@@thatbzguy916 oh I’m a fan of vended, I love their style and its definitely reminiscent of early Slipknot, and griffin is a phenomenal vocalist in his own way, but he isn’t like Corey. I can definitely hear that he is Corey’s son, but it isn’t close enough that I can say he is the next Corey.
I've seen more than enough of people mentioning who Corey is, but the story for the song is just as important. 'Snuff' was a song Corey had originally written during the lead-up to his divorce about how abandoned he felt that a woman he KNEW he was in love with had decided to throw away their marriage. He had never planned on it being a Slipknot song, because he knew it would ruin the message of the song if he didn't keep it more ballad-like on the album. It was then-Bassist Paul Gray who convinced him to show it to the rest of the band and try recording it while they were working on All Hope Is Gone (the album it appeared on), and it was a standout success on the album. Incidentally, Joey Jordison (drummer at the time, before he left), wrote and recorded the drums and the rest of the band finished the song for him to surprise him. Shortly after the album's release, Paul died of a heroin overdose, and it kills a piece of Corey every time he plays the song (hence why he told the crowd he was gonna need a lot of help to get through it). His friend, who he considered a brother, had faith in him, and the success was all Paul's doing, so playing it just reminds him of losing two people that were important in his life- his wife and his 'brother'. It's incredibly painful to relive that kind of pain. The best songs DO tend to come from the worst break-ups, sadly.
Thank you. I was about to share the story in the comments myself. But you got here before I did. It’s a very heavy song for him to sing and he rarely performs it.
I wish I could have seen your face when you found out Corey is the lead singer of Slipknot 😂. This version is so fantastic. The official video usually takes people away from his singing abilities and the emotion of the song. I HIGHLY suggest listening to “Bother” from the same live acoustic set. It’s just as good. So the crowd was cheering not only because it’s a beautiful song, but because they know he rarely performs it. He’s a very talented vocalist and has a lot of vocal range…very admired in the rock community…as he should be.
Something very interesting about him is that he has one of the largest vocal ranges among male singers alive today at 5 1/2 octaves. For perspective to those who aren't vocal buffs, Freddie Mercury (lead singer for Queen) had a range of 4 octaves, and THAT was viewed to be a rarely high level. Corey Taylor is frickin' impressive as hell.
This is Coreys song not Slipknots ! When Corey showed it to Paul, Paul that night layed down drum tracks behind Coreys vocals. Paul played it for Corey the next morning and Corey broke down and started crying. So it was added to the album.

The emotion in Corey's performance is real and raw... His talent amazes me! People are quick to call metal, noise... I tell them close your eyes and listen... Either focus on the instruments or a single one OR listen to the vocals and lyrics. First time my 16 year old heard them, she was tense and said it was too much going on... After my tip, she has a greater appreciation for a genre of music who's artists are truly artists. Corey has used his gifts to work thru emotions that so many keep suppressed. Snuff is a song that is dedicated to Slipknot OG bassist Paul Grey and drummer Joey Jordison. This is one of the few songs that can get me to cry nearly consistently. Corey Taylor is easily one of the greatest Singer/Songwriters of the last few decades. The man has so much talent he has a Solo gig, Stone Sour, and Slipknot and all has time to write for all three. Also. Slipknot doesn't play this song live the Only one who does is Corey for Acoustic shows.
Joey Jordison just died less than a year ago. It’s a song about Paul Gray’s writings of their songs. “I still press your letters to my lips…” is Corey Taylor talking about singing his lyrics touching the mic to his lips
They do play it live, I have the video form last month at their concert in Seattle!! It was the final single released before Paul Gray died tragically. It’s now dedicated to him.
@@benitobuentelloiii1257 Paul was still alive for that album too. In Corey’s own words; “This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Corey Taylor is by far one of the most talented and underrated vocalists. His voice is so powerful with his 5 1/2 octave range. His covers of "Purple Rain" and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" are both so amazing. 💜💜
No, don't regret listening to a live performance. Live performances show a singer's true abilities. Studio versions are pieced together from the best "takes", much like a movie. When they sing live, they show what they can and can't really do. Some singers just can't sing live, only the truly great ones can. And Corey Taylor is one of the great ones.
