living in a sauna for half the year, and we run the AC basically all year.

I have been living in Austin, TX for a year (originally from Long Island New York but left because I hate the cold and snow). I will stay in Austin for a few years but I am thinking of moving to Florida after a couple of years. The one thing I can't stand about Texas is the cold winters. The summers are brutal but I will take that over snow any day. However, I did not expect Texas winters to get SOOO COLD. We actually had an ice storm last winter and lost power. I like a tropical climate (spent my early childhood in West Africa and I loved tropical rainfall and 80-90 degree weather). My only concerns with Florida are alligators, snakes, bugs, sinkholes, Hurricanes, and crime. Other than that I would have picked Florida over Texas from the beginning. Hopefully if or when I am ready to leave Texas the cost of living in Orlando won't be too bad 🙂.

I get all of that! I am originally from attica NY so I get the winters! And the hurricanes are the only real big issue everything else you mentioned comes down to what area you choose to live in. But always here to help you can make that decision!

Those reason should be the least of your worries. If you want happiness, stay in Texas! It’s no culture in Florida, specifically in Orlando. It’s basically a shopping mall and restaurant city. Everyone who lives here are in the service industry. There’s no hospitality here and most people are not friendly. You might think diversity is good but here, it’s too diverse in a sense. No real identity. You’ll most definitely feel alone. Stay in Texas where it’s cheaper and people are somewhat nice!
