Her humility shows through in her acknowledging that this ghazal (or it it a nazam?) can not be composed in any other tune other than the original composed by Jaidev saheb. Credit to her for also acknowledging Chhaya Ji as the original singer and Faiz Saheb as the lyricist. Poignant words, music to match and such a soothing voice. Mashallah.

I am glad I read your posts. I was a little taken aback, watching your video, to hear that Faiz had written these lines while I knew that Makhdoom Mohiuddin did that. Now I understand and thanks for that additional knowledge...I had no clue that Faiz used to know Makhdoom. Shafiq Raqib Saheb you’re wrong. Makhdoom wrote the original ghazal that goes: Aap ki yaad aati rahi raat Bhar Chashm e nam muskurati rahi raat bhar Faiz wrote this version of Makhdoom’s ghazal on his death grieving for his close friend.
You are right; the original nazm was by Makhdoum sahib. This version was composed by Faiz sahib in Moscow on hearing that his friend Makhdoum hd passed away. They are both excellent versions and equally well sung by Dr. Chopra and Chhaya Ganguly.