He's the singer from Slipknot(think you did spit it out by them a while back). He also fronts the band stonesour aswell as his solo stuff. This is an acoustic version of a Slipknot song, their bass player Paul grey wrote it(he wrote most of their songs) as an acoustic before they added heavier rifts into the Slipknot version, its also sung in slightly harsher vocals than this. After Paul Grey passed away, corey started playing the acoustic version of snuff in in his solo sets in honour of him.
slipknot's history is laced with a lot of pain and loss. He was able to explore that pain with Stone Sour and CMFT. He has several projects. the man is a human jukebox. There's almost nothing he can't play. The concert that song is from has a lot of songs you'd like... including Spongebob Squarepants... I'm not lying.
I love watching people fall in love with the raw talent that is Corey Taylor. Doesn't matter if it's his solo stuff, slipknot or stone sour, this is very much a rabbit hole worth going down, man
I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but his cover of Prince's "Purple Rain" the night that Prince died - in Minneapolis - is pretty damn amazing as well.
This is your best reaction yet Jo Jo . I’ve watched you grow and you have been honest about your feelings about metal music. Metal has always been doing what hip hop was built from now hip hop is getting into there feels to much and the elders are showing that they are racist. Well metal has always tried to kill racism pantera it’s time to rise is about all colors rising as one against the system it talks about when the media tries to divide us to turn our backs on them and anyone else that tries it that was in1990 most people look over that song
When I was diving into slipknot for the first time, I was completely caught off guard with Snuff. It was somehow an entirely different sound from most of their catalogue, yet captures a very similar emotion.
This song was written about an ex-girlfriend after their breakup and their bassist (Paul) loved this song so much that he pushed Corey to include it on a Slipknot album even though Corey didn't want to because it didn't fit the Slipknot vibe/image. Paul later passed away, and the song gained a new meaning for Corey.
It gives me hope for the future that someone so young has both the EQ and emotional literacy to understand and really feel the stories and emotions behind all of the that you listen to. You are one of the people who helps restore a little of my faith in humanity and its future.
brother playing guitar and singing at the same time is all about the passion you have for the music you write. I've studied music, music theory and at the end of the day its putting the passion in it the song that makes it good.
snuff is a song that means a lot to me. I love watching people living for first time a tiny amount of minutes that I love to keep living during my days.
We are millions, billions to suffer such painful losses or broken heart, depression is every where but no one really cares, it's a kind of game for some people to eat the pain of someone and then throw him away but they're starting to be bored and full of emotions they're not able to feel themselves and then we're alone, rejected, full of hate we don't have the right and the strentgth to release it. Thank you Corey for being one of us, for being talented and strong enough to deliver that in public and thank you guy for listening carefuly, for opening your heart and asking the good questions. Think about that, without success Corey may have sing that in subway to peoples who don't to listen and may have died alone. This is the world we're living in, we love to feel bad by hearing the pain of someone who is known enough to be listened to ... but ugly buildings, closed windows, streets, psychiatric services, jails are full of pain and sorrow and only a few pure angels are killing themselves by giving them their time and tears. I don't believe in God but I remember this sentence :"Caïn, are you your brother's keeper ?"
If I remember right, he performed this version right after he lost one of his drummers, Joey. It's heartbreaking. I find it incredible you've never heard of Corey Taylor. He's the lead singer in Slipknot.
This song always threatens my tear ducts, and I can’t help but belt the lines along with him. Also, when he steps back from the mic, he’s holding back tears

Love Slipknot, I would say more about him, but everyone's all ready told who he is. That's for reacting to this ❤. Much love to you and your family 💕Brandi Modrak 💕❤
This song is regarded as a tribute to Paul Grey, an important member of slipknot, who didn't always see eye to eye with Corey, either way, his death hit slipknot hard, so this is Corey trying to get closure and let Paul live on
He had a very crazy, and amazing story before joining Slipknot in 97. O.D. Twice on cocain when a teen, sexual abuse may have lead to suicide attempts then he moved around Iowa. Unfortunately it is a story that many have some variations of in today's world. He is 48 this year. He has a book out and has spoken of writing a second. Stone Sour, not just a side gig but a serious band on their own has "Bother" is an amazing song and has an acoustic version. His range puts him in a league of legends or to be legendary. Ronnie James Dio, Freddie Mercury, Ronnie Radke, Serj Tankian. Hope you have a great day.
Usually I will dont research a song just let the lyrics reach you. But the story behind this song is so sad. It really. Makes you appreciate the song more when you know the history of this song.
Corey is an amazing singer, I know this was sooo hard to him to perform RIP Paul this songs about but also Joey one of the best drummers in the world I'm so happy I got to see him perform when I was younger.
