@@reginaldscot165 About 3 years ago the Portuguese President was on the beach and saved 2 women who were in distress at sea. Many asked where his Bisyguards were. Nowhere, he doesn't need them. 2 weeks ago, Swiss Federal Councilor (Bundesrat) Alain Berset danced at the Streetparade with 920,000 visitors. Just google it.
Just had this video highlighted to me. I remember doing a race from Kuala Belait to the National Stadium in BSB (125km) in 1993 as a celebration for his majesty's 47th birthday. I came second in the race and won the KOM challenge on my Merlin Titanium bike! 🙂 Still have the bike. Love the country!
He is the best. The one or two palaces or two of the building in the royal grounds. It was built by a Filipino construction firm in the 70's. ( i forgot what year. 😅)
I did on a previous occasion when he came to look at my business display at a different event. (Not quite in that way but I did tell him about our bikes.) 😁
@@reginaldscot165 British royal family wouldn’t do anything like this. They’d say cycling’s for peasants and they didn’t even bother attending the women’s football World Cup final.
I wouldn't make comments about the Brunei Royal Family, not out of respect for them or citizens but out of respect for you 😊 that said no one should be beyond criticism.
Thank you, yes it’s mostly for me because my family are Bruneian and I don’t want anyone to be offended by comments on my video. I’m happy for people to express their opinion, just asking kindly that they are not rude. Alternatively there are plenty of videos on RUclips about that subject they can vent on. 😁
@@reginaldscot165 exactly! I did see a lot of potential trade for you though, hope you had plenty of business cards to hand out. Especially to his security detail. I was kind of hoping for you to make a breakaway and sprint past him, am sure it would have ended well 😅
Sultan shmultan. He's a man. No better no worse than the rest of us. This idea of exalting a person for no reason other than his birth is ridiculous. True for Brunei. True for England. True universally.
The title perhaps. But did you consider that he might be loved because he’s a good leader of his country and that he takes good care of his people? In fact I’d go as far as to say that I’d be willing to bet he’s a better leader than anyone that runs your country. Or mine for that matter! 😁
@@reginaldscot165 I am asked for the grace of the Sultan. Give me your crumbs, I am devoted to you under Sharia law. I will never criticize you, Your Majesty. Loyal to you to the point of stupidity. If he seems so gracious to you, why doesn't he share his wealth and power with all citizens?
This is equally interesting and also quite revolting. I refuse to call another human being "your majesty". But anywho thanks for sharing this experience with us peasants... 🙄
Enforce whatever rule you like when in Brunei. The free world, however, could not care less about such ridiculous fragility that WORDS from a STRANGER are enough to offend and impact your stability. Weak.
What does respectful mean? He is a man who has been charged with crimes in the United States. Unfortunately, due to his immunity, he cannot be taken to court. He introduced Sharia law, and he lives frivolously himself. The stately income is mostly used for him, his family and the preservation of his power. We don't live in Brunei and just because we might hurt someone's feelings shouldn't we criticize it?
I was just asking nicely to consider other people’s feelings that I happen to live with. But I’m 100% in favour of your right to express your freedom of speech. 🙂
I know nothing about the Sultan but I thought it was amazing that he moved freely amongst the people.
Yes unlike our western leaders who would be torn to bits by the people if they did the same. 🤭

It’s AMAZING how close you can get to the Sultan! Very cool. btw, the horns at start sounded like disc brake squeal!🤣
Horn sounds in the UK would be because Kevin is 1 minute late getting his fried chicken from KFC.

Wonderful story and wonderful bike!
Brunei is an awesome country people are usually mistaken
Brunei is awesome 👏🏻
The Sultan is obviously held in high regard Reginald so can we assume you were riding your grovel bike😊
Ha ha I like it! 😂👍🏻
How did they manage to keep cars off the. road?
Interesting video Reginald.
As always will be looking forward to your next video.
All the best!
On Sunday the roads in the capital are actually closed by the police for cyclists and running. From 6am till 10am
@@reginaldscot165 that is actually impressive! Could imagine how the daily mail would froth if that happened here.

Name dropping, oh dear
True that.

I’m sure it was, most workers here are from Philippines, India and Indonesia. 🙂

Every cyclist is great. Maybe dedicated bike lanes can be built?
Maybe, but I think there are better solutions. 🙂
I read the intro, but he's not MY Sultan😂
Technically he’s not mine either. But I’m happy to adopt him as my own. 😂
Not many spectators. I assume it was early in the morning
Not many people in Brunei. 😁
Oohh., Get you. Great video as always
Thank you kindly. 🙏🏻❤️
You can't ride near him, but when he's off the bike you can stand next to him and shake hands? Makes no sense.
I was thinking the same thing, but I think they are protecting him from some of the less skilled riders who might fall into him and cause an accident.
Pretty cool.
👍🏻🙂
A great coup, not many ppl can boast this..
