    • @loveforeignaccents
      @loveforeignaccents 11 часов назад +18

      So many comments about this, so let's just clarify.
      What was stated as her being "disoriented" or "in distress" were: One employee seeing her half-naked in the car, which could have been for a number of reasons; her twirling her hair outside of her vehicle, which I would deem to be normal behavior for someone; and, lastly, that she appeared to be "mumbling to herself" inside her car, which we all know cell phones were around at that time and that most people had one -- also learning that Jessika did in fact have one -- so she could have merely been speaking to someone on speakerphone at the time. Of course we know what we know now and have a natural tendency to want to judge others -- and often, quite harshly -- but nothing about what I reiterated of what was stated in the video would I deem as necessitating a call to emergency services for help... and I am a person who has zero problems phoning the police.

      @ From the info I saw online about the case facts, two people/employees from the pizza shop saw her. No other people were mentioned as having seen her or at least making a statement and definitely not testifying to that effect, so I think this channel misspoke when they said "several".

    • @bellamia8867
      @bellamia8867 3 часа назад +1

      @ considering it was a high car and foot traffic area and well into morning rush when she was found I’m willing to bet a fair few people saw her as they passed on their way to work/school etc and just decided “not my problem” those two employees were the ones noted because, being from the store directly in front of her car, the cops would have questioned them. Just because they weren’t specifically quoted/questioned that just means they didn’t come forward. Bystander apathy, it’s a documented phenomenon where the more people are around the less likely someone will help. Unfortunately in this case it likely cost this girl her life.

      Watching the footage, I was crestfallen when she didn't park closer to the Wal-Mart. She could have parked right next to the handicapped spots in the light and direct eyeline of the doors. I live in what's considered one of the safest countries in the world (it's getting more violent these days, though), and I keep my head on a swivel when out and about. Women can walk safely at night at any hour, but that doesn't mean there'll never be someone who takes advantage of that. No matter where you are, be vigilant.

    Even if they thought she was under the influence of substances, the fact that she clearly had access to a vehicle and was seen to be acting strange, should have at the least, warranted a call to the police.
    And the outright nerve of the murderer claiming that the "meet up" was planned and consensual. The idiot clearly tried to gaslight anyone who viewed the security camera footage by trying to rewrite what clearly happened with his own narrative.

      Honestly, Christine, I don't think any of it would warrant a call to 911. We know it did in hindsight, but at the time she was seen half-naked in the vehicle by one person, which could have meant she was changing clothes (which it in fact sounded like); then others saw her outside the car twirling her hair (normal behavior); and then another saw her mumbling to herself in the car, which could have been her talking on a cell phone on speaker.

    • @Christine005
      @Christine005 11 часов назад +1

      @@loveforeignaccents You may be right and it could be a case of hindsight in regards of my comment.
      However when you take in the facts of the symptoms caused from her brains' lack of oxygen from being strangled twice, you'd expect that when looking at her you'd notice something isn't right. If the people who saw her were close enough to see her twirling her hair, or alone and talking in the car, or even that she was naked (yes in her car) in a public space and scrambling to get dressed should have still raised an alarm. I'm not blaming the witnesses. I know it's not their fault for her death. And I'm sure that once they heard her story they too would be asking themselves the same questions.
      I guess I'm just disappointed that once again our modern lives have lead us to disconnect from our sense of community and helping within that community. We just seem to care less about others now.

      @ But once again, how could anyone have "taken in the facts" when they didn't have them at the time? I'm not going to call the cops every time I see someone talking to themselves on the train or on the streets, looking like they haven't bathed in months, haven't been to the dentist in ages, etc.

    He was actively hunting. Sicko. There are way too many of these freaks out there. The prosecution did a shit job of presenting the case the first time around. The had video footage of him stalking her. Dropping her car off. No messages between them. She wasnt on the website he claimed. He threw her debit card away. He changed the look of his truck. He was the only one there. They should not have allowed the defence to counteract these claims if they had done their job properly. What happened to the constitution thats states you are allowed a speedy trial. 10 years to retry the guy, come on.