I got to see him live with Slipknot at the end of May and it was so awesome. He had a sore throat that night but he still killed the performance. You couldn’t tell he was hurting at all

I will never hear Corey sing this song and not cry my eyes out, even silently. You are right about the pain behind it. It comes through no matter the medium.
I think, This song was one of his bestfriends and bandmate that passed aways favourite song that they wrote together, i think thats why he finds it difficult to get through now. This man is a legend.

Just my opinion but I think it would be cool if you reacted to metal more to branch it out, there are hundreds of metal bands that make absolutely incredible music and meaningful songs.
@@drifty455 Yeah for sure. I love bands like Bring Me the Horizon, Avenged Sevenfold, Gojira and Spiritbox to name a few. BMTH has changed a bit but they used to be really heavy, and their lyrics were really poetic to me. Sevenfold are more of just heavy metal, and they have a great tendency to make headbangers. Same with Gojira, except they’re heavier. And Spiritbox is just beautiful, they combine heavy metal sounds with the singer’s incredible voice and the guitarist’s great playing. I’d say a song for each would be Avalanche by BMTH to start out as it’s not as heavy, Mad Hatter or Carry On by Avenged Sevenfold as they have different sounds, Flying Whales by Gojira and Secret Garden by Spiritbox. Sorry if I went on for a while lol.
What saddens me is that artists like Corey, David Draiman, Floor, Chester and the list goes on are rarely known or recognized outside of the metal scene. I've read a lot of comments recommending songs from this show. Screw it. Do yourself a favour and watch the whole show. I've watched it many times over and it remains epic. The rest of the fan base will add more songs. Keep up the work. Glad to see you became a Linkinite lol. Their concerts were lit back in the day.
We just seen then a couple months ago they still put on an amazing show.
Corey Taylor is by far one of the most talented and underrated vocalists. His voice is so powerful with his 5 1/2 octave range. His covers of "Purple Rain" and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" are both so amazing. 💜💜
He's a born performer, artist, vocalist, writer, frontman, etc......I believe he is living his destiny
He's an amazing artist who is the lead vocalist for 2 iconic bands Slipknot and Stone Sour. Corey is a legend. Try Psychosocial by Slipknot
Im pretty sure he has done Slipknot Before, even he didnt realize he was listening to someone he has heard before.
@@N0moreBrandy I just looked and you're right. He's done Psychosocial lol
You've done SEVERAL reactions on his voice as lead singer for Slipknot. He's one of the greatest of my generation of rock writers/performers
He lost his friend and also long Baseplayer from Slipknot. Thank you for this mastermind reaction. Cheers from Germany
I love watching people fall in love with the raw talent that is Corey Taylor. Doesn't matter if it's his solo stuff, slipknot or stone sour, this is very much a rabbit hole worth going down, man
I love this song, but this acoustic version is the best. I really enjoy your reviews, and I respect your love for music.
Bro, I can’t believe you went into this not knowing who Corey is. 😂
“Who is he? He can really sing!”
He can also scream ;)
This song was dedicated to his friend and bass player of slipknot,
Dude was a beast
It gives me hope for the future that someone so young has both the EQ and emotional literacy to understand and really feel the stories and emotions behind all of the that you listen to. You are one of the people who helps restore a little of my faith in humanity and its future.
brother playing guitar and singing at the same time is all about the passion you have for the music you write. I've studied music, music theory and at the end of the day its putting the passion in it the song that makes it good.
The Man. The Neck. The Legend.
You are clearly a very intelligent young man. Keep going brother! 💪🏼
RIP Paul and Joey. 🪬
Yea bro, Corey Taylor is sic man. He is also writes his own books, his lyrics, he is a phenomenal artist. Great review!
This song gives me goosebumps every time, one of my all time favourites ❤
Glad you liked it.
listen to this song at a red light late at night with no one around you is such a surreal feeling
snuff is a song that means a lot to me.
He is Corey Taylor. Probably the greatest artist of my generation. Man is a GOD amongst mortals
If I remember right, he performed this version right after he lost one of his drummers, Joey. It's heartbreaking.
I find it incredible you've never heard of Corey Taylor. He's the lead singer in Slipknot.
Corey Taylor is one of the best musicians of all time!!!
This song always threatens my tear ducts, and I can’t help but belt the lines along with him.
Also, when he steps back from the mic, he’s holding back tears
Lol I teared up when this came out. I went through ah crappy relationship and this song saved me. God bless. Great review.
Corey Taylor is one awesome musician.
