You describe tics very well, for me I carry earphones and post it notes. My friend taught me how to make paper cranes so I try to take my mind of it by doing that to not focus on the tics.

A teacher triggered a tic attack for my friend in the middle of class. She has a dr note and has informed her teachers about her tourettes but this dude just couldn't understand 🤦 she gets tics when she is nervous and getting infront of the class or being called on is a trigger she had to explain 5 times before he finally stopped giving her bad grades for "low participation" (she does all her work) the one day he had her get up in front of the class and she started ticing so I went up instead and she had to go to the nurse and was in there non stop ticing for like 45min

For everyone asking, she can do art while ticking because you can pretty much tell when a tic is coming on, so you don’t have to mess up the art, and also when you’re focused, your tics can disappear (why art is such a good activity to do while having a tic attack!). The amount of people who have self-diagnosed themselves with tourettes in these comments is horrible. I copy behaviours quickly, so I have to watch when watching too much content where the creator tics often or I will copy them and start ticking which can last for days. Doesn't mean I have tourettes lol, just don't go self-diagnosing. If you think you have something, go to a professional and get an actual diagnosis. Until you've done that, don't claim things that may not be true.

    • @butasimpleidiotwizard
      @butasimpleidiotwizard 4 года назад +104

Also there are other disorders that can cause tics, I tic but it's because of my autism, which I found out by checking with my psychiatrist instead of just saying I have tourettes. You could have tourettes but a self diagnosis should be temporary (as in you should be seeking a professional one) and it should be well thought out over several months and you should consider how you were in the past also, if you've only just started having tics try to control them as best you can and keep track of when you can't, and see how long they last. If tics only appear when you're thinking about them it's not likely that they're real.

My mum just told me to stay in my room and we put a cover over my vanity. I hurt my arm during a tick and I bit my lip very hard. I kept clapping as well. Very funny, although some parts were scary

I have had tics since I was a child and it had always been very very low-key, it was just my muscles getting tense and my eyes blinking, it got better for a few years, then it got bad again about 6 months ago. I was never diagnosed with anything, I don't think it's that much of a big deal usually but right now I am having a tic attack, my head won't stop jerking, it's been about an hour. I have never had very noticeable tics before and my family and I are wondering what's going on. I'm glad I stumbled on this video, it made me feel less alone

Some coping tips I use. I listen to music when they start to get bad. I also do something I enjoy, like reading or drawing etc. another tip I have is try your best not to focus on it. I know it can be difficult sometimes but it can help with calming down. Also I know that recently has probably been hard because it’s still all new to you so you may feel self conscious about it. But don’t be afraid of others. Know that there are other people who go through similar situations and you aren’t alone. I know you’ve got this!!

One of my tics was that I would randomly fling an arm out in any such direction, and I hit a few people on accident with that one. I would also bang on tables and walls, etc. My Tourette’s got to the point where it was dangerous to be around me.

If you're concentrated on something, tics almost go completely away. So still a few tics sometimes but mostly none

Evee Your art is so pretty. ❤️ I literally adore your videos on every platform you cover. And you really help me with coming to terms with my tics. About 8 weeks ago what was a tiny tic turned into something crazy and I have tic attacks too. Thank you so much for subconsciously supporting me through one of the most difficult times of my life ❤️

My tics and cataplexy get more pronounced the more energetic or emotional I am as well. If I laugh I have to be careful to make sure myself and people around me won't get hurt when I pass out. If I know no one but maybe me will get hurt I still let go though. I don't wanna make a life where I can't laugh at myself or whatever. Not worth it. My tics are rarely violent, aside from the odd slap on my face. Some make me laugh quite a bit and that can make my body turn to jello and lights out. I'm just trying to say I get it 100%. My neurologist and his colleagues want to write a paper on me because of my weird mix and amount of neurological issues. Luckily nothing affected my intelligence, I was lucky, but just about every thing else has its issues. My neurologist said it's "like someone wired a supercomputer with no idea what they were doing but got a few things in the right place because that's the only place they fit" speaking about my brain

@Ella Benson bro wtf you can’t watch some videos and assume that because on some days tics can be worse and sometimes they can go away for a bit

Mhm my cousin just got the diagnose that she has tics. It's really not easy for her, she's 19 right now and she never had this before. One of her main tics is to stretch her arms in front of her body and get her head down. Like she wants to say "please". Most of the time it's funny, but sometimes she calls me and tell me that it's really annoying and that she hates it when people don't see the problem behind this. She can't stop doing it and even when she sleeps her arms move sometimes. We're all really grateful that she has (to this point) no tics which hurt her.
Because of you and your community I can understand her a little bit. Thank you so much

This is very painful to watch. I'm on the verge of tears. She's so sweet. Constant uncontrolled twitching must be exhausting and she still smiles.

I have anxiety induced tics (not tourettes) and they usually happen randomly and they're very mild (twitching, arm swinging, my neck bending sharply to my shoulder, body shaking horrendously). I usually don't make any sounds but sometimes I just start crying because a lot of mine end up hurting me or I make tongue clicking noises or "WOOO" or I just shout random Japanese words 😂. My panic attacks usually induce hurtful tic attacks. One happened when I got into an argument with someone and I had to drag myself to my bed because I started hurting myself a lot. It lasted about 30 minutes. I ended up having my arms behind my pillows as my body just continuously spazzed and my arms kept trying to fly out. Again, my tics usually happen randomly and I can go a while without tics. However, when they do start up, I can have them multiple times a day. Sometimes music or my ADHD can also cause my tics to act up. A couple months after the time my tics first started becoming prominent, my seizures started up again so I'm trying to be careful. Especially since I have heart problems and my heart racing too much from exercise can also cause my legs to spaz out. So from what I've seen about my own health, my anxiety, ADHD, and Heart Murmur cause my tics to act up and then my tics caused my seizures to act up again. (Before my tics became prominent, I hadn't had a seizure in 4 years) Wow, I'm sorry this is such a mess and I thank you all for reading this

ok, I don't know if I have tics or whatever but in class, I tend to yell out and kinda hit the desk at the same time it's kinda embarrassing and my friends are like "Woah what happened?" and I always say "oh I just got cold."

I have the same tic you do, the one where your mom said to control your breathing. Idk how to describe it, closing off your throat and inhaling I guess? But it was my first and longest running one! Really interesting to hear what it actually sounds like because hearing myself do it, it sounds totally different. So I decided to record the tic and it sounds the same! Crazy lol

I figured you out on tik tok, and I started watching a lot of your videos and I'm like wow. I wonder how it feels to have tics and how stressful it could be at times. I watched a few of your videos and I'm like wow this girl is a trooper I could never. You're so strong and you send out a lot of good vibes. I just started getting into your videos and tik toks and I'm already a huge fan. You're also really funny haha!! Wish you the best of luck!