I love you're reaction and breaking down you're thought's to this great song!you express ya self very polite and dig really into it!corey is pulling on our heartstrings!love it🥰
"He's not yelling" ♡
this performence was after his good friend and bandmate in Slipknot died too...extra powerful
Love Slipknot, I would say more about him, but everyone's all ready told who he is. That's for reacting to this ❤. Much love to you and your family 💕Brandi Modrak 💕❤
This song is regarded as a tribute to Paul Grey, an important member of slipknot, who didn't always see eye to eye with Corey, either way, his death hit slipknot hard, so this is Corey trying to get closure and let Paul live on
Cory Taylor musical genius
He is the lead singer of slipknot baby
We all know and love him Cory Taylor the vocalist of slipknot and sour
Everyone thinks metal and hard rock are dark and violent, but Corey puts true emotion into his songs
He is also the singer of the SpongeBob song!!!!
Could you react to more rage, like Guerilla radio? Or maybe a band like The clash or Bad religion? Been really loving your videos recently!
Alright I have to comment before watching this THANK U
Usually I will dont research a song just let the lyrics reach you. But the story behind this song is so sad. It really. Makes you appreciate the song more when you know the history of this song.
The original version of this is by Slipknot. Corey is their lead singer and also sings for Stone Sour.
Yessss!♥️🔥 i live this live version♥️ you are on fire the last weeks♥️
Corey is an amazing singer, I know this was sooo hard to him to perform RIP Paul this songs about but also Joey one of the best drummers in the world I'm so happy I got to see him perform when I was younger.
I got to see him live with Slipknot at the end of May and it was so awesome. He had a sore throat that night but he still killed the performance. You couldn’t tell he was hurting at all
should check out the video for this song, it is so heartbreaking
Every time I hear this song it brings me to tears. Still a favourite though. ❤️😭
This guy is the lead singer for Slipknot ( and stone sour), remember the time you watched that live video of slipknot “spit it out” and you jumped up on the bridge part, well the guy singing that song is this guy
If you ever get to experience Corey Taylor live,do it, amazing
I will never hear Corey sing this song and not cry my eyes out, even silently. You are right about the pain behind it. It comes through no matter the medium.
I think, This song was one of his bestfriends and bandmate that passed aways favourite song that they wrote together, i think thats why he finds it difficult to get through now.
This man is a legend.
He wrote this song with one of his best friends and band mates that passed away about a month before he passed.
I love your reaction to this song. He has a powerful voice. It took me years to stop crying when I hear this song. You should look up From can to can't. Corey does the vocals on that song as well.
You make really intelligent observations dude
As soon as I saw what song it was... after watching a few of your videos I know this would be heavy
when he did this show and sang that song, he breaks down at the end cause it reminds him of his best friend and bandmate of Slipknot who past away
YASSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
SLIPKNOT!!
STONE SOUR!!!!!
COREY TAYLOR SOLO!!!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes. He CAN sing! He's an ultimate entertainer! You HAVE heard him sing before, he's the singer from Slipknot!!!!!
Check him in Stone Sour next?? Try
"Through Glass"
"Bother"
You got that right about whatever happened to him.
Slipknot is Awesome... And Corey Taylor is a Rock Legend...
Dude askin' hwo he is when he is littely watchin' his RUclips channel 😂
He is corey taylor, lead singer of slipknot and stone sour. This is a slipknot song
My eyes have only welled up to three songs, this version of this song. Wrong Side of Heaven (Music video- am retired military) Bloodsport (From the Room Below) by Sleep Token.
He is the best Front Man ever!
Love is a fanciful thing. The best and the worst, the highest and the lowest, the funnest and the scariest.
A funny thing, love.
Great reaction. You should check Corey out singing Purple Rain after Prince died
I like videos like this; of first time hearing other music than normal. I’ll subscribe for more. 👍👍👍👍
Just my opinion but I think it would be cool if you reacted to metal more to branch it out, there are hundreds of metal bands that make absolutely incredible music and meaningful songs.
Hey, could you recommend me some. Im just interested in what some of your favourite songs might be.
@@bbschroeder7125 hey thanks man, I know Bring me the horizon and Spiritbox I’ll check out the others too, appreciate the comment 🖤
Unfortunately fans from different genres are quick to judge metal as noise or satanic because they don't go check it out properly. Metal will never die
Corey Taylor is also in stone sour. Brother and song #3!
Greatest song ever lyrics so deep
He is the lead singer of slipknot and stone sour. 😅😅 the man behind the mask
Good stuff ! A favorite
